So Season III has wrapped up with Lady Pariah as the victor and Psybolt as the runner up. Congrats to both and an extra congrats to last season's second place finisher who managed to take it this season. But that now leaves us with some time to discuss what we thought of this season and desires for next season. In general I did miss some of the back and forth of a week long 1 on 1 but I do think the fact that things are different day by day is nice. Plus this does mean that the weekly win rate is less important and each individual day becomes more important. Likewise, I liked to some level the variety in the matches but I thought that with some limitations we found ou…

... again. There are several older threads on it, but relatively few writeups of the Guyver units themselves (the Zoanoids are easier), and a couple I saw didn't do it for me. So, if you know the manga well (or the most recent anime series), will you help me build a Guyver character? I've been trying, but I'm not very good at building stuff yet. I can provide an extensively detailed list of capabilities. For those who don't know it, the basic idea is a biological suit of armor that transforms the wearer into a being of godlike power. I'd like to use HERO to do a Guyver-based game sometime, but it's trickier than I thought to get this right.

Hi all. I’m prepping to begin a game featuring SCP critters. Has anyone done this and have any of templates I can get started with? BTW, if Brennell and any of the TTS users check this out, you’ve sold me on it and I’m trying to educate myself. I love it and hope to gain some competency in using the system. With this COVID world were in, I’m getting back into this and even after not playing in 25+ years, I love this system and what one can do with it. Keep up the work, folks! There’s others like me coming around.

I have no idea where to put this, and "other genres" seems appropriate. No; I'm not looking to tear it apart or ask questions about it. I just wanted to say that I spent this afternoon reading it. Yeah; I'm probably the last guy to buy it (that's just the way it tends to go for me ), but I read it today-- the PDF, anyway. I intend to read it again when the printed book shows up. First: it took me far to long to make the connection between the Bill Keyes listed on the cover and our own Bill Keyes. That was humorously embarrassing. Second: I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was well-written, with an easy, comfortable writing style th…

I'm not certain that anyone would WANT to simulate sports with the hero system but I do believe it very possible and have put thought into it. The core of Sport Hero is a form of Missile Deflection that is usable by everyman that only affects a 'ball'. This is a GM call as to what is a ball. Some grenades could be a ball and some sport plays could be considered combat in game terms. The best example is catching a baseball. The pitcher throws at his ocv and the catcher attempts to catch it with missile deflection. Then we can add the batter. He uses the bat to Reflect the ball. The real trick is for the system to determine where the ball lands. I've worked i…

This is sort of a continuation to my wargaming Hero hack, where players trek along a hexcrawling map, with tactical combat taking place on hex sheets with dungeons/battlegrounds drawn on them. Nothing new under the sun, but having miniatures made me come up with all sorts of uses for them. Characters are made with Body becoming Hits (if converting), and weapon damages are transformed into damage points, where each die becomes equal to one Hit. Abilities like deadly blow will be gated behind character points and progression, or not allowed in the game at all, depending on genre and the thematic effect the game is going for. Magic and magic items can be more dea…

One question...has anyone atempted to do a write up of the villian of the old 60's splater film The Wizard Of Gore? I myself would love to know exactly what you think of his powers, and the best way to write them up. His powers: 1) The ability to kill a person, then revive them so that thay have no memorie of the attack. Then, the victom falls apart again an hour later. 2) The ability to mass-hyponise his audeance, so all thay see is a series of bloodless magic tricks. This dose not appear to work aganst camras (but it does affect the camraman who are taking the images at the time). 3) The ability to cut his own head off without ill effect, then reatach i…

I was wondering which book would give me more of the material I would likely use for a hero system Exalted game, fantasy hero complete or champions complete? I'd really prefer to only have to get one or would it really matter? Just looking for any advice on which would be better for the project. Thanks

I know the lack of covers makes this problematic, but it there any way to set up Robot Warriors for a Print-on-Demand run? I'm juggling some projects and would like to do a few mecha for the Hall of Champions and would like a reference copy. I do own the PDF now, in case that is an issue, but I don't believe RW is licensed for copy-for-individual-use. At the same time, I want to thank Chris Goodwin for opening the Conversion Guide.

Hello! I am a long-time Shadowrun fan (since '92, more or less), and most editions of the system are ... impractical. Or atrocious, at times. Sub-systems don't work together, there's little cohesive design philosophy, and it's a mess to find stuff in the books, by and large. [Honorable exception to the 20th anniversary edition to 4e.] Now, I have become aware of a HERO 5th edition conversion that was made a decade ago or so, and that used to be posted on the Star Hero Fandom site, but the files there are mostly unreadable by the Wayback Machine, it seems. Would anyone have the one-file PDF (of circa 150 pages) version kicking around? The links to contact the author …

I'm currently working on a Lucha Libre HERO character called "El Hombre Peludo" (which hopefully means "The Hairy Man"). In many ways he's a typical crimefighting luchador, but underneath the mask he's actually an orangutan; and nobody ever notices, because of the mask. EL Hombre Peludo is of human intelligence and can talk. Without the mask he looks like an ordinary orangutan, but when he's wearing it everyone treats him as they would any other luchador. I'm working on a Standard Luchador build (so, 5th edition rules, 200 + 50 character points) and taking the Bestiary entries for Gorilla and Chimpanzee, along with the 5th edition build for Dr. Silverback, as …

I'm probably running a one-shot for my returning non-gamers. I'll steal the beginning of the Walking Dead video game and make it the starting point of something. Police escort etc. Some banter and other stuff possibly before the apocalypse starts for the player characters. I have a system in place, but I might still use ATZ if prep time becomes an issue. Any good ideas for a minis scenario that starts in the woods with a crashed police car and zombified policeman trying to eat the PCs? Some stuff I thought about was getting out of the woods at first. Like having to sneak around not wanting to attract the zombie attention too much. Stealth rolls …

As hero gamers we have all tried to convert stuff from other systems into Hero games to "see who is the strongest". And as such I think this is an interesting video comparing Slanessh to Loth. It is not as much of a walkover as you might think at first glance.

I have put Terra Prime on sale for Black Friday (ok, a little early). It is currently 40% off and the sale will end on December 6th, 2019. Please use the following link to get the discounted price: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?discount=9a8b9baf62 For those of you unfamiliar with the setting here's some background... --------------------------------------------- The world of Terra Prime is one of conflict and contrast. A world that has been forever and irreversibly changed by a mystical calamity that the Nazi regime caused during the second World War which fused together different realities. It is our modern day w…

I've been working on a setting document with the same name as the title of this post for a couple of weeks now and I think the document is in a good enough place to open it up to general feedback. It's still a work in progress and not perfect but it's good enough to convey the settings basics, I hope. I'm posting now to try and gather feedback from the general public of these boards to see what needs more explaining and what needs to be cut. The Blooded are a group of immortals who have a connection to a mythic power that is hereditary. There are 7 Bloodlines that each represent a different mythic theme such as Draconic or Fae. The connection to the mythic…

Asking for a bit of help. Could someone check out my collection of conversion files for World War 2 combat, and notes which I've made, for any mechanical errors or something else that might come up that conflicts with the base core rules of Hero? This would be my entry to the Hall of Champions, but I'm working on the rules and writing at the moment. I will send you the zip file if you are interested in checking out my notes.

Finally got around to designing my own system using the HERO skill and combat resolution system. I'd like some feedback regarding the possible complications I might run into trying to hack this system into something that can be used with minis on a battle mat. My design priorities were as such: 1. Simplified combat and mass combat rules (haven't read fantasy HERO): Squad hit points (men x BODY), that allow for easy calculation of casualties when using single based minis, and keeps track of things when the minis are based otherwise. Squad damage, a single damage roll that determines the firepower output of the squad that turn. Again: damage roll x num…

Per the title; is there anyone interested in collaborating with me on a little side project? It's a setting that I'm working on for an Urban Fantasy game and I could use help with writing and art. The elevator pitch is this: the players are immortals, called Blooded, who have a connection to a mythic force that comes from their otherworldly blood. There are nine different Bloodlines that all have a different mystical focus such as Fae or Draconic power. The Bloodlines organize themselves in a medieval hierarchy with Kings and Queens, Dukes, Knights, and peasants. There's lots of opportunity for political intrigue and conflict as well as conflict from outsid…
