Are characters created in V2 backward compatible with V1.47?

If a character is created / modified in V2 will I be able to send it to someone who is not on the beta test? Also, will I be able to open it up in V1.XX when the test is over?

Mostly, but there will be some issues.

In particular, Enhanced Senses, Reputation (the Perk), Sense Affecting Powers, and Sense Modifiers will not restore properly under 1.47. They won't throw any errors, but they won't restore properly as some of the new constructs used in them do not exist in v1.

So, they will have to be deleted and restored when loaded in V1.xx?

The basic constructs will be restored when loading a v2 character into v1, but the options and adders will not be, so you will need to go in and edit those abilities to make sure that they are properly defined under v1.

Funny you should mention this. I am using v2 and sent a character to a person who isn't and he had problems. I don't think he was even able to open it. I will ask him and find out.

He shouldn't have any problems opening it....one of the advantages to using an XML format: new/unknown tags and attributes are just ignored by the app.

Some of the abilities won't be correct, but he shouldn't have any problems.

He will likely get an error message/warning during the opening of the character since he doesn't have the template that is specified in the save file (new templates under v2....much more powerful)....but the warning will just say that "Standard Super" is being used instead, which should be fine. If you used Heroic rules, he can just apply one of the heroic templates......
