The More things change....

I hate names.
But I'm starting to get into my story. No straight A-Z plot yet. My heroes and villains have stories. Now I have to work on giving them names.
One of my hangups with writing "original" material vs fiction within someone else's setting is that making a burly tank of a warrior in WoW is common place, but making a burly tank of a warrior in my own world seems like I couldn't come up with something "new." Despite the fact that there hasn't been much new in centuries.
Anyway Here are my heroes: (Two have been named)
The Priestess: Born of a plot by an evil and selfish man, she was to be sacrificed along with her half-sister to the Blood Moon Goddess and earn their father eternal youth and beauty. As well as a deitific "in your face" to the Goddess of the Silver Moon.
Things didn't work out for him as she was rescued by an aunt she didn't know before the time of the sacrifice was nigh. Now raised by said aunt and dedicated to the Silver Moon herself, she seeks her father's death. And then perhaps her own.
The Warrior is the son of a famous general and a bard with the voice of an angel. His mother (the general) though terrible in battle and inspiring as a leader was not as skilled a politician and found she was over matched by political rivals and "retired" with her husband, a giant-born war chanter. Their son was born in a rather idyllic way, and learned much from his parents before they were taken away from him by his mother's political rivals
Taken as payment by the assassin who killed his parents, the warrior was brought up as a gladiator. He escaped to freedom and made his living as a wandering minstrel or caravan guard depending on how desperate he was for cash.
By contrast,The Wizard: With a draconic bloodline and the scion of a smaller northern kingdom's royal mages, Caulder Arlyn is intellectually vain and completely uninterested in being compared to his parents. He gladly works for the Academy Arcane's library and would never dream of trying to better his parents' achievements as an adventurer. They are always trying to get him to see the world.
Caulder loathes the nobles of his kingdom, despite the presence of a strong King, the elite of the nobility weild an exceptional amount of power in the the economic health of the kingdom. Growing up among them but never being accepted by them makes him rather bitter. He adores the King's eldest daughter Naima and is constantly aggravate by their younger daughter...
The Paladin: Thyra "Tillie" Sharmane, the younger princess is a crusader. A devotee to the God of Communities, Princess Tillie is beloved by her people and reviled by the nobility. She's excitable, blunt, friendly, and has no taste for or talent for high society.
She eventually is sent on a quest to learn more about the world around her and further her kingdom's reputation and fame as an adventurer - read: Get her out of here. And her entorage includes a very displeased Caulder Arlyn.
Arratus Otien is the Priestess's father. The Noble of a wealthy city in the Southern Alliance, he secretly (poor secret truth be told) is the leader of a cult dedicated to the Blood Moon Goddess (one of the few deities so vile that they can't actually put forth a positive image; open worship is therefore rare). His plan for sacrificing his daughters for immortality slipped through his grasp (cause he was a coward, truth be told) he's turned to other machinations to ensure his power and livelihood.
He wants to sacrifice his daughters still but mostly out of spike.
The Rival-Sister: The Half-Sister of the Priestess, she's taken up worship of the Blood Moon Goddess herself, and is rather unhinged. She was raised as a spoiled brat and until the Heroine had been freed she was the wicked step-sister in a Cinderella style relationship. Which is the better position to have. But in freeing the Priestess, the aunt made the Rival-Sister aware of her fate.
She loves/hates her father, and seeks to replace him. And destroy her sister to prove she's better, winning Daddy's love in the process.
The Cat: A guardian/companion to the Priestess, this silvery white leopard is intelligent and communicates telepathically with her charge. She is very sarcastic and mothering.
The Other General: The political rival to the Warrior's mother. He fears the Warrior has escaped and will come after him. He is a better politician than general and his kingdom has come under hard times with him leading their armies. They are on the receiving end of a few bad treaties.
The Assassin: Wants to get his slave back. May end up working for Arratus.
