Nest of Thorns

Been a busy couple of months. I got a contract job a couple of weeks after the GTMO thing fell thru and am three pay checks richer and more or less in the black again.

Good timing too; my car lease ended and I was able to convert to a purchase so now I'm renting to own my Beamer vs just renting to rent. The mileage and damage and new registration all got rolled in, they put it thru the BMW Certified Preowned process, extended the warranty, and put some new tires on it, and the monthly payment is a couple hundred less than when I was leasing.

Been working on the new www.killershrike.info and having a lot of fun building out the World of Generica.

I bought the Complete Conan omnibus thats out in BnN and have been reading a couple chapters a night. Re-discovering an old childhood favorite can be fun.

I got a new computer book, Effective RESTful Services w/ .NET, which seems really good but I havent been able to block out time to sit down and really give it my full attention.


And, I got hired by a company that wanted to hire me back in October right before the market went stupid. Their hiring freeze finally ended and they called me back immediately. They're hiring me on as Lead Developer, and all totalled up its about 12k / yr more than I was making at the last company and at the current company. I just got the offer letter today, and tomorrow I give notice at the contract gig.

It was a real roller coaster, and the dust hasn't completely settled, but I think I came out on top.
