View Full Version : Velocity damage inquiry

I ran into this the other night and had a hard time working it out. A character that can move a high velocity but has low defenses wants to do a move-through on an object that only he can reach in time. He picks up another willing character (a brick) and runs to the target, throwing the brick into the target (still presumably moving at this great velocity) and letting him do the move-through.

Does this work? Assuming the brick hits, does he get his Str based damage as well as the velocity damage, or perhaps the throwing characters Str? If he does knockback to the target, does he then take half damage? And if it does work, would it work with a park bench instead of the brick? What if they had tried a move-by the same way?

Whether it’s allowed to work is up to you as the GM — if you’re not comfortable with it, don’t allow it. Assuming you choose to allow it, in the interest of game balance and other factors I’d suggest that (a) the STR damage the “missile” character can apply would be limited to his own or the “carrier’s” STR, whichever is less, and (b) that the “missile” takes full/half damage per the normal rules.

In re: the park bench question, the main rulebook has rules for using weapons/objects to do Move Throughs/Bys; check 'em out and post a follow-up if you have any further questions.
