This week's award goes to Chris, for: "In my experience, Neanderthals *always* attack aliens." This replaces the previous title-holder, from Jason: "I made my INT roll, and I've decided to do it anyway." dw

Having a cape is a cool style, but it also offers a vulnerability to getting it grabbed. How might that work in combat? Perhaps long hair might also offer some kind of vulnerability like this?

So, a few years ago, we got together and worked on a project that eventually became Champions Begins. This has been a very successful and well-regarded product for Hero, and as it is free, its helping a lot of people learn how to play the game. I am particularly proud how everyone came together with suggestions, tips, ideas, editing, art, etc. Well I want to do that again, but this time we're taking it a step up. The next project will be Baby's First Campaign for Champions, a premade adventure story starting with the group gathering and ending with a big fight to stop the main bad guy. In between will be several chained adventures and several drop-in ones,…

Been trying to mull this over for awhile and figure out. The tendrils/grab is the easy part. The being nested is what's getting to me... paralysis?

The Gods Celestial are briefly mentioned in Galactic Champions (hey, they have the same initials!) as mysterious entities who are powerful beyond measure and hold the status of gods worshipped by the gods themselves. I find the concept of such entities very intriguing and, to make it even more tantalizing, we get all of two paragraphs vaguely describing them on page 122 of GC. Presumably, the idea behind this ambiguity was to give players the explicit freedom to shape the Gods Celestial as they see fit to suit their own campaigns. It's one of those "something that's there if you want to use it" pieces of lore that also adds a layer of mystery to the cosmology of the CU. …

Hey all. JUST bought the game and I'm going to use it for my Marvel and DC solo skirmish gaming as I think the combat (from my research) is perfect for what I'm looking for. I've found a TON of player made stats for Marvel & DC characters but there are quite a few missing. Now, not knowing much about the game let alone character creation I figure I should read the rules and play some games before I even attempt to do some write ups. But, I'm here asking for any tips and tricks when I do start my write ups. I was thinking of doing comparisons for stats and powers, but I'd appreciate any advice you could provide as how I s…

All I have so far is it started out as a college town on the Northern Neck, on Chesapeake Bay slightly north of the Rappahaneck River and grew from there.

Who is he? A Scandinavian man who wants to rule the world and mutated himself with what be thought was mammoth DNA, but instead elephant DNA. He is a mad scientist type and quite intelagent, but also overcofiant and possesses bad luck. Stats: A brick with a small stretching (only with extra limb) and extra limb (trunk). Also a small VVP gadget pool. Also an exotic memory (an elephant never forgets after all). Use: He believes he is more of a great villain than he actually am. He is cometic, but he takes himself seriously. He doesn't see the joke he is.

Are there any Marvel and DC character write ups for Champions? I'm not seeing anything on the website, but I'm new and still poking around. Also, while I'm here, what books should I be getting for just wanting to do skirmish battles between a small group of heroes vs villains? I'm not sure what are the differences between Champions and HERO system. Thanks

A staple in most supers games (especially those with mutants) will be something that will allow another person to identify the mutant regardless of their disguise. They will always work perfectly, identify the mutant no matter what problems are presented, how many people around, disguise used, or other issues. Even more, when there are multiple mutants in the area, the detectors will be able to say the exact number and location of each. For some (eg Nightcrawler), they are obvious mutants, but most will look the same as mainstream human. How have you dealt with the issue of these detectors? What principle do they work from? How have the mutants attempted to counter them…

What is the difference between Champions and the HERO system? I'm looking at either one for a skirmish only supers game. Thanks

Several of the 4e characters I created in Creatures of the Night: Horror Enemies were revised for later editions of Champions, ultimately making it to the Champions Villains trilogy. Most of them, however, did not. Tiger has expressed interest in updating selected characters for his Forgotten Enemies series (and used Lady Twilight with my blessing), but -- since I am still here -- I might like to do this myself. I've noodled around with Creatures of the Night Resurrected for the last several months, writing up 5e/CC versions of several characters. Before I go further, though, I have some important questions: Does anybody want this? Did you ever use them, back …

Any character that does not have the proper Life Support ability to resist colds or the flu can get sick. The only instances I can remember of this happening in the comics involved Spider-Man, who seems to get sick almost every winter, especially when he was a teen. So, your character has caught a bad cold, the flu, or maybe even COVID. How does that affect their abilities? Do they hide out until they recover or keep struggling to keep the city safe despite their illness?

Hey, there. Back after a plague-induced hiatus from TTRPGs! Superhero group is going to be doing some interplanetary stuff (think X-Men and the Shiar Empire, etc.) and yours truly has been tasked with designing the vehicle for Our Heroes to travel back and forth, etc. Looking at some of the stuff in "The Ultimate Vehicle," I'm hoping some of you have house rules that you've had a chance to work out and playtest, that you'd be willing to share so that we don't have to reinvent the wheel. For example, for space travel, how do you guys handle movement? Do you use the "constant acceleration"/Cumulative Advantage option they mention on p.87, or ha…

The Mobius from the 4E book Mystic Masters is a pretty cool place. I'm thinking of updating it and turning it into something like The House of Mystery from DC Comics. Any ideas?

Greetings everyone. I wanted to announce the official start of my work on Strike Force Organizations, a sequel to 2016's Aaron Allston’s Strike Force. The book will focus on three groups, the Blood, the Circle, and METE (all previous presented in Champions Organization products for early editions of Champions. My intent is to combine the content written for the PDFs with content Aaron wrote for his proposed (but never complete) Strike Force Universe series of books. I intend to update the content to HERO 6e, update the text to correct any errors and issues, and update any references …

The purpose of this thread is to tie up links between the groups in the Create Hero and Villain Theme threads and discuss them. It will also state where names have come up in more than one post such as the Golden Guardian and Lamia. It will also contain a list of the Heroes and Villains in a quasi notepad form which will enable us to quickly reference the names and ideas on the site. (as opposed to Bolo's excellent PDFs. And provided I can keep it up to date). This post will also contain an index for the rest of the thread and mention which themes have been done or repeated. Post 2. Hero and Villain team themes and creators Post 3 Hero teams and members Post 4 Villa…

A spin-off from the Create a Villain Theme Team thread. These heroes can be potential (not-so) friendly rivals to your PCs or just flavor characters for other parts of your game world (if your heroes are in New York and they need to hit Los Angeles or France or Japan for a case). Perhaps these heroes only focus on a particular fringe element like animal rights, space travel or protecting Delaware. Maybe they're Rust Age to your PCs Four-Color or vice versa. They could be altruistic or mercenary. Team Name: Number: Theme/Motive: Remember! Once you post the last hero of a team, you then come up with the next concept! ***** Team Name: The Even-Odds…

For curiosity sake, how would other GMs deal with any type of drain that may drain Power Defense as well. One big question is that if the drain is reducing the amount of Power Defense would that mean that it would then cause even more to be drained as there is not as much Power Defense to protect against it?

Hero Games has put out alot of books with supervillains in them. You've got Enemies I, II, III, International Enemies, Villains Vandals and Vermin and so on. What's your favorite (or one of your favorite) supervillain books that they've put out and why?

Never bring a gun to a swordfight. Don't fly higher than you can fall. Terminal velocity is your friend. Growth is the amazing power to make yourself an easy target. Never call someone "dead" until you finish the autopsy. Being dead doesn't necessarily stop people from making trouble There is no idea so stupid that it can't be used to hurt people. You can't mass produce awesome. Always make your capes detachable. Always know which walls are load-bearing.

Any interest in a San Angelo-set campaign? In it, the heroes are members of the Justice Foundation superhero team and have to be, at least, 16-years-old. Paragon has passed away, as has Benjamin Morgan. The heroes have two aircraft, the second-generation Turbojet, and a helicopter as well as a small support staff.

(Inspired by the Villain Theme Team thread) Just for fun, I thought we might collectively create a few villain theme teams. All of the members have to match the theme, whether in name, powers, or appearance. A bit of obscurity (as in Blue Raja from the Mystery Men movie) is acceptable as long as the poster explains how the character actually relates to the team's theme. Descriptions of each character (appearance, personality, powers, etc.) can be as brief or as detailed as the poster wishes. Full writeups aren't necessary. Here's the guidelines: Someone provides a theme and a number of members, and then posters that follow can provide a character or two…
