I've read through the M&M vs. Hero boards and haven't found anything near the answers I would like about M&M... so here it goes, hopefully with the intent on a Mechanic discussion of M&M...

I'm going to be joining a M&M game run by a GM who has done Supers for over 15ish years. He has worked with Hero, Fuzion, and many others.... He has decided the he really likes M&M.... So that is what the new version of the supers game will be in....

I have concerns! The main one centers on the "4th SavingThrow" that M&M has....

My understanding is this... There are no HP in this D20 game. After a successful attack, the attacked and hit character get to make a "saving throw" to determine the effect of the attack... A great roll, its shrugged.... a ok roll, he's hurt.... a bad roll, he's out of combat.....

I have to many "quick thought" conflicts with the idea to list here.... Has anyone actually played the game? How does this mechanic actually play out? Does it work? Is it crap?

Now I dont want a D20 bash, a M&M bash, a Hero bash, etc.

Just straigh thoughts with good backing up...

From everything I've heard, M&M is well done in general. That mechanic is cited as one that works well and is quick and easy in practice.

I don't have any actual experience with the game, though.

Another, haven't played it, but . . .

It looks like it will work out nicely to simulate comic book action without being too labor intensive on the tracking of a stun number. It looks like what a lot of supers players seem to be looking for these days. I a month or so, my group will be trying this out.

I am also curious about the new Marvel diceless game. Inquest is supposed to come out next week with a basic version of the game included.

I'm still enamored with Hero, but there are times when I want something a bit fuzzier and faster, like the original Marvel game.

I have played in one M&M session and found that the damage system works well in play. It is one of the few aspects of M&M that I prefer to Champions

I like M&Ms, especially the peanut kind.

Ooops, I think you're talking about something else.

What are the HERO stats for M&Ms? How do you simulate the "melt in your mouth, not in your hands" power?

I think saliva is a Transformation attack (substance into body fuel), and as such breaks down the food. The "melting" is actually the Transformation.

It should be noted that the Transformation starts to revert in about 24 hours. It is at this point that the body quickly expels the substance, as it realizes that waiting for a full reversion could be damaging to itself.

If the substance being Transformed was originally in a liquid state, the reversion only takes about 2 hours, and only 1 hour if the original liquid substance was beer. :)

Don't forgot Brundlefly's saliva. Now that was definitely some sort of killing attack.
