While potentially this should also go into the Champions forum as well, I get a more pulp-ish vibe from it so I'm posting it here.....Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGmvyWxRlbQ And, speaking of pulp-ish....here's a rather pulp style poster for the film too: -Carl-

Frau Im Mond (Woman in the Moon) is a 1929 silent film by Fritz Lang. Some of the science is inaccurate, and some scenes have been cut in this version. But it's still an entertaining flick. Part 1 Part 2

Las Pozas – Surreal Eden of the Jungle This is actually a relatively modern creation, built between 1949 and 1984 by Edward James, but it's eerily beautiful and mysterious.

Not sure if anyone recalls the supplement in question (the Firebird Press original version of Golden Age Of Champions) but I am hoping that someone might and might also be able to recall both the secret ID name and the hero moniker for the character that was a watchmaker and fan of ornithology who built himself a winged armored suit.....I can pretty well recall many of the pertinent powers/abilities/etc (Gliding, Armor, etc) but some of the backstory is more.....foggy. And as my copy is currently 4,000 miles away and somewhat buried in storage.....Shrug. Thanks. -Carl-

Way back when, when the pulps were 'live,' the Works Progress Administration came up with all sorts of projects to help get people working - in this case, it was writing city guides to places around the country that told you (in the language of the day) where to go, where not to go, what to do, and what not to do (and a lot more) in locations ranging from New Orleans to New York, to San Francisco. Here's a link to a collection of free PDF versions of some of those city (and, in some cases, state) guides. Hope they'll help you guys out as much as they've helped me! http://www.digitalbookindex.org/_SEARCH/search010histus20fedwriproja.asp

The Good, The Bad, The Weird The Good, The Bad, and The Weird (a.k.a. Joheunnom nabbeunnom isanghannom) is a Korean film, described by the director as a “kimchee” Western. Much like the spaghetti Westerns from which it draws a lot of influence, TGTBTW is a pure action film, with only the most basic of plots to hold things together (not that it really needs any thing complex.) Taking place in 1930s Manchuria, it features Woo-sung Jung (who played Yeo-sol the spearman in Musa) as Park Do-woon, a bounty hunter (the “Good”), Byung-hun Lee (who played Storm Shadow in the recent GI Joe movie) as Park Chang-yi, a vicious killer (the “Bad”), and Kang-ho Song (who …

I ordered this recently and have only skimmed it. However, that said, the number of crazy WWII inventions and/or ideas listed are amazing. 1000 to 1500-ton armored land "kruisers," an aircraft carrier made out of ice and sawdust, jet aircraft, a super-sonic bomber, personal helicopters, space stations... all you need to do is remove the word "Nazi" and replace it with mad scientist/criminal mastermind/world conqueror and you're all set.

Some martial arts, such as Jun Fan Gung Fu (Jeet Kun Do) and Bak Mai (White Eyebrows) Kung Fu are known for, among other things, an Intercepting Fist maneuver. How would you build this? Trigger or Damage Shield build costs run high, whereas 3 points for 2 Penalty Skill levels vs. Cover Maneuver may be low, given that the 4E Ninja Hero cost for Block/Strike, outlawed by UMA, is 3 points, -4 OCV, +0 DCV. What would your take be for a 150 pt. character?

There is a "400" club in pro football, for the elite who can bench press that many pounds. Of course STR 15 is 110% of that. Most real life martial artists can't bench press 400 pounds, let alone 440. I don't consider martial arts being cited in your Background as sufficient to explain world class strength per se, though an internal style is a good start... It would be funny to have a Power Build like this- +15 STR only vs. those with inadequate written explanation of their world class (15+) STR. What would that Limitation be worth in your Hero System game?

So he's dead, right? That should make it ok to mock him. So why didnt we take him alive? Here are some possible reasons: 1 Osama was a bad-ass fighting machine with horns, fangs, and a pact with the devil that gave him 1000 lives. Luckily, the Seals brought 1001 bullets. (whew!) 2 He was about to launch the Osamatron! No time to be delicate here! 3 Osama was marrying the daughter of one of the Seals without asking daddy's permission! (Big no-no!) 4 Kill Turu! Kill! Oh wait. That's Jonny Quest. Still it would have been fun to feed him to a pterasaur. 5 The ghosts of a 1000 victims visted the team leader and said ' You wouldn't let us down, would yo…

Adventure / Character Seed Shortly after he died, [Genghis] Khan’s surviving commanders ordered a group of 50 particularly battle-hardened families, collectively known as the Uryangqai of the Woods, to occupy this land [part of northern Mongolia’s Hentiy Province, an area known as the Ikh Khorig, which translates literally as the “great taboo” but is referred to by outsiders as the “Forbidden Zone”], kill any trespassers, making exceptions only for the funeral processions of the Khan’s direct descendants, who were allowed to be buried there. Unsurprisingly, this fierce degree of secrecy has led many to surmise that the body of Genghis Khan himself resides somewhere i…

As you step into the dark shop the first thing you notice is how the incense doesn’t quite cover the other more sinister smells. Almost in unison with your entry a pale gangly oriental walks though a beaded curtain. Bowing low he says. "Welcome evil one. No do not try to deny it. For you stand in the shop of the insidious Dr. Lo. That is all the proof of the blackness in your soul that is required. For in my shop though you will find many potions, lotions and notions, what you will not find is decency, compassion, or kindness. Now honored guest as this is your first visit, I must ask what darkness grips your heart? Do you covet a woman, whish to kill your enemies, does …
