Nest of Thorns

Been a busy couple of months. I got a contract job a couple of weeks after the GTMO thing fell thru and am three pay checks richer and more or less in the black again.

Good timing too; my car lease ended and I was able to convert to a purchase so now I'm renting to own my Beamer vs just renting to rent. The mileage and damage and new registration all got rolled in, they put it thru the BMW Certified Preowned process, extended the warranty, and put some new tires on it, and the monthly ...

Well...just got a call. The GTMO job is canceled. So I'm jobless again. At least it happened now rather than after I got to the island.

Well, good news (sort of). I have a job, starting 4/20. My new employer is General Dynamics IT, and its a good compensation package with a lot of perks. One slight downside...the first thing Im assigned to is a contract in GTMO, Cuba; 1 year unaccompanied. I'm making arrangements to depart apace, and trying to decide which HERO System books I should take with me for the duration. One thing is for sure, we live in interesting times.

I still havent found a job and prospects are slim at this point. Target companies in my space are laying off or holding out, not hiring.

I have enough cash flow to survive for a few more months on the cheap, but no surplus for unexpected expenses or entertainment. The annual payment for killershrike.com is due in a couple of weeks, and I simply am not going to be able to cover it. Short of a cash influx, I'm going to have to park the url and let the site go down until I get fluid ...

Seeing as how I have time on my hands suddenly, I powered thru getting all the in-use sub-sites at killershrike.com switched over to the "new" menuing scheme I put in place a couple of years ago.
