For fun and eventually when I plan on doing in the far future a gonzo shared DC/Image/Marvel campaign for my players (we are currently knee deep in a Warhammer 4th edition campaign) I am going to post here my versions of well known and sometimes more obscure characters from the main comics publishers. I will be building them using Hero Designer and I have not regularly played a hero game for many years, so I would love some feedback if you think I could have done things differently or better with the builds or if you think I have forgotten anything with the characters themselves. I am going to try to make the builds as internally consistent against…

While researching the Torch for my characters thread I came a cross this entry at the Marvel Wiki. Superhuman Durability: The Human Torch is surprisingly, and extremely durable. He was able to shake off a punch from Gladiator,[117] and has taken multiple punches from Namor. When did this become a thing? I have read FF all the way past the Byrne run (thats admittedly a long time ago) but I dont really remember him being written as super durable, yes his flaming aura protects him from things like bullets and he has a damage shield for sure, but super durability? Whats your thoughts on this?

Hello everyone, I'm going to do a Tribute game for the late Darren Watts at Marmalade Dog, a local Michigan convention. Do any of you have a list of the characters he made for Champions? Any pictures? The intention is that these characters will be descendants of his Golden Age Champions team. Please let me know. I enjoyed gaming and talking Champions with him even if we had a regrettable falling out over politics.

I've googled and googled, and I can't seem to find anything on what the substantive differences are. Just paging through, I can see that there are some slight formatting differences visible here and there, but a spot check hasn't found any differences in the write-ups. And the book itself doesn't seem to contain any mention of why it's a revised edition or why someone would want to buy it if they owned the original edition. I was tuned out of RPGs at the time, so does anyone remember why the book needed a revision?

I have a player who wants to create a character similar to Mystique except this character touches her target she is not only able to mimic their shape, voice, retinol, signature, fingerprints, etc she is also able to copy their powers. Similar to morph from the old silver age ex man, his shoes, and the animated cartoon. He wants to use multi form, but the rules are more deformed not exactly apply in the situation. I suggested we come up with a custom adder to make multi form “cosmic“ but I’m not sure how much that should be. I welcome any suggestions to making this character. One last thing, we use 5e, but I can reverse engineer 6e.

This isn't my character, this is a character created by someone in my son's gaming group. They are just getting started with Champions and are creating their first characters. I feel there are some real problems with this character, but I want to get your far more experienced opinion of the character. And feel free to not hold back on the problems you see. I want to try to make sure the player doesn't end up ruining the experience for themselves or for others at the table. I’ve been reading a lot of early Avengers and in many battles Wasp seems to become forgotten. Obviously her being so tiny puts her out of sight, but she is consistently out of mind after a few minutes of battle with Thor, Iron Man, and the others. Villains like Mandarin and Kang should likely not be this instantaneously forgetful even though they might have more pressing concerns. In your opinions is this a handwave narrative device between the player and the GM or is this nearly a superpower cloaked in writing and special effect? Like a Mind Control, one specific command: forget, with other variables?

Background: In another thread, I noted that the Cu didn't have any robot characters that specialized in fast, skillful hand-to-hand combat -- i.e., martial artists. So I decided to write up one of my own. That's done. In fact, I wrote up a whole team. The background for martial arts robots was obvious: Where are robots a big thing, and martial arts are a big thing? Why, Japan. It's a team of robots that each use a different Japanese martial art. Since as a GM I need villains more than heroes, the robots are villains. Whoever originally thought that building a group of robot martial artists was a good idea, the Yakuza coopted the project to use them…

I'm actually re-doing an an episode I ran six years ago. It was one of my most memorable episodes I've ever run and I'm very excited to do this episode again (complete with an almost 5 minute introductory video). Two heroes in love are being forced apart, and the heroine will have to return home (different dimension) in 3 days. While the two broken-hearted heroes pine for each other, the other heroes have to race around to find out what's going on... and stop it. They just barely did it last time with about an hour to go. This episode back then would actually have the heroine leave so the episode was very much in their hands. I'm tickled to do this again (as well as redo …

Hey all, it has been ages since I posted here, kind of dropped out of the roleplaying scene due to life and other hobbies, but I'm hoping you all can help me out. My son wants to introduce his friends to Hero System to show them that there is more than just class-based systems like D&D available and how Hero can do anything. He is going to use pre-generated heroes for them to play from the Book of Templates, but doesn't know what to run as a one shot to introduce them to the system. He is new to GMing Hero as well, but has played with me GMing so knows the general gist of how it works. He doesn't want to go overboard with this one shot because he wants it to go relati…

For those who know of The Dazzlings (Adagio, Aria, Sonata), I've been planning for quite awhile of having them make an appearance in the campaign. I'll throw out one thought I had but I want to hear some suggestions from you. Just an idea I'm toying with: a heroine who can sing is captured. While the captured heroine is left alone, three other captured ladies talk to the hero to make an escape plan together. I'd like to hear your suggestions.

I posted this on Fantasy Hero forum, but I figure I'll get more feed back here as these are simple rules adjudications. This it in two sections: A) The Dosao Style of magic is one that is very structured (X4 Dispel ) but relies on precise words, gestures and minutie (Gest, Incan, Ext Time). Lockland, a Dasao practitioner, is casting a spell hoping to take out the enemy spell caster. But he decides to do extra focus to really power his spell. Finally his spell goes off. He hits the enemy and feels satisfaction when he appears to drop. (Game Speak he has a 30 point MP with a 6d6 EB slot. He decided to Haymaker the spell.) …

I've been debating this on and off for awhile and want to know what you think. Is Ralph pure STR damage and if so, what STR? Is he STR + Hand Attack and if so, what would you rate him at?

It's a cold December night, and your character is visited by four spirits (one to announce that your going to be visited, and three to drive some sort of message or another). If your character can detect magic or undead or fey they do. But none of the spirits detect as evil. What will your character do?

While patrolling the city, your superhero finds a strange floating wooded door with a wooden cat sign on it. It can't be moved, radiates magic, and smells of food can be smelled from the door. It's Saturday, and while there is a lock on the door, the door doesn't seem to be locked. What will your character do? (Inspired by "Restaurant From Another World".)

Say I have a VPP, and one of the limitations is Mental Powers Only. So you get the usual - Ego Attack, Telekinesis, all the rest. You can hand wave Flight as "I'm using my telekinesis to lift myself." All standard stuff. Would Teleport fit? I only know of one instance in lit/rpg where Teleport was lumped in with psionic powers - Classic Traveler. And even back in the 70s I felt it didn't fit. If you were GM would you allow it? If you were a player would you try to justify it?

In your average TTRPG group, even with just a handful of players, if each of them takes DNPCs, Hunteds, Contacts and Followers, that can quickly become a cast size that could overwhelm a GM. So, how many NPCs is too many? Should a limit exist on the number of NPCs a group can bring to the table as their supporting cast? How about an individual player? What if one player’s supporting cast is significantly larger than those of other players? Should a limit be imposed to keep their NPCs from taking over the campaign?

Or it could just be the top supervillain in the country. Very few females, and a large amount of bricks. This I think is a response to the one generated a couple of weeks back.

Last weekend, we had a battlemap game where various heroes (not in any supergroup) got together at a park to protect a park statue from being stolen from villains. Among these villains is one of the campaign's most powerful bricks: Armageddon. This brick is from an old book "Trouble for HAVOC" (although he no longer has an 8 Spd!). Anyways, my detective character minifig is closest to him; I decided to have him go up against him and I say aloud, "This is nuts, but my character's going for Armageddon." Really, one hit from this brick and my character will go down. Here's where I pull off a few brilliant moves: my detective character has Cinematic Brawling. So, I delay …
