Sorry if this was asked / answered somewhere else, but I was unable to find it. I would like to add a 'second' powers tab (or the equipment tab) where it will show the cost of a power, but not add it into the cost of the character. I want to do this for a place to figure out power costs on powers that I want to add in the future for a character. I know there are several work arounds, but I'd like to be able to just cut and paste when ready to add to the character. Thanks in advance!

Greetings. I'm on a Windows 10 Home machine (64-bit). I went to java(dot)com and downloaded the most recent version of Java SE version 8. After installing it, I followed a tutorial to properly path it. When I attempted to run HERO Designer, I received a JNI error message. Are character packs for Hero Designer rule version specific, i.e. 5th vs 6th, etc? If so, how does one tell what would be compatible with 6th?

I downloaded Hero Designer to my new iMac as my old Mac died. Now that I have Java running smoothly, and I have the JDK installed, I can run Hero Designer fine. The problem is when I go to "Open Character" in the File menu in Hero Designer there is literally nothing on my Desktop. I click through to my Desktop and it's just a blank space, no files, no folders, nothing. Has anyone else run into this issue? What am I missing here?

I've finally gotten my sons into playing Champions and it has been a few years since I've run or played. 2017 my computer crashed and I found out that the Hero Designer CD I bought in 2003 wouldn't work anymore so I purchased a downloadable copy in 2017. The update options doesn't seem to work anymore. I'm assuming this is because it is over two years old. Are there any updates in the program since 2017 that would make it worth purchasing again? I don't mind doing it but only if it is worth.

This may have been answered somewhere in the forums, however I can't seem to find it. When I go to print a character I cannot get the export to have the proper page breaks. It has been many years since I have been able to play and I know it used to work. I have my old character sheets. Is there something I'm missing that must be done to get the export to break after the proper container? Thanks

Hi there, Dumb question... How do I use a character pack? I've just bought the Hero Designer software and the Pulp Hero character pack. But I can't see how I open the pulp characters files (HDP and HDC.) I've tried Open Character and Open Prefab etc. But nothing shows in the file browser. My folder is under my Downloads folder. But even the folder doesn't show. Any help? How do I import the new talents etc? Thanks Colin

Hi, Im new here and have been scouring the forums and not having any luck, I got hero designer 6 as a gift from a friend along with the 5th ed rules and Pulp books, how do I import all of the files into HD6 from my Pulp Pack ? I am trying to load the package deals and such but for some reason I cannot find them in the folder they are supposed to be in thanks an eager gameer

Trying to work out list export to JSON. I can identify the number of each item in the list with <!--IS_LIST_ITEM--><!--LISTPREFIX--><!--/IS_LIST_ITEM-->, and I can look backwards to the nearest <!--IS_LIST--><!--/IS_LIST--> to find WHICH list it is a part of for instances with multiple lists. Is there a way to determine whether the list is a framework or simply a list? Is there a way in code to distinguish between framework types (MP, VPP?)? Also, how do you distinguish between a fixed and variable slot (so that they can be displayed as such on the sheet)? - Ernie

Just a little bit of a starter for .hde/.hcr files. <!--TEMPLATE_NAME-->, <!--TEMPLATE_DESCRIPTION-->, and <!--FILE_EXTENSION--> are the minimum needed for the files, allowing HD to actually tell what it is. The <!--REPLACE--> box is for HTML, and should be replaced by whatever language you're coding it for. Images are controlled if it's in the file, not in the file, or just does it automatically rather one is there or not. Depending on how you want your sheet to look you may want to put a "Photo not currently available" pic in your export. I've purchased Hero Designer and find that it would fairly straight forward to create new export templates. If anyone want a Custom Export Template built for Hero Designer let me know. I would just need to have an example of what you are looking for as far as layout.

I think the RTF code is too large (12 Megabytes) and is causing the program to run out of space for processing. Here's the exception being thrown. Obviously, including every HERO supplement optional rule is not going to be possible, but HERO Martial Arts offers the option of 6-point and 7-point Maneuvers, so I thought I would ask. Is there any way in HeroDesigner to allow 6-point or 7-point Maneuvers? Or is the 5-point limit hard-coded in an inaccessible way?
