On the question on comparing the forthcoming Windows 7 to Mac OS X Snow Leopard

Scot Finnie: Something like that gives you great confidence in your OS. In all regards, Windows 7 has left a favorable impression on me. If Vista had been Windows 7, who knows, I might not be typing this on a Mac right now. That’s how good Windows 7 is.

But I don’t want to leave a false impression. That horse really has left the barn. There’s no contest for me between Windows 7 and Snow Leopard. It’s Snow Leopard. But Windows 7 is the most impressive OS Microsoft has ever produced.
Scott is a switcher from Windows to Mac, in his words:
...an experienced software reviewer who switched from Windows to the Mac in 2006. The author, a long-time Windows reviewer, used Macs extensively from 1987-91 and from 1994-1996. He began his re-entry into the Mac world by buying a Mac mini in early 2005.
He is currently the Editor in Chief of Computerworld and has had more than 20 years in technology journalism.

All things considered, I think the first quote is pretty fair statement.
