I have a character question that im not sure which forum to post in but i thought this would be the better place. I am running a fantasy hero game where i introduced a gilf ( half giant half elf) anyway to be short and to give you some initial background, one of the players was gone from play the last time we played but everyone that played had a great time with this character. The player that was out we'll call "j" would have probably killed the gilf ( which everyone initially wanted to do ) one of the abilities his pc has is any open wound someone has his pc she can draw it all out ( to keep this character alive longer and to give "j" a better feel for the gilf) i wanted to change the blood that the gilf would have from blood to another substance ( not make him an atomoton being that this is fantasy not sci fi) his blood has changed over time (working with this mysterious ore for years has changed his blood into a fluidic substance) so the question is how would i write this ability up ? that the blood the gilf has is this ore not blood ?

I didn't really understand.

the gilf has the power to draw blood from wounds?

another character has the power to draw blood from wounds?

the gilf's blood is not blood just because that is the way gilf's are?

the gilf's blood is not blood because of this power?

Long and short of it is that as long as he bleeds, it counts pointwise as just blood. You can declare it is not blood, and give penalties to other people's first aid rolls but he is protected from powers that affect blood.

if you want no limitations with it, just the advantage of being immune to powers that affect blood, I would buy it as a lifesupport immunity. Go with poison or disease, and determine price based on commonness of powers that target blood.

J's character she is the one that can draw blood from any open wound the Gilf is the one that wants the protection from that. ( i like the character of the Gilf theres alot to him and being that the player whose playing him is a newbie to any type of role playing game and is having a great time is a good thing) its just the way that he was roled up that j is having a hard time with (of course i told him to stick with the game for awhile see how things go, so next sun we ll see how things go )

The EXACT definition of the "blood drawing" power might actually be the key to your problem.

Surely this power will have some limit (or at least a mechanism) that you can use as a "defense" against it.

How is the Blood Draw bought? Every attack has a defense, so the simplest answer would be to determine what that defense is, and to make sure that the gilf has it.

You are the GM. You can also just rule that the power doesn't work on this particular race/character. Of course, the best thing to do is give J's character story reason not to harm the "gilf," or think of some other plot twist (e.g. A Blood Mage shows up and links the PC's lives together: in order to stay alive, J's character must protect the gilf).
