Now St Louis...Then Fairbanks.

Rate this Entry
So I am here in the St Louis metro area (Ballwin...or Manchester, depending who you ask) and am feeling mucho gaming withdrawal. Sigh. Hopefully, before the Summer is over I'll be able to get back down for a "day trip" to where all my gaming stuff is stored and pack up some of it to bring back. At least then I will be able to vicariously game by reading sections of "San Angelo..." or old issues of "The Adventurers Club" etc....

Then, coming around the 6th of Sept (give or take depending on a couple of factors..) I'll be off to Fairbanks AK to start on the next step of my long road to completing my undergraduate degree in theatre. Heading back to school after a 27 year sabbatical is a bit daunting but very exciting as well. And the nice thing about being around a university is the potential (at least) of discovering a gaming group on campus. One IS listed amongst student organizations but as I discovered when looking for the UI:UC Conflict Simulations Society a few years back those affiliations can (and do) change. Of course, I'll be needing to do some significant organizing of my luggage to get at least my core gaming stuff into the footlocker I'll be taking...Sigh.

BTW, to anyone who was involved with the Team Norfolk series of sessions there in Decatur: If you have any notes/suggestions regarding my style of reffing or any game logs you'd be willing to share, please send me an email. Because IF I get the chance to run a campaign (or sessions, depending on scheduling) up in Fairbanks it will potentially be linked to the Team Norfolk world/universe and I could use the help jogging my memory. Thanks.

Yeah...And the amazing thing (to me at least) is that I received both a "cash scholarship" based on my portfolio and a waiver of the non-resident surcharge on tuition. So I am definitely thankful on a variety of levels....

It varies depending on where we are in the production cycle. For example, at one point I was working 0830hrs till 1700hrs and a half day (0830hrs till around 1200hrs) on Saturday, with Sunday off. However, starting tomorrow and then till the current show ("Big River") opens on the 28th we will be on what's called "10 of 12's" and my schedule will be MUCH more chaotic. And we will probably be working seven days. One of the drawbacks to my vocation....shrug. After that I should be back to the 0830-ish till 1700-ish and working five and a half (give or take) days a week till the show after "Big River" gets near to opening...etc...etc....

Well, we occasionally game on either Saturday or Sunday evenings. Very eclectic group, ranging in age from 25 to 36 or so, and just now getting them into HERO. Which also means I'm a bit rusty on the rules, been oiling the hinges with the Combat Handbook.

If you would at all be interested and think you'll have the time, while here in the area, PM me.
