A 238 pound fat man to be specific. 57 pounds down since GenCon last year.

GenCon has become a way of marking time's passage for me these days. Right after last year's convention, my wife and I moved from our old apartment into this townhouse. I started some projects. I buckled down and started this fat loss program.

It has been a pretty good year.

I haven't reached my lifting goals. A back injury and a recent biceps tear have interfered with my training, and I'm not sure I'll be able to rehab and make up for the lost training time by October (a self imposed deadline). On the other hand, I've become confident that I'll make my original 230 pounds or under goal by the second week of October, even as I've been forced to accept that I'll have to keep working on becoming leaner for some time after that.

So, overall, a good year.

No advice or tips this blog entry. I've learned some very interesting things about continuing to train despite injuries this year, and I've re-learned all sorts of things I'd forgotten or ignored about nutrition. Recently I've picked up some tricks related to cooking that I'm getting some good use out of. If I ever do write the Fat Uncle's Diet Book, the Fat Uncle's Recipes will be in there.

Figured out how to make healthful high-protein, high-fiber brownies this week. They even taste mostly like brownies, which is a bonus.
