This week's award goes to Chris, for: "In my experience, Neanderthals *always* attack aliens." This replaces the previous title-holder, from Jason: "I made my INT roll, and I've decided to do it anyway." dw

(I tried searching and didn't see anything that matched. Apologies if this has already been scooped.) Most of us are familiar with HeroMachine (if you're not, give it a look, it's pretty nifty). In the last day or so, I learned about a similar online toy that generates art in the style of the DC animated shows. EDIT: I've been asked to put in the new link that actually works. Here you go: http://fabricadeherois.blogspot.com/ Here's a sample, one of my long-running PCs, Troubadour: Enjoy! (EDIT: I did put the final product through Photoshop, but only to insert his proper chest insignia. Everything else is from the program.)

(Inspired by the Villain Theme Team thread) Just for fun, I thought we might collectively create a few villain theme teams. All of the members have to match the theme, whether in name, powers, or appearance. A bit of obscurity (as in Blue Raja from the Mystery Men movie) is acceptable as long as the poster explains how the character actually relates to the team's theme. Descriptions of each character (appearance, personality, powers, etc.) can be as brief or as detailed as the poster wishes. Full writeups aren't necessary. Here's the guidelines: Someone provides a theme and a number of members, and then posters that follow can provide a character or two…

Since I'm running Mutants and Masterminds, but in a predominant Champions universe, I thought I would share some of my doodles as I get them done for my game. I'll post stuff here occasionally. this particular beastie is being written up in MM, but was already featured as a Champions critter. Neil has the file on this one (as do I, but it is so buried in my mac, and it is a creation workshop file and won't be read by my mac) I'm hoping y'all can convince him to post it here. Anyways the art is below. Have fun. {If you are curious about the MM stats, here is the thread to that...page 7} http://www.greenronin.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1570

Just thought I would start a thread for anyone who wanted to post thier images of their characters. This is not a critique thread. I'm not an artist and the images I post are simply templates with a bunch of cut and paste with some shoestring and leather attached. (8^D) This thread is for those who wish to share thier artwork. However, please do not critique any artwork unless the artist asks for it. Thanks. (8^D) - Christopher Mullins

Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game They are whiney little babies, then. I was the only tank (Inv/SS) on two different Frostfire missions and not only was able to manage the aggro just fine, but was complemented on the fact that no one died, at all, during either mission, because I kept the aggro under control. The days of herding are over. Fine. The lost art of single-mob taunting is making a comeback.

A spin-off from the Create a Villain Theme Team thread. These heroes can be potential (not-so) friendly rivals to your PCs or just flavor characters for other parts of your game world (if your heroes are in New York and they need to hit Los Angeles or France or Japan for a case). Perhaps these heroes only focus on a particular fringe element like animal rights, space travel or protecting Delaware. Maybe they're Rust Age to your PCs Four-Color or vice versa. They could be altruistic or mercenary. Team Name: Number: Theme/Motive: Remember! Once you post the last hero of a team, you then come up with the next concept! ***** Team Name: The Even-Odds…

Which meaningless, poorly-drawn, or unlikely in result ("Beast Boy just beat Darkseid?") brawl do you nominate? I've been reading little beyond JSA recently, so I can't think of a good choice right now. The closest I can get is the first Doomsday-Superman fight. When Supes saw how dangerous Doomsday was, why didn't he just try grabbing Doomsy and hurling him into space at escape velocity?

The Rules: First one person posts an image that is or could be a superhuman. Then others submit a name, powers and basic background. This doesn't have to include Champions mechanics or be in the Champions universe. Once three submission are done or a week has passed then the person that posted the original image picks the best description. Then that poster can post an image or pass it on. Then the first person to post an image takes their turn. Hopefully this will be fun and provide some inspiration for NPCs if nothing else. First Image

Re: The New Circle Fine. Ill try to avoid you (as I have been doing for some time now), and hope that you will do the same vis a vis me. Just to be very clear, I will interpret any comment from you on my content submissions to be a continuation of this. Hopefully you'll resist the urge to offer your advice to me in the future, since it clearly is not welcome.

Never bring a gun to a swordfight. Don't fly higher than you can fall. Terminal velocity is your friend. Growth is the amazing power to make yourself an easy target. Never call someone "dead" until you finish the autopsy. Being dead doesn't necessarily stop people from making trouble There is no idea so stupid that it can't be used to hurt people. You can't mass produce awesome. Always make your capes detachable. Always know which walls are load-bearing.

That's a one off example, though. And IRRC, Shang Chi in his own series is in more of a martial arts sub-genre. There's also a good chance that the writers have no idea of how tough a shark is. For that matter, neither do we. We do know that humans get knocked out from the brain sloshing around in their noggin when they're hit. I'd say that a shark, with its itty bitty brain isn't going to be knocked out in the same way. It's possible that he actually beat it to death (do you remember if the shark recovered from the beating?), and with the shark's PD vs. a normal attack, reduced by the water resistance, then it wouldn't be unreasonable to require six shots. Then ag…

Okay, I have decided to populate my One off Champions Universe, using characters that I liked who didn't make the cut, characters we played back in the day, and some ideas I have had recently that kind of clutter the official CU if I stick them there. One of my challenges to myself, is to create a character, reasonably complete, bio, disads, etc, art work too. one a day for the next year. From 11/1/03 to 10/31/04. The art is lagging but I have preliminary sketches and on a good weekend I should be able to catch up. My first creation... Ok folks. I just noticed an announcement for a new product. "Forgotten Enemies #1". The first one focuses on Gryphon, Halfjack (who had 5th edition stats in the VIPER book), and Hideous. I don't own this book yet, but, well... Is Halfjack still a member of VIPER's Dragon Branch? Is Hideous still the rampaging beauty smasher, or is he more akin to Jason Vorhears, killing anyone who enters his territory? Has Gryphon devolved into a mindless beast, or has he recovered some human intelagence? Also, who would YOU like the author to tackle next? Mine is Timemaster, followed by Road Kill.

Hello, everyone. After going through trials and tribulations trying to set up a face to face game of Champions, I've decided to switch venues to Hero Central. The campaign has material assembled from all of my previous Champions campaigns, adjusted to (hopefully) form a coherent campaign world. I'm looking for people interested in playing a Bronze-Age game with character interaction, classic struggles of good against evil, and some shades of grey that require difficult decisions. I have a rather sparse campaign webpage at this link. It contains two PDF handouts that give important background information about the campaign world. More information will be added …

This got started over on the old boards as Project 3000, referring to the statistic in Champions Universe that there are ~3000 costumed supers on Champions Earth. Alistair posted a challenge to collect 3000 halfway decent names, positing that it was perhaps not possible. Boy, was he in for a shock. We shot past 3000 names before stalling a bit somewhere around 4000, with occassional contributions getting us to about 5000. Then the boards went down. It came back on these boards as Bring back Project 3000 (maybe 6000), but I thought such a useful thread should be more intuitively titled. So here it is. Contributions are encouraged. Having emerged as the …

The opinion was voiced recently that 350 point character are "schmucks" in the Dark Champions forum. Not my choice of words, but there you have it. How many people share that opinion? Personally, I've found the 350 or so level is where I most enjoy Champions and I've found the characters (creatively created and used) to be pretty competent and fun to play. Compared to Monsters like Dr. Destroyer and Tyrannanon? I guess not, but I tend to rate characters more on what they are in the "real world". Maybe it comes from using Hero more on the Hero level than the Superheroic.

Do you prefer to play Superheroes that: 1. Will not Kill (Code vs Killing Ver Com, Total) 2. Will kill under extreme duress (Com, Stro) 3. Seek to avoid it, but will if the situation demands it (Com,mod) 4. Feel its a war and if there are casualties that is the nature of war (No CAK) 5. Justice sometimes demands death (Vigilante Mentality)

I've been toying with an idea for a game, and though I'd see if anyone would be interested in playing. If so I'd probably run it on HeroCentral. My plan was to set the game in the Marvel universe, circa 2 generations in the future (45-65 years roughly). The game would be based on the idea that the Avengers are reforming after years of absence. Players would play characters who have ties to the original Avengers in some way or another. You could play children, grandchildren, distant relations, or folks who where just inspired by one of the original Avengers. If you want to use one of the current names (Captain America, etc) thats cool, or you could go with an a name t…
