I have the 5th Ed Hero book. I'll be starting up a Champs campaign soon, one where all the players will be playing villains. It will be set in the official CU, but set in Boston. I have the members of the BHL (Boston Hero's League) as well as a few other local heros and villains for the players to interact with. Also my local mastermind villain. I DO plan to pick up Conquerors, Killers, And Crooks as well as Champions Universe. Like I said, I have the big black 5th Ed. book. Eventually I'll get Champions Battlegrounds. Do I really NEED the Champions book? I'm thinking rather than the big black book, I'll recommend my players pick up that one. Tha…

In the Champions Universe book there are some hints about some pulp era characters. Are there any official stats on them somewhere? There characters that a refer to are: Empire Club (Gentleman's Social Club) Axel Lidenbrock Black Mask VII (Jason Ward) Black Eagle Ryanna the Jungle Queen Raven Velvet Phantom Midnight Brigade (a team, that incl. the two above) Black Mask VIII (Jeffrey Layton Ward) Jimmy Tompion Air King (Villain) Bill Jeffries(Lefty Legrand/Black Owl) King Oceanus of Atlantis Dargon the Usurper Nereus the Wizard Mara of Atlantis (Sea Hawk) Amy Levesque Navt Lieutenant Barry Colville Cobra Futurian Grey Guard…

I have the Champions in my campaign (it's ran in MC), but I don't like using certain memberes of the team. My changes thus far has been to remove Witchcraft (I don't like Mystical characters being really blatant in my campaign; they are there, sure, but they don't like being Blatant). I also don't have ... Nighthawk is it? Mainly because I have two dark and brooding PCs and I figured it was partially redundant. Also I changed Ironclad from an Alien to something from another dimension (because I don't like blatant aliens either) and made Kinetik a member of the champs (Basicly an ally to the champs; he attends the meetings most of the time, he helps them in most …

Creating a clone is a crime against humanity: Malachite has gotten a hold of some of your favorite PCs DNA, and is working on a clone of him. Can or should you destroy him(yes the clone will grow to have your powers)

In one of the things I've been watching recently, five teenage girls in a military unit have the ability to summon suits of power armor from within their spirits. fair enough. the trick is -- THEY DON'T WEAR THEM! They control the suits remotely with their bodies and stand on platforms in the open while doing so. The suits have complete freedom of movement, but offer no protection to the girls, who are just as vulnerable to attack as normals 9maybe even more so, since they're out in the open and too busy controlling the armor to really defend themselves). If you wanted to give a player-character this kind of ability, with this kind of weakness, how would you go about…

In the 5th Edition Champions Universe, in 1980, the American Superhuman and Paranormal Registration Act was passed with (it seems) strong public support but an unwelcome reception among super heroes. Identies are required, but only 'authorized' personel can gather that info from the data base. It is claimed that it has NEVER Been hacked. It's not heavily enforced, but if you're not registered, it would seem police and govt officials won't raise one finger to help you beyond putting the prisoners in jail. Now, OOC (Out of Character) I am not too crazy about this set up, but I'm trying to go with it. However, I'm curious just how many characters are registering (o…

One of my player killed a member of Psi (Soulfire to be exact...a young misguided youth of 19 ). We've taken a campaign hiatus which gives me time to think on what to do. I'm thinking of Murder Two and haven't decided if the DA wants to try to prove pre-meditation since the group was on patrol to do battle with Psi and "ran" into them. It was definitely an excessive use of force...Oh yeah, and the "hero" left the scene of the crime. Psi can also run amok with this...bad publicity and mental suggestions galore!

In reading the other Characters who Kill thread, An entertaining thought occured. I stared this thread to not detract from the other. Your PC superteam is at headqusrters when a call comes in from the Warden at Stronghold. One of the villains the PCs put away has been tried, convicted and been given the death penalty. The problem is, Stronghold doesn't have the capacity to carry out the sentence. The PCs are the only ones who've ever managed to injure him.

I'm sure this has been done to death. If so, I'm sorry. Before I continue, a little background - I've been playing Champs since '85. LOVE the system and the genera. I'm looking to get some players in my gaming group to play Champs for the first time. I'm thinking it would be fun if I have the players make up super VILLAINS. I would have one "Master Mind" lever super villain to gather them and give them short- and long-term objectives, but more or less leave them to their own devices. As the GM, I'd run the police, the local super heros and the UNTIL Rapid Responce teams, as well as the local uber-vigalante (can you say "Harbringer of Justice?"). …

Hey all - check out this site: International Heroes It includes stuff from TV and books and comics... and even from certain "Heroic RPGs". Er, Steve - this wouldn't be a copyright issue, would it? I'm actually kind shocked that the Philippines has such a large representation there. The UK section is just too cool. Sapphire and Steel, anyone?

OK, you need a quick villain group for tonights run. You have the Champions. What do you do to turn these good guys bad? Defender with a MP full of RKAs? Witchcraft with tactical sense? Nighthawk with a LAW rocket and a dream?

When I used Metacreator I had converted all of the Villains & Vigilantes characters from the books to HERO. Well aparently, I neglected to convert the Villains section I had created from MC to the Hero Designer format. So to remedy that I have begun with the Crushers. Many GM's and games have Meta-Plots. Kinda like Babylon 5's five year plan. I have used them before in other genres, but never before for Champions. What kind of meta-plots have you used?

Those of you familiar with the D.C. series know what I'm talking about. The Suicide Squad was (at least in one of it's incarnations) a chance for super criminals to redeem themselves, and earn reduced sentences. They were also often considered 'expendable' Hence the name. I was never a big DC fan, but I always found the concept of the Suicide Squad innovative, at least in the Super Hero genre. Then someone had to go post a 'redeemable' thread, and get my imagination perked again. Thanks a lot. It occurs to me Stronghold maybe nigh overflowing some days, and the govt may decide to put those extras to work. They'd need a name ("Suicide Squad" is copyrig…

One of the players in my campaign wants to build a Kim Possible clone. I'm kind of scratching my head so I thought I'd turn to everyone for abilities, stats or whatever else you can suggest. I'm looking at Digital Hero 2 for the Gymanist martial arts but still, I need some help here, particularly on skills, stats, personality or whatever else.

After going through the elemental control "debate" in the hero forum, I decided to look up one of the characters mentioned. His writeup was interesting and I was curious to see how people might design him. I am, of course, referrring to Reed Richards - Mr Fantastic. Personally, although I like the character, and grew up on the FF (including the cartoons), I think his power is ridiculous. Stretchy/elastic guys have always seemed like a stupid idea to me. Just my opinion. Anyway, I figured I'd retype his power limits, and see what people make. Whether its just the power or a whole character, I would just like to see what people make out of the same words - it…

Assume you wanted to add an extra hundred experience points to each Champion, to put them in the "High Powered Super Hero" range of 450. Where would you put it for each? Obviously we can't post full sheets (as we want folks to buy the Champions book) but we could at least post where those hundred points would go. What would we buy off, what would we boost up, etc? This was already discussed briefly in the past on http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2629 but not to a full hundred points worth. Some people seem to think that the Champions SHOULD be one of the premiere and most powerful teams in the CU, others disagree, …

It's time for another Champions Good Idea/Bad Idea... Good Idea: Having a powered armor suit, whether defined as OIF or OIHID. Bad Idea: Having no useful abilities outside of the suit. Worse Idea: Wearing nothing underneath but your skivies the one time the bad guys manage to strip it off you.

One of the PC heroes in my campaign recently crossed the line and killed a villain. I have been running the Demons Rule adventure, during which the heroes must battle real demons who are using teenage gang members as host bodies. After the first major battle with the Demons, one of the heroes becomes convinced that there will be no way for Stronghold to contain the defeated Demons. Not yet knowing that the Demons are using teenage gang members as host bodies, the hero decides that the only course of action is to kill the Demons. It took him several phases to kill the Demon, as he wanted to rip it's head off with his great strength. Let me tell you, he and the rest of the …

Nearly everyone in my group keeps getting on my case about using FW. I was in a campaign a few weeks ago, and out of 15 constructs (they were actually each based on 294 points, vs. 6 270ish PCs) and thanks to being able to take a few down to 1/8 Def with FW, I was able to take out quite a few of them with an RKA. Now we're starting a new campaign, and everyone is agaisn't FW saying it's to unbalancing. Some wanted to take it out of the game, the GM threatened to just give everyone a ton of lack of weakness. We finally settled on making it an attack power, so one you do it, your turn's over. Does anyone else have more experience with FW? Is it really unbalancing?…

I've got this idea for a character, but no name. Preamble to my idea: I was thinking while reading Robert Graves' "Greek Gods and Heroes" about avatar super-heroes. This is to say super-heroes whose powers stem from a particular deity. The most popular for most PCs are gods like Heracles, Athena, Ares, etc. But I started thinking about Hermes. God of stealth, theft, and deception a Hermetic avatar would also be adept at stopping stealth, theft, and deception as well. Hermes is also the god of boxing and wrestling which is what passed for martial arts back then. In a modern setting, I think it would be fair to say Hermes would be the god of unarmed combat or m…

I have a character who has a minor transform... As my character is Welsh fey, I want to do minor curses... but since it's a Champions game she's in, can anyone give me some hints as to some good curses and what game effects they would have in a Champions (not fantasy hero) game?

The Champions have always been examples of beginning characters, and their membership has changed repeatedly. They've lost many heroes over the years, they're hunted by everyone, and (judging from CKC and older enemies books) they foolishly hunt much more powerful individuals and teams. So, the question is simple: How did the missing Champions die? How will the current team go?
