I'm looking to add some roughly 80 AP power stunts to my duplicator's elemental control. These should be powers with SFX of "creating/using duplicates of himself" without using the actual Duplication power (which sits by itelf outside the EC). Thank you in advance for your nefarious and inspired commentary.

I've heard alot about how people view Dr. Destroyer and the various power levels GM's play him at. I thought I'd throw out one of the robots Destroyer's created. The players groan when they see this one. It's still in pre-5th edition rules so I'm not putting down the costs. Of course, I intend to update this to 5th edition. This 'robot' is more of an android but hey, so what. Although it's primary purpose to to guard, it has also been used as a tank. The picture I used was from an old 'The Avengers' comic. It's the issue where Ultron has sent a robot to Henry Pym's lab to acquire Ad Resin X and Ad Resin Y, the Wasp meeting it during the night. If anyone knows what issue I…

Okay, i have posted these guys before, but for my own reasons I am going to post them again. Put simply I had them scattered on 2 other threads, after I am done here I will be cleaning up one of those threads to use it for something else (as it was always intended for but got mildly sidetracted), as for the other thread it will be mostly forgotten (I do not beleive I can delete the whole thread) Okay: In my world the job of the GLC is filled by a group called the Star Knights. They are heavily inspired by an old DC title called the darkstars, with some Knights of yore thrown in. The orrganisation is made up of Five levels: The group is ran by a council, unde…

I have decided to post the characters in the game I am running for everyone to see and comment on. I'd like to have everyone keep the comments at least somewhat constructive. The characters are based in the city of San Angelo and they chose the name Knights of Justice. John

Just thought I'd share this. Recent campaign we had one characters who would show up for a battle and, no matter where it was, three guys dressed as monks would show up and take notes and get onlookers to fill in questionaires about whether this one character would 'make a good Messiah'. Eevry time he tried to talk to them about it they started quoting things he'd said before prefixed with 'Thus spake the Holy One....' Freaked him right out. I know it is a bit silly but it worked well as a recurrent theme in the game and leaves all sorts of interesting plot development areas open. Try it out. You'll like it. Anyone else use any interesting methods to foster cre…

It's late. I'm sick, and I can't seem to sleep. I also have this hero idea tumbling around in my brain that I think is cool, but I don't even know if it's possible. The essence of the concept involves a character that has a multipower that he can't normally use. He also has an Endurance Reserve and a Transfer. The Transfer goes into his Endurance Reserve, and the Endurance Reserve is the only source of power for the Multipower. Oh and the Endurance Reserve starts at zero. So what do you think? Totally gimped design or as cool as my medicated head thinks? All criticism is appreciated.

Here's the idea, please give suggestions: The character, whom we'll tentatively call REACH, has a "cosmic awareness" type of sense. Reach leaves their body at a moment's notice (leaving it vulnerable, like with Astral Travel) but cannot go far. They are then able to observe the area from a 3rd person perspective and can take in all kinds of details that weren't previously noticed. I mean, everything from the fact that the carpet has fleas to the spider in the corner building a web, to the erratic heartbeats of characters and the smell of an ever so slight gas leak in the kitchen. Here's the catch. The reason they can't go far from the body and generally stay…

He was a Legion of SuperHeroes member, nothing but energy in a suit. He'd fire beams out of his hands, feet, face. He could fly. Once he fired his entire "essence" and his suit fell to the floor, empty. Everyone thought he was dead - after a while he was able to get back into his suit again. I don't remember much else about him, and wanted to make an Erg-type character. Anyone remember what he could do? Flight and energy-blasts and an accidental change - was that all there was to this guy?

There's been some lists compiled of Stupid Speedster Tricks and Stupid Brick tricks, how about one for mentalists (Meaning Telepaths and other non physical mentalists, Teeks could use Brick tricks)? Here's a couple I thought about: Universal Translator, Psychic -1/2, cost endurance to start. The Telepath scans the surface (verbalized) thoughts of those around her to gain understanding. If all the minds around her non organic or sheilded, she can't translated. This power does not allow the mentalist to speak a language she is physically incapable of doing. Levels with Pre Based Skills, Cost Endurance, visible to Mental Awareness. The Mentalists uses Telepathy or…

In your stories (or in the CU assuming you use it), assuming a superhuman has an origin like mutant, psionic, alien, science accident/deliberate experiment or special heritage (hypervoluted subrace, child of a god), how feasible is to tinker with/reproduce with the char's superpowers via biotechnology. Eg doing feats like reproducing, enhancing or combining the powers of one or more superhumans in a clone (eg like Magneto's clone, Marvel's Nefaria duplicating and enhancing powers from low-end bricks, energy projectos and speedsters to turn oneself into a Superman on steroids), creating bioweapons tailored to target superpowers, inducing in a bioengineered clone a precise s…

What type of damage would a regular old explosive (like a Stinger missile, let us say) be? I can see cases for both PD from the shockwave and ED from the heat ... what do you call it?

Crossposted Sorceror Conversion

I figure that with his power level, and the fact that D&D sorcery feels more like superheroic magic than ACTUAL fantasy magic (Ooh, I have named spells and magic items in abundance...!), he belongs here as much s anywhere. So... Amazingly, I've finally finished my conversion of the level 31 Sorceror I solo'd BG2 and TOB with (okay, okay, so I cheated on the last two battles - I knew what I needed to do to win, I just didn't have the patience to prove it). Anyway, here he is. (The Summons/Shapeshift are simply as powerful a summon as the relevant AP's stretched to, the Slayer form is him, minus spells, plus 300 points of Hand to Hand goodness.) (Oka…

Let's Talk CvK 1 2 3

Yes, I know we've had other threads on this topic. One of my players gave me a really bizarre interpretation, and I'm wondering if anyone else has run across this one. I'm running a Golden Age Champions game. The player in question was talking with another player outside the game, and her reaction was "let's check this interpretation with the GM". This should be an accurate representation, even though I got most of it from the other player, because Player In Question was sitting right there -- and while he's getting a few points for his speech impediment, there's nothing wrong with his ears. 1) 20 points CvK means the character must actively oppose war by all…

You know ... superhero duos with names like Cloak and Dagger, or Hammer and Anvil. Anybody else come up with any good combos like that that I could steal ... er, that could inspire me? Right now, my best one is Twist (either a spinning-speedster or a dimension warper with 'twisting' visual effects) and Shout (sonic scream). Anybody else got any good ones?

OKay a newbie player has come up with a cool character concept. A young man given time powers by Himself (as an old man). One power is that he want's to freeze someone in time, so time doesn't pass for them. How would I model this? I'm of 2 minds myself; my first idea was a mental entangle. But as I thought it didn't quite fit. So my second thought was a Transform, but I'm not sure what level. Except for being frozen in time (it would automatically wear off in a day if not dismissed sooner) nothing changes. SO Minor or Major? What would you do?

While looking for something else, ran across this. Very nice summary, could be a great resource for GMs bringing in players unfamiliar with the superhero genre. An excerpt: (edit) Gee, I guess I should add a link: Wikipedia Superhero definition/article

Okay I'm building a character with a large number of undefined multiforms who is able to clone other people he comes in physical contact with. Once he clones them he basically copies their intire character sheet as one of his available multi-forms, complete with psychological limitations. Now the kicker is that I want to work in some sort of limitation on the power so that the more personalities he abosorbs the crazier he gets. I was thinking like maybe a -1 to perception checks or possibly all intellegence based rolls per 2 or 4 personalities he clones becuase each personality becomes something of a voice inside his head once he clones them. The voices only affec…

I'm starting a new campaign in the Spring, and I'm planning something a little fruity. I'd like to hear from anyone who has tried a similar scheme or just has some thoughts they'd like to share. First off, there will be no pre-established AP, DC, Spd, CV or other limits. Once all the characters have been submitted, they will be considered in comparison to one another, and tweaks will be suggested and/or required. Additionally, the players will be encouraged to choose a "signature power" or shtick. This can be a single Power or tightly defined suite. The more they screw themselves in other areas, the more I'll let them get away with in their shtick. Yes, I'm driv…

I started a Thread in the Hero System discussion section and it almost changed to a campaing setting discussion. Which is fun, but I thought i'd start adding my campaing material here. It will also make it's appeareances on my personal web site soon. I don't know at what speed I will update this section but I will do so at my pace. [i will update this post when I am completely done with the history but I will tell you, in subsequent posts, when I make updates here.] Your feedback will be appreciated be it good or bad. If the history seem cloudy on some aspect, do not hesitate to ask for clarifications. It will help me make sure that all is clean. Other…

I’ve picked up my copy of The Ultimate Mystic on Friday and skimmed through it before really starting to read it Saturday. I’ve never read The Ultimate Super-Mage and I don’t remember reading anything else by Dean Shomshak, so here’s my first impression. Shomshak starts off by explaining that he doesn’t intend to offend anyone’s religious beliefs but no religion gets any special treatment. From my reading, that means he adopts the Joseph Campbell approach and describes magic and religion in terms of the common symbolism found among all the peoples of the world. The book is patterned after Mystic Masters, but is far more detailed with a lot more ideas f…
