Well, good news (sort of). I have a job, starting 4/20. My new employer is General Dynamics IT, and its a good compensation package with a lot of perks. One slight downside...the first thing Im assigned to is a contract in GTMO, Cuba; 1 year unaccompanied. I'm making arrangements to depart apace, and trying to decide which HERO System books I should take with me for the duration. One thing is for sure, we live in interesting times.

I'm so happy you'll be working! I'm so sorry you're going to have to be away from your son. It's such a crazy world. Reminds me of the Dustbowl.

Yeah, I'm approaching it as an adventure. I did worse stints than a year in Gitmo back when I was active duty, and I'll be in a cushy civilian contractor role vs a lowly enlisted man this time around to boot so I'm not worried about hardship. The truly hard part is not seeing my son for a year. My girlfriend isn't too thrilled about it either. But, we do what we must.

Well, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Too bad you didn't get this job a month ago, because you might have been able to meet Ms. Universe when she went down there.
