Next stop is the doctor, for an EKG and a prescription. I've reduced my daily caffeine intake to zero in preparation.
(insert joke about if you can make the appointment and take the test you don't have ADHD) ;-) Good luck. If it does turn out to be, and you can get it under control I hope that the change goes well. I'd think it could be a big mental adjustment that takes some getting used to.
Most people I've heard about with ADHD get diagnosed at a very young age. How long have you thought you had ADHD ?
Only for a week or two have I thought I had it, but I'm pretty certain I've had it from a very young age. One of the major criteria for diagnosing it (in kids and adults, apparently) is that symptoms were present from before the age of 7 years. I was never the hyper, twitchy, couldn't stay in the seat kid, but I was the daydreamy, spacey kid who couldn't concentrate on anything (hence the "with inattention" portion of the diagnosis). That, I realized goes back something like day 12 in first grade (days 1 through 10 being the "orientation and what teacher will you have" period). SS, thanks! I've got my fingers crossed. Can't really be any worse than now.
