Sidekicks? Anyone try them out?

Well the new comp is up and running, and I'm thinking of playing a bit more CU.

Was looking at the store today and saw that you can purchase sidekicks and henchemen, which is a fun idea. Anyone done so? Are they entertaining? Do they have any story at all? Or just a cool combat pet idea.

Based on other areas of Champions Online I'm guessing they are just cool combat pets with a bare minimum of story. However, you have a great idea hidden in your post. How awesome would it be if each Sidekick came with their own background and an optional story arc? Even if it was like 3-4 missions with a unique boss in one of the existing factions I'd be looking at picking the side kicks up.

Someone had suggested to me the option of allowing the player to design their DNPC's and their Secret IDs.
