First bit, I apologize if this has been explained already, I could not find it if it was. Now, honestly, I hoping I'm just doing something wrong, and the answer is just sitting in front of my face. But when i go to build a shield as per the explanations in the Equipment Guide, HD wont let me. When building the DCV portion of the Multipower, I can not add Real Armor, Mass, or STR Min Reqs, without force adding. Not that i cant just do that, but it seems silly when this is how your build a shield...

Is there a way to do comments inside a HD file, but have it stripped so it doesn't show up in the output?

I'm planning a Fantasy Hero campaign in which most spells will be: Increased Endurance Cost (x2 END; -1/2), Gestures (-1/4), Incantations (-1/4), Requires A Water Magic Roll (Skill roll, -1 per 20 Active Points modifier; -1/4), IIF (Spell Components; -1/4) It starts filling up the character sheet pretty quickly, especially as many "spells" are actually multipowers with the modifiers applying to every slot. Is there anyway of creating a "grouped" limitation that appears as just "Magic" but still causes the increased END to auto calculated and lets modifier intelligence function?

So I am building an Images power: Sight Group (10 points), +6 PER roll (18 points), normal hearing (3 points). That's 31 points. When I consider adding Increased Maximum Range, it says base max range (+0_ is 310 meters. On p. 129 under Range, Standard Range is 10 x CP in the base power...specifically noting, don't count adders. The +6 PER and extra sense are listed as Adders in HD. So I looked through the rules...and ok, the PER bonus and extra sense are NOT listed in the Adders section of the power, suggesting they're considered part of the base power, and therefore yes, they help increase the range. BUT...I can go to Clairsentienc…

So the background for this character concept is he was gonna be from around the old Soviet Union; Belarus ultimately looks like it'll work. That meant, for languages, I was gonna go with Byelorussian, Russian, and...what the heck, Ukranian. Linguist is NOT enabled Byelorussian: idiomatic, 4 points. Russian: completely fluent (3* points) Ukranian: completely fluent (3* points) HD is giving me the Ukranian for 2 points, as expected, but the Russian for 1 point. The 3 languages are Very Similar, so the 1 point reduction is expected...unless Russian and Byelorussian have become Overlapping...? That would do it...

This just started for me. I haven't tested all of them yet, but I know when I click on 'Hand Attack', 'Blast', or 'Drain' then select "Modifiers" to add advantages or limitations, nothing happens. I redownloaded the June 2020 version of HD my java version: D:\HERODesigner>java -version java version "1.8.0_261" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_261-b12) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.261-b12, mixed mode) any idea how to fix it?

I went to add some Movement Skill Levels and noticed that it wasn't in the skill tab. Is there a trick beyond using a Custom Skill?

I am stuck on how to do this in Hero Designer for 6e. I have read and re-read the documentation, done all sorts of searches in these forums and elsewhere. I think I'm close to the solution, but am not sure. I'm very new to Hero Designer and back to using Hero System after a 25 year hiatus. In the Bestiary, you can find lots of examples of critters with Tough Skin powers -- basically, the old Damage Resistance on some of their existing PD/ED. If the critter has 10 PD and 10 ED and they buy 6 resistant of each, it comes out as 6 points and the critter ends up 10/r6 with both PD and ED. So now I'm wanting to do something like that for a character in Hero Design…

Just wanted to make sure I was not missing anything... Is the Growth Power for the 6e template suppose to add the increase characteristics to the character sheet? It does for a 5e character. I just wanted to make sure there was not an issue with my HeroDesigner for 6e characters. I couldn't find any documentation on the changes for Growth. Sorry for any confusion on my part.

Under perks there is listed RESOURCE POINTS. Under define it states, "resource points rules are intended to create a distinct pool of points that characters can use to "buy" weapons, equipment, vehicles, bases, contacts and, other more or less "fungible" resources that can easily change (I.E. be lost, used up, or used temporarily) during the course of a campaign or adventure I have not been able to find out any more detailed information on this perk. Does anyone else know more?

Hello all, another question in this area. Is there a way to increase the memory available in HD?

Whatever happened to all the prefabs that used to be available for HD? Not just powers, there were skill prefabs and so much more... man, a lot changes when you're away more than a decade. LOL

Not sure what happened but the next time I tried to export and print, no color. Is there a setting in Chrome or Edge that could have changed. I switched exports as well, but cannot seem to find why no color comes out with my print. It isn't a printer issue as all other color comes out.

Curious about your reasoning. In the xml you have GROUP being general, where as in 6E1 79 Groups are Cultural KS. PEOPLE doesn't seem to be cultural (and is not so stated), especially if you can define a single person. The following is nothing but a personal opinion: <GROUPS DISPLAY="Cultural"> <TYPE>CULTURAL</TYPE> </GROUPS> <PEOPLE DISPLAY="People"> <TYPE>KNOWLEDGE</TYPE> </PEOPLE> <PLACES DISPLAY="Area"> <TYPE>AREA</TYPE> </PLACES> <CITIES DISPLAY="City"> <TYPE>AREA</TYPE> </CITIES> <THINGS DISPLAY"General"> <TYPE>KNOWLEDGE</TYPE>…

I noticed in the XML that the adder "All Or Nothing" has the ABBREVIATION="NND" on its line. However, when choosing that adder, NND does not appear in the output. When I look closer, the abbreviation "AVLD" isn't in the output either. Example: Choose Blast 1d6. Add AVLD modifier with All Or Nothing checked (I'm not changing the Defense Change or the Defense for the sake of the example). The output is Blast 1d6; Attack Versus Alternate Defense (ED; All Or Nothing; -1/2). That is technically correct, but the expected output should be Blast 1d6; AVLD (ED; NND; -1/2) because of the ABBREVIATION attributes. Preferred output should be Blast 1d6; NND (ED; -1/2…
