Philippine Convention: New Worlds

This is a link to the next convention I'll be demoing HERO. It will be the first Science Fiction / Fantasy convention in the Philippines. Haven't decided which setting to do yet that'll showcase HERO best. I may take on the Buffy crew, since we don't have the 'official' system for it. Or perhaps the X-philes one.

Any links that have conversions already? Even for the rest (LOTR, Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter)?

The convention went well! We all got in touch with our "inner geeks", and the AEGIS booth was sandwiched between the X-philes booth and the Philippine Tolkien Society booth.

We did some demos, but no HERO demos, alas. The Buffy / Angels fans that wanted to play were busy manning (and womanning) the booth. I've got a scheduled game for them sometime later this month. :D

There WERE a lot of queries when several 'older' gamers saw the HERO 5th edition book though.

Here's how the exchanges went:

"Is this HERO system based on CHAMPIONS?"
"Actually, it's the same system... but it's now in it's 5th edition."
"You mean it reached that fifth edition?"
"...what edition did you have?"
"The first edition."

"HERO System? Isn't this the game that was ranked the best RPG system?"
"Yes. And it is."

Fellow gamers in AEGIS, who marvel and roll their eyes at the 'complexity' of the system, and the thickness of the rules were shocked as well.

"Why is the thickest and most complex RPG the one that generates the most interest?"
"Cause it's that good." :D
