I've just played through most of Vibora Bay for the first time and I wondered if Scarlet Valerian is a real champions character or something created just for CO?

I can't find any information on her anywhere using Google, so I assumed she was only created for the game. If I recall correctly, there is a one sentence mention of her in the new Champions Universe book.

If she is a Champions character, what book features her write-up and information? The Vibora Bay supplement? She isn't mentioned in any of the summaries I've seen.

Valerian Scarlet is written up in Vibora Bay, 115--19. She's rather confusingly alphabetised as "Valerian Scarlet" under "V" in the index, which might be the source of the problem. A very tough character at 654 points, including a magic pool with 80 active points vice the more normal 60.

....And a COM of 24, too!

Excellent! A perfect excuse to pick that book up, despite not liking Vibora Bay or Black Mask in general.

There's plenty more in Vibora Bay than the Black Mask and the city setting itself. I'm partial to Amphibian, for his hopeless(?) romance with Stingray, Dr. Ka (background, not power set), the Skunk Ape, and the tragic "Alligator Al."

I'm just curious...do you not like the MMO Vibora Bay and Black Mask, or the PNP version or both?

The MMO Black Mask is a cypher, just a mission granter, so it is impossible to like or dislike her (her costume is absurd though). The MMO Vibora Bay is fairly fun, much better than Monster Island, which it follows. I haven't tried Therakiel's Temple, though, and the crisis is a bit long for my taste.

The PnP Black Mask is not my favorite. I do not like her back story at all and like her character even less. I feel the same way about Vibora Bay, which is a bit too "voodoo" for my taste.
