Medieval Wages 1 2

Based on early-late medieval wages list for England http://www.curufea.com/games/western/5e/wages.php The original list is here- http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/source/medievalprices.html I modified the wages according to inflation (by a comparison to Thatcher wages) and broke them down into day/week/month/year if they weren't already. Low wages I presume are best represented by employees of merchants, and high wages by noble employees. And for those that don't know Imperial - 12 Pennies (d) = 1 Shilling (s) 20 Shillings = 1 Pound (L) I changed "Welsh" to "Militia" and seperated "Baron" and "Earl" into a further "Baronet" and "Duke". A Vi…

Greetings All, I am ramping up my first FH:TA game as GM and I ran across something in the book that I was wondering if anyone had some answers about. One of my players is playing a rogue varriation from TA called "The Assassin Priests of Shadow Hall" which I allow because I like a little inter party strife, but I digress. Anyways these Assasin/Priests worship a deity they call the "Dark Lady" her real name being Engrais (I belive I don't have the book infront of me) either way I cannot find a discription of her outside of the assassin description what basicly only says she is the Goddess of Assassins. Am I missing something or is this the only description …

I have been looking through a number of other posts that have answered part of this so I apologize for some duplication here... Anyway, I am looking for a way to setup a "Animate Statue" effect for a spell. Basically, I built it as a Summon but only want the statue to be active for a specific amount of time. As I understand it, as Summon is an instant effect, a continuing charge does,'t really apply. What suggestions are out there for making this work out? I am thinking of having it set so that the statue is animated for like 5 minutes or something (long enough to usable in a combat or to break down a door or whatever). A couple of ideas I have are as follows:…

Hello All, Just reading through the threads to get caught back up (or at least seem like I have) and a question came to the forebrain that's been rolling around in my head for some time. In a Heroic game (let's say Fantasy) weapons and equipment are paid for with money. This being the non-spellcasters bread and butter they get to pump points into skills. So they "effectively" get their full points AND "free" weapons (free as far as character points are concerned). Now, this is not true for the spell casters, who generally end up with low-level and/or few skills and have to "pay" for their gear (again referring to character points). Now, I got into th…

Ok, I'm trying to setup a campaign where one of the races available (called spirits at this point) are actual offspring of gods. Incredibly nerfed to fit within the campaign world and PC power levels, of course. The main thing is this: I want the spirits to be able to be worshipped by people (PC's and NPC's) in the game. This worshipping will very very very slowly transform the spirit into a god and will allow the spirit to heal/recover/etc at a more normal rate (their normal rec is 1). In addition, the worshipper gains an END Battery to power their spells. How would I write this up? At this point the concept in my head is still a bit rough and I pl…

I'll Start off showing the build I have so far, then Say what I'm going for. Oh, btw, this magic system is based on a character performing complicated matematical equations on a sheet of paper. It's a "realistic Level" magic style, so it's supposed to be dangerous, unpredictable, and can't give proof of it's own existence. Summon the Demon Within: Multiform to 172 point Combat Monster, Invisible to Normal Sight and Hearing +¾ (60 active); Costs END to Initiate −½, Requires a “Higher Mathematics†Roll –½, Feedback −1, Side Effect (Automatically Acquires “Berserk While in Combat†go 14- recover 8- while in form, only 1 Minute if Skill Roll Fails) −½, P…

If a Valdorian Age sorcerer wanted to make himself biologically younger, how could (s)he achieve this? Is there a supernatural being that can offer something like this, and what kind of it should it be- Elemental, Demon, Divine Servant, Ghost? Are there possibly even several paths of sorcery which could achieve such a goal?

Now, I've not played with a lot of magic in the past. My Fantasy Hero world has been based on Renaissance to Regency Europe and has never had a bunch of magic in it. It's worked out very well but I've wanted to go back to a more traditional Fantasy setting... so I've been working on a magic system... and I figured that since this was a place to workshop ideas I'd share it with my fellow Hero fanatics. I've always had a problem with the D&D "When you cast a spell it disappears from your head" syndrome. Just seemed really lame to me. I know it's a way to keep mages in check but it's freakin' weak-sauce, let's face it. What I do like was that wizards really have to …

Am I going abso-frickin-lutely insane, or is there a Limitation officially published somewhere to the effect that a power limited thusly can't be used except [once a month/once a season/once a year/once in a blue moon] when conditions are just so? I just went through 5ER (paying special attention to the Limited Power Limitation) and Fantasy Hero's Magic chapter looking for this thing (which I'm sure I've seen before), but I can't find it. HELP ME!

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has a questionaire that they present to new players? Something that outlines the background/history/personality/abilities of the character they want to play.

Yay post 996, only four to go. Back in the nineties I came up with this race for a world that would exclude the standard fantasy races. Yes I know with their ears they somewhat resembles elves, but I hope they are enough different not to be too close. Also I was reading Mercedes Lackey (and other fantasy authors of her ilk) at about the same time and aspect of the race might be influenced by that. I apologize for the length in advance. Jandas This is the name of the cat-like race of the high plains. They have pointy ears with very short fur on the outside of the lobe and slit eyes (with green and amber being dominant). They have longer canines t…

Anyone have an electronic format of the Item list in 5th Ed FH? I was wanting to play with it for my game, using it as a starting point, and create my own list. It would be great if I did not have to re-type the whole thing. Thanks

We've just added two documents to the Fantasy Hero section of the "Free Stuff" page that were provided to us by Daniel Calhoun. They're play aids he prepared for his campaign: a handout listing the gods; and a handout showing the Westerlands calendar. So, enjoy. Thanx, Daniel!!!

I am creating a new magic system for my fantasy campaign. Please give me some feed back. In the world I have created, magic is performed in one of two ways; Alchemy or sorcery. Alchemy is the creation of magical effects through distilling the essences of various substances. Alchemy is used to create magic elixirs or to invest physical objects with supernatural qualities. The effects that can be achieved through alchemy are useful, however handling the volatile mixtures used in alchemical formulae is risky. The mechanics of alchemy are fairly simple. All powers take the "extra time" disadvantage with a minimum activation time of 5-minutes; however the delayed eff…

I finally redid my website (although I am not all that happy with the way it came out - it looked differently when building it in Rapidweaver). I put up some zip and hdp files that have some D&D & Forgotten Realms conversions, racial templates and prefabs, some spells, and some other stuff. The site is: Badger's Den. EDIT: I moved my RPG files to another site. You can link it from there, but the direct link is here. Feel free to use and abuse. Any questions on how or why I did something can be sent to me however I will get it. While hardly complete, I think the races and realms regions are fairly complete, and the bloodline abilities from Unearthed Arcana a…

While waiting for a plumber to show up, I've been playing around with some more conversions. This is one, the "Curse of the Burning Hand" from AEGs Magic of Rokugan book. Basically the spell curses a target with a flaming aura. The target gains resistance to flames, and has a fiery aura that has two effects - it casts light and burns anything the target touches or touches the target. There were two ways I thought of doing this. One was by a transform, but I am not sure how to count this "power", as the effects can be beneficial but also harmful (esp since the individual cannot eat without burning the food - to ash most likely) - what counts as a disadvantage for purp…
