I'm thinking of getting the hero designer software, but have a couple of questions.
How big is the download? I have dialup, so will I be able to resume if I get disconnected?
Its supposed to run on anything that has java... could I use it on my pocket pc?
Would it be possible to get an older version that runs on dos? And would this be able to do 5th edition?
Thanks

I'll see if I can answer your questions one at a time.
1) about 35 megs.
2) no really sure, not likely, You best bet is ordering the CD.
3) Not really, I doubt your POCKET PC has the RAM to run it nor the required Java 1.4 required. The latter is why there is not MAC installer yet.
4) There is no older version of this software. This is a version 1. The online updates bring it up to 1.20
5) This only does 5th Edition.
I think you are confusing HD with MetaCreator and/or Creation Workshop based on some of your questions.

Just as a side note, I do think HD is worth the money.

HD was worth every penny spent, as a GM I've cut my player-book time and GM book-time in half. It allows me to see where all my numbers are going and DAN-THE-MAN is constantly updating the progam to perfection. Good buy, go for it!!!

Might want to wait until v2.0 comes out. BTW, when might that be?

The impression I got from Dan once, is that he will not be working on till later in the year. So you got at least 6+ months to wait.

Correct. I plan to start working on v2 (meaning no new enhancements for v1) around June of this year. With luck, I'll have v2 ready to roll sometime in December.

Does this mean we're talking a new product with a new purchase for version 1 users?

No...as always, we're planning on an upgrade for existing users (for a fee) and a full-version for new users (for a larger fee). The prices have yet to be determined....and probably won't be until shortly before its release.
