What mixed-genre premises would you find disturbing? Here's an example: "Mel Brooks and Akira Kurosawa collaborating on one movie." (Mixing Ninja Hero with extreme doses of comedy) Let's see what ideas you can come up with? Edit: This was just something that came to me totally at random.

That way, all match-ups in week 1 of playoffs are new, no repeats.

Let's get this show on the road! Here are the round themes and points again for reference. BONUS POINTS Drafting characters will earn you bonus points depending upon whom you select. Each round will have a theme with special bonus point criteria. Here are the universal criteria and their values. They are cumulative. 3 bonus points if the pick is selected within 24 hours 3 bonus point if character is a non-speaking animal 3 bonus points if the character has never died* 1 bonus point if the character chosen is female 1 bonus point if the character chosen is non-white (does not apply to non-humans) *Death, in this case, means for a year or more of published comics. …

This thread is a "spinoff" from the "Heightened Libido" thread. Essentially, it's intended to be an unofficial, unendorsed thread for any ideas or thoughts related to erotic/romantic/sexual submatters in Hero System RPG campaigns. Lucius suggested calling it "Ultimate Erotic Hero", though I'm partial to Ero System Sexth Edition (ESSE or "Essay") for short. A few disclaimers and caveats/guidelines to begin: 1. Hero Games, and the management and moderators of this board, in no way support or endorse any ideas contained in this thread. 2. Some of the material in this thread, while handled(hopefully) as discreetly and tastefully as possible, may still be considered …

We're still several weeks away from starting a new season, but I wanted to start a new discussion thread since the old one was getting huge and unwieldy. I also wanted to let you guys know that I am thinking about it and the Arena is undergoing reconstruction. There are going to be some big changes. We may lose a few of you as a result. I hope that we don't, but some things really need to change in the structure. For my sanity and yours as well, I hope. In the meantime, be good and don't hurt any orange supercats.

ONLY HUMAN... Is not good enough. Want to be stronger? Faster? Smarter? You can, provided you are willing to pay the price... your humanity. Cybernetics allow you to punch harder, shoot straighter, run faster, and even think better. And if that’s not enough, you can become a full-conversion cyborg, sacrificing mere meat for cutting-edge machine. You might opt for a genetic upgrade, a reworking of your DNA with the intent of “fixing” all of nature’s mistakes. Or you might be a replicated human, vat-grown and computer-designed for a specific purpose. Still not satisfied? You can take on the role of an esper, a living weapon with powerful psychokineti…

It's time for another Hero System Good Idea/Bad Idea... Good Idea: Pirate Hero Bad Idea: Samoli Pirate Hero

Has anyone done any Rifts conversions to the HERO system? I love the background (though I admit it is cheesy), but damn if I don't pretty much hate the rules. Most of all, I hate the fact that it takes me about the same amount of time to create a Palladium character as it does a HERO character, but all of the Palladium characters of a particular class seem to be exactly the same. Anyway, thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

It's pretty much official. I will be borrowing heavily from this data on Mike's site to run an Urban Fantasy / Sci-Fi / Horror game. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hey folx! Now that people are playing the game, I figured it would be useful for those of us who frequent the Hero boards to list our heroes here, so perhaps we might recognize one another in-game. I've created and played the following so far (levels as of 10/07/2009): Harbinger (40) Culverin (17) Unsheathed (11) Ultratech (8) Yellowjacket (6) Doctor Arcane (1) Steel Scarab (1) Once I figure out how to create a superteam, I'll see about creating one for Hero boards members.

What it says on the tin. What kinds of things would you like to see addressed? Specifically: What kind of rules? (Hero System vehicle rules, updated and rewritten Robot Warriors rules, new rules) What kinds of campaigns? (Realistic military, superpowered Champions-style robot heroes, others) What scope would you like to see it cover? (Full genre book, mini-genre a la Post-Apocalyptic Hero, all-in-one a la Lucha Hero) Something I haven't mentioned.

Alright... I managed to get near a project, and since it involves a convention that means I may get sucked into said project. I need any and all source material you consider "Steampunk" -Books -Comics -Movies (including Anime) -Music (no, really, whatever you listen to to get 'into the Steampunk mood') -RPGs -Television -Video Games -Any other medium I forgot I have a really long list already (actually, I have a really long literary list since that's usually my main focus and a moderate Other Media list), and I have a slightly narrowed definition of what I consider Steampunk and the purpose here is to get the whole range on the topic (as some …

Before we can have a Tournament, we must have competitors. This thread is where we determine who they will be. Before discussing details, let me just get this out of the way: PLEASE NOMINATE HEROES. We’ll get a fair number of 90s-style dark & gritty anti-heroes along the way--especially in the Street Level tournament--and that’s just fine. Healthy, even. But the focus here is on heroes. So please don’t nominate villains. One day, we may have a Tournament of Villains--but today is not that day. Okay, a few simple guidelines for nominating characters: Each Forum member may nominate up to three characters per day. No more than three characters per day, please…

The manuscript for Western Hero is at Hero HQ and being worked over, with a new cover being created for it. I don't know any realistic release date but I hope it will be out by Christmas. This is to be an official Hero Games product, not a Hall of Champions fan bit or self pub job like my other work. I have a few release ideas set up for it, when it hits the shelves including an adventure module. As I get more news and information I'll pass it along here. So stay tuned, pardner.

Hiya Gang, I was over at another forum and they have a thread that statted out various characters from movies and TV. That's when I thought, "Gee, why don't we do that over at the Hero boards?" Thus this thread The rules are simple. Anyone can post a character, so long as it's from a movie or TV Series (Cartoons & Anime included). If you have HeroDesigner, please use the Code Export and also post the HDC file in your post. If you can, also include a photo using Tags. As an added challenge ... please try and post something that's not at Mike Surbrook's site. That way, if Mike wants, he can post characters appearing here there I'll start with t…

I've just started watching Full Metal Alchemist recently and I really feel the world system behind the anime would make a very interesting roleplaying game. The anime world seems to be a sort of steampunk system. Alchemists are a popular phenomina in the world. Alchemy is sort of a spell system but has very strict rules to it. 1) You must work with an equal amount of material. 2) You cannot transmute gold. 3) You cannot transmute humans. As I have been looking for a game to put together for starting a new tabletop game, I'm thinking that this might be a good system to go with. Alice liked the concept so I'm probably going to do more work on it. …

I thought we might do something new for 2017: a Tournament of Heroes. The essence of the idea is this: We select a number of heroes, seed them in a bracket à la March Madness, and have them face off (via polls) until a winner is crowned. I thought this could be a fun activity to participate in without an undue time burden for anyone (with the possible exception of myself). The tournament would be executed in three phases, as outlined below: Phase I: Nominations I’ll open it up to all of you to nominate heroes you feel would be worthy to compete in such an event. The nomination process could begin as early as later this week, and I’d accept nominations for two to…

The forums at the Champions Online website have become top-heavy recently with complaints, criticisms, and general expressions of dissatisfaction; and the recent announcement of the Vibora Bay expansion having to be paid for seems to have brought all that to a frothing head. Of course, that's the nature of most online communities. Since folks here on the Hero Games forums probably have less of an emotional investment in the MMO, and mostly come to it from the background of PnP Champions gamers, I have hopes that discussing the subject here might be more balanced and constructive. (I apologise if that sounds naive.) So, what has your experience of Champions Online b…

This is one of those cross-genre match up questions. In discussion, we cannot seen to settle this one, so I am asking for the considered opinions of others who ponder such things. We have the Hulk write-up from Game Trade Magazine, and the Vader write up from Surebrooks page of Champions write ups. But have not fought the battle yet. The debate is mostly between a Non-gaming Hulk fan and a new gamer Star Wars fan. I am the vetern gamer moderator. The consesion is that Hulk is stronger, tougher etc. Vader, on the other hand has Force powers and a slashy light-thing. The real sticky point is the argument on one hand that the Dark Side has more power over those…

I have been playing Champions since the 80s, I still run a campaign once a month. I wanted to voice my disappointment in Cryptic's supposed rendition of the Champions RPG. I think they failed miserably, the graphics look like poor Silver Age comics and the game system is not truly customizable (which is where Champions the RPG succeeded. HERO had a great product for a great opportunity in the MMO world. And Cryptic destroyed its potential. I am starting to believe Cryptic needed to slap a title on top of their game when Marvel quit them and came to HERO to save the day. I don't know if the developers did not understand the game system or just did not car…
