Ok here's today's bit.

I hate names.

But I'm starting to get into my story. No straight A-Z plot yet. My heroes and villains have stories. Now I have to work on giving them names.

One of my hangups with writing "original" material vs fiction within someone else's setting is that making a burly tank of a warrior in WoW is common place, but making a burly tank of a warrior in my own world seems like I couldn't come up with something "new." Well, I'm still only 3 pages in. I have characters but my overall plot is kind of weak.

I think I'll write little bits for each of the major characters I have in my head and then try to weave them together.

but Names are killing me. I'm wary of using my usual "throw letters together" method, but I've still done so at least once.

One of my heroes is a Water Elementalist. He comes from the Dragon Clans and is an arrogant, cranky academician ...

I don't think of myself as an author or a writer. I've done stories about original characters in other people's sandboxes. Notably World of Warcraft's Azeroth. I like the people and places to play with.

But tonight, I started a novel set in my on again off again World of Edean campaign setting.

but I'm running into problems. I haven't named anything. Villages, Kingdoms, etc. I don't even like my race names particularly. This is why ...
