Hi there. I'm getting ready for a Champions 6E campaign set in Detroit in 1988. It's meant to be the first part of a pipe dream of numerous campaigns taking place in different locations in the Champions Universe during various time periods in the Champs timeline. The plan is for each campaign to have campaign guidelines, themes etc. appropriate for the corresponding genre/sub-genre/style. As such, this first campaign in comics' Iron Age will be be heavily influenced by Dark Champions, though set at Standard to Very Powerful power levels. Depending on how things play out, we may even get to play out the Battle of Detroit in 1992. How cool would that be? The cla…

I'd like to create a character who uses sound powers. Oddly, I have never been creative with sound powers. Can you help out with suggestions, or a book that has suggestions? Thanks in advance. One more thought, if I went the way of 'song powers', throw suggestions out for that, too!

I was looking through it and noticed this chart of limitations for regional defenders. It gives a bonus based on the area. My question is does this bonus apply across the board or does it apply in one specific part of character generation? The big chart wasn't exactly clear. Thank you.

Hi All, I might be soon running a Super Martial Art game, one shot. And I was curious if any one has ever used Powerhouse. And if so, did they use him as is or modified him? I personally never liked the Growth, Flight and Breathes Water abilities he has. And FWIW, for this game, he’s going to be a Hero.

I have an idea for a villain team. At the top is Singularity, who has bequeathed power to four people who act as his minions and agents in the world. We have: (name): Electromagnetics. Electric blasts, Flight, FF. Mass Driver: Gravity. Similar to above, but also some TK Brute: Strongman. Brick, flight. (name): Radioactive decay. So a lot of drains. And flight. Singularity: good Str, PD ED, flight and a large VPP which allows him to use any power his minions have. I need some names and a few ideas for some powers. Also ideas for plots and such! (Yes this is cribbed from a VERY old White Wolf Magazine articl…

If this has been covered in the past I apologize as I'm new to the forums but I've been searching for quite some time now for a certain style character sheet for Champions 4th edition (I believe -- It's product #450). The sheet was one sided, had the character portrait on the lower right hand side with the disadvantages section above it and a generous section for powers next to it on the lower left hand side. The reason I want this particular sheet is because I started my gaming hobby with this version of Champions, have numerous books for it (I also own 5th and 6th edition, but I prefer 4th edition) and this particular sheet just... feels like home, for lack of a bette…

I have been re-reading my old copy of Strike Force once again, this time looking more closely at the character builds in the book. My understanding is the bulk of the rules used are Champions 3e, however there appears to be mix of 2e/DI/Justice Inc as well. There are a few powers listed that I cannot find reference in the books that I have and hoping for some help with sorting out what they are, and what the modern equivalent would be. Specifically these: - Mental Paralysis: my guess is this would be a Based on EGO version of Entangle? - Healing: simple healing from 5e? - Destruction: my guess is some form of long term Drain? Am I on…

As my Teen Champions game progresses, the PCs have been invited to spend a few days at the Black Mask's family ranch in Montana. (The PCs have "befriended" Black Mask X's daughter at school and Jennifer Ward insists they spend some time there over spring break. Son of El Espectro is also coming...) To set some context, I've advanced the timeline a bit in my universe. Jenifer Ward has retired and passed the cowl to the current Black Mask Amy Jo Woods (her former sidekick Silhouette). David Ward has passed on and the family Ranch is being cared for by Sharon Ward (David's Sister) while Jennifer and her Husband continue to live in Vibora Bay. So I…

The Black Mask lineage has become kind of an important background element of my Teen Champions campaign. As such, I've started to really appreciate my gaps in understanding around what kinds of adventures the family has had over the centuries. Each one is an extraordinary individual, and each of them has been a Skilled Normal (no out and out powers). They also each seem to fit well within the genre tropes of their era. Thing of it is, I'm not sure that I really know what the tropes of each 'Masks era were. One thing that I've noticed is that Black Mask I, by being involved in the US Revolutionary War has a whole host of stuff to pull from. Black Mask IV h…

I have been digging through my collection of HERO books, which is more scattered than I realized, in hopes of finding guidelines each edition had for the range of Stats, SPD, CV, Skills, AP and other game elements. My brain had convinced me that each edition had these guidelines but so far the only version I could find was the Aaron Allston 5e Champions Genre book. The information is on page 126 and breaks down all the listed elements by power level of the campaign (Low, Standard, High, Cosmic, etc) While part of my question deals with comparing the power levels by edition, I do not want to list the chart here, I am unclear on how that would fall under gui…

Recently started reading through Champions 3rd edition out of historic curiosity, having never looked at the rules from before The BBB era. Looking over Martial Arts, they are very different, but simpler in a good way, from what I am used to and I need some help with making sense of the mechanic. Specifically the way it is described in the "Adding Damage" section on pg 75 (using Green Dragon for the example) does not match the actual Green Dragon character sheet. I am trying to figure out if I am missing something or if this is one of the classic "math errors" from the older editions. For reference to those that don't have the book my question f…

Could someone give me some ideas for a 350 point Powered Armor? The most powerful attacks are 14d6. Disads are not important. I can fill in the 150 points. I am running out of points. I have used OIF and Linked at the same time and I think I shouldn't do that even when the Character Creator has no issue with it. It doesn't seem like it should work. When I don't use those two together, I run out of points. Anyway, YOUR character builds would be a great start for me so I see what to start with. Maybe I'm just not being creative enough. Thanks. Also, this ISN'T for a game. I'm just playing around. It's what I do when I'm in the middle o…

I feel like I've seen people talking about this in the forums, and that there are a few people who do this, but I'll be darned if I can mine up any threads. I want to start using xp as Fate Points or how Karma is used in Faserip. I think I want it to be that you can burn an unused xp to increase a roll by one. Does anyone do this? If so, how does it work in your game?

Well, I finally have been able to start (and consistently run) my Champions campaign set in a combined Marvel & DC universe. It's a superheroic campaign where DC & Marvel Universes have merged, and I'm busy coming up with rationale, pruning, and GM's fiat that justifies why the power levels are low, and why the multiple threats to Earth, The Universe, and Everything haven't emerged and haven't driven the populace insane. I'll post in the future about how I've been trying to translate all this "Session Zero" stuff for super-heroic campaigns into my own setting and universe -- and how I'm actually taking some of the adventures from other RPGs…

i decided to separate this from the Forgotten Enemies thread. This is the newest line from Tiger PAw Press and will be part of the Hall of Champions on DrivethruRPG and of course the Hero Games Webstore. This line will, much like Forgotten Enemies, bring organizations to 6th edition that were originally in 4th edition or early. Feel free to suggest other organizations that i my have left out. Looking at the following: Sanctuary, Project Ubermachien, Witch, Red Doom, Raven, VOICE. Others could be added as well but that's the list for now. I working on Sanctuary at the moment, hoping to have it ready soon. Here's a look at the cover https://drive.goo…

Question for you guys, how much XP would you give NPC's in your campaign, both heroes and villains to simulate that they started off as 350 point characters but they are now two, five, ten, twenty years on in their careers? Would it be a range? what would be your maximum? I am trying to simulate and build various NPC's of various experience levels and I want to simulate such xp in as logical way as possible. Would it be anything from 10-50 points a year depending on the NPC? how would you and do you update long running NPC's in your campaign? Dean

I wanted a major new villain for my latest Champions adventure, who for reasons of plot had to be an alien. Here's what I came up with. I liked him enough to make an illustration and then format it as a pdf, just to see if I could remember how to do it. Having gone that far, I might as well share the result. I hope you can find a use for Nightfall in your games. He's written for 5th edition because that's what my gaming group still uses. Dean Shomshak EDIT: This link deactivated. See below for the new link. Nightfall-Corrected 5e.pdf

Social Media seems to be everywhere. What would your character do if it all just disappeared, sites and contents?

Just wanted to start a new thread dedicated to the future product Muerte Files. It will be a POD project the included all released material by Tiger Paw Press. The material will be re-edited and include new material. Look at my notes there will be a new villain team called the Reapers that are connected to TI, as well as the Conquistadors from TPP VC II. There will be two adventures plus other adventure hooks. Two places of interest on San Muerte, as well as some important people linked to them. More on the secrets of Muerte discussed in Villainy Codex II. Still considering other additions as well. Will come with a wrap around cover by John Becaro,…

Hey everyone. Does anyone have a scan of Champions: The Super Hero Role Playing Game (2nd Edition) pages 37-44? They are missing from the existing files, and DriveThru has brought this to my attention. - Jason

Oops. Double post. Saved it by making it a review. Anyways, it's a relatively short book designed for putting together quick basic heroes for starting play for players who don't exactly have the time to do a fine tune build. The builds are not exactly balanced but don't exactly look thusly either (no 15d6 blasts or 8d6 killing attacks). It's good for a beginning character which can be balanced later on. Steven W. Otte isn't a bad writer for someone writing his first rpg book. The sample characters are ok (The Amazing Connor: a street magician turned the real thing, Blue Streek: a female reporter turned speedster, Dragonflame: a trained …
