For my games I use the classic "Generic Martial Arts" for characters who are good fighters, but have no real style (I also use Commando Training and Dirty Infighting this way as well) Well I have decided to do a ranged version and wondered what everyone here thought would be good manuvers for it I am aiming for a 20 point package, and other than Dodge based manuvers do not want any HtH manuvers in it Let see those ideas...

Well, according the the latest JLA vs. Avengers, Thor goes down under the fists of Superman. Supes managed to say "...may have been the toughest opponent I've ever..." before being gang-mauled by the other Avengers. As for Cap vs. Bats, they did a little dance... check out each others stances, combat abilities, reflexes... very little combat. Finally Bats admits that Cap would beat him after a very long battle. Then they both decide to get to the bottom of whoever is manipulating the two teams. One of the other things I liked is the fact that there are differences between the universes that affect powers. Flash's Speed Force is one. Chaos Magic is another... The…

Hello, folx! Just wanted to let you know Ben has posted the regular monthly update to the Rules FAQ. (Various alternate-format versions will be available as the people who prepare them have the time and interest to complete them.) We've also updated most of the errata files; a few others will follow shortly. If you have any questions/comments, please post 'em in the "Company Questions" thread of the same title.

Make a device that can, in most cases restrain a supervillain for five hours for 30 Active Points or less. The device should have the OIF limitation

One of my my primary characters is a martial artist. The campaign is just now getting restarted with the Power Of Fred, and I'm trying to build a power that doesn't seem to fit anything currently extant, so I thought I'd call on the brains of Herodom Assembled for help. The concept: Someone manages to hit Steel Thunder. Knockback is done. How do you reduce knockback damage without minimizing the amount of knockback? Her ki powers are more designed on movement and attack, not on things like 'rooting to the earth'. More like a super rolling-with-the-punch, controlling the knockback with her martial arts and acrobatic skills. I was thinking something like Kno…

I'm working on a campaign for Champions set in the present day in Charlotte, NC. The basic premise is a 'Mutant Hysteria' campaign where the superheroes have recently appeared (publicly), and their appearance was triggered by a terrorist-released virus. Anyway, I'm putting together a team, either as NPCs or as pregenerated PCs called (tentatively) the Queen City Knights. (Charlotte is refered to as the Queen City) I only have two characters in the works right now that are mostly completed..... Bolt - An energy Projector that was struck by lightening during an assault by a white supremecist group. S.C.A.R.A.B. - (Self Contained Autonomic Reflex Augmen…

The Dragon's Gate Preview PDF October 24, 2003 (Elk Grove, CA) Gold Rush Games has released a 13-page PDF preview of The Dragon's Gate: San Angelo's Chinatown. The Dragon's Gate details the Chinatown neighborhood of the fictional city of San Angelo, the City of Heroes (which is detailed in the critically acclaimed and Origins Award-nominated book of the same name), including the people and places therein, from traditional apothecaries to the nefarious tongs that control the Chinatown underworld, as well as a detailed time-line of the neighborhood, adding detail to the already rich history of San Angelo, and a detailed map showing more than 100 locations des…

Viper is trying to capture the hero Reason they want to drain the electric hero to use his energy in a resurection prossess of a super soldier villain. Essentialy I see a mad scientist resurecting Zombies, and Viper agents... Help me flush it out

Just picked up a bunch of the "Essential" line of books from Marvel. It's a trip looking back at the characters from the 60s. From Iron Man in his sheet metal (then chainmail) armor, with transistorized grenades, to the Fantastic Four with the radar that can "detect human flesh covered in steel", they sure used some odd devices. It's interesting to see how the characters changed, especially in terms of power. For example, Thor originally could manipulate energy (magnetic) with his hammer, Sub Mariner could store and manipulate electricity, Iron Man had transistorized magnets that could pull metal objects (even so much that they exploded). He made an image project…

Hey folks, I'm working on putting together a team and want your input. This team is more for stories than for RPGing since I haven't had a chance to find any gamers in town yet. I want to hear from everyone on what types of characters make a balanced team. I am thinking Teen Titansish type of team. Young but somewhat experienced. The first character I have is Robin like but not the team leader, but more of a field leader in combat. Anyway, what all of you think? Matthew

I'm revamping a character based on the Ultra-Boy idea of one power at a time. (Funny, I always thought that this idea was so ridiculous that I became obsessed by it, and now my main character is based on it. Hmm. That kind of thing happens a lot in my life it seems. Don't even get me started on clowns...) So anyway, I originally used a multipower for him. I got into a big 'discussion' with a gm trying to explain the sfx on this. That was a headache. I got to thinking recently about doing my character as a Multiform. A lot more character sheets, but more accuracy, I think. I just wanted to see what ideas or thoughts the assemblage could provide.

I'm hoping to borrow (steal) the great ideas you have had for a base. So what kinds of things have you put in base? I'm asking for unique features or little things that any base might have but, for some reason, most people forget to include. The base I am building is supposed to be this technological wonder, a tesseract, with vast interior space parceled out on multiple levels. It's meant to be a source of adventure for the heroes in my new campaign in and of itself.

Inspired in part by the "Champions of Evil" thread here. As we know, good supervillains are hard to come by. Sometimes it's a good idea to base one on a succesful good guy. So, using our own characters... what if your super hero(s) had "Joined the dark side"? What would have happened to do it, and what would they be like?

I need some feedback on a new villan I'm unleashing on my unsuspecting heros. Supervillian teams bore them, Viper is a drag, Even our favorite Meglomanical Arch Superfiend is old hat. What I'm trying to do is make them afraid for their characters, really afraid. They've accumulated enough experince to be relativly unafraid of any regular stand-up superfight. I want to put the fear of death into them. Now, I haven't got all the particulars hammered out, but she's basicly a female shooter with minor gadget based powers, and characteristics at the high end of normal, with one really horrific sniper rifle... "Terminus Est" Rifle: 4d6 RKA, Armor Piercing x…

Hey Folks, I've got a bit of a conundrum. I'm trying to devop a female character who is kinda silver age-ish in outlook: trusting, kinda naive, optimistic, upbeat..you know the drill. Early 60's Marvel. Her rundown: 350 - 385 points 17-18 years old. Light manipulation abilties (Multipower with huge ass Flash that costs her bigtime, other Flashes that would affect Radar and other Unusual Senses...light images, invisibilty, enhanced senses maybe some absorption or forcefield type powers...I want leave enough room so that as she gains points new abilities begin to pop up at an alarming rate...maybe even an Invisible Flash against Sight...is that …

Okay, I have no say in the company and this is as far from official as you can get, but I am curious, what rules would you change given the chance? I'll list a few: Darkness as a power is gone (Change Enviroment is now the way you do those smoke bombs, etc...) Duplication and Summoning are combined into one power (Called Summon). As a +1 you can control your summoned creature, as a -1 it can have the exact same stats as you have

So my PCs have done the nearly unthinkable in a Champions Millenium City campiaign... They stopped Grond on one of his rampages and did a kindness for him by removing the circuitry in his head. (The control circuitry in his head mentioned in CKC had been crudely reprogrammed to inflict massive pain on him as a means of behaviorial control by a group I shan't name here, in case one of my players happens to read this thread) Now he will more or less do what they ask of him (Sort of like the old fable about the lion abd the mouse). It gets better...they are hiding him from the authorities and trying to "help" Grond find the people who put the mind contro…

I am working on a character (or substitude charater) for a PBEM game. OK. I managed to fill up all the character and disadvantage points. I traded the Transform to Mindcontrol (It will take a while to break out I think) OK. Any other comments or suggestions on background or character sheet? BACKGROUND Deuit Dumas did not have a happy childhood. Since early elementary school he has been the but of jokes and teasing that he has never been able to escape. Deuit has been called Dimwit Dumb Ass by everyone but his parrents and teachers (and a few times a few teachers let a Mister Dumb Ass slip) Even with the love and support of his parents, De…
