Anyone seen or made any conversion work for the KULT RPG . . . ? It´s one of my brother´s favorite settings, and since I might move back up north sometime in the future and start gaming with the old crew . . . Well, it´d be fun!

Has anyone done a 5e updated writeup for the heroine of Urusei Yatsura, Lum the Invader? aka "The poster Child for What happens when you Fall in Love with the Wrong Man"? I personally found Lum adorable. Of course, I can see why alvoer who uncotnrollably emitted electric shocks when angry, enthusastic or otherwise emtional would intimdiate Ataru. But still, I sometimes think Moroboshi is blind as a bat to other people's emotions.

Has anyone thought of running a campaign based on the TV Series, _Lost_? (I must confess I've always been really fascinated by the use of cinematic devices such as flashbacks in RPGs).

I'm working on a pseudo Earth setting set somewhere within this timeframe (not sure when precisely). It's basically a East meets west storyline not dissimilar to the Last Samurai. I want to show a clash of cultures but the trick here is that the setting is only loosely earth-like. In other words you'll be able to think, "aha, I think this is his 'mythical India', and this must be his 'mythical Japan'". I guess the closest game would be something like the world of Rokugan and the Legend of the 5 rings. While the geography will change and the names of the countries will change, it has to have some recognizable metaphoric anchors to our own world. I definitely want …

I'm thinking about setting my next adventure in Egypt in early 1938. Research is not my forte, and my goal is only to be historically accurate in broad outline, so I thought I'd just pick your brains and see if anybody knows and is willing to share anything useful. I imagine there are a modest number of British troops supplemented by local, mainly arab, troops with British officers. I want the game to take place in a region where an ancient Egyptian tomb could plausibly be found, but preferably not too close to a major population center. I'm thinking maybe there's a town on the Nile with a modest British presence (a platoon of British-officered local troops, a gun…

I thought I'd start a thread for the creation and discussion of HERO versions of our favorite TV characters. Characters can be built on any number of points, but I suggest 150-350 points. Lately, I've been having fun trying to translate insane video game items and abilities into Hero System. Has anyone else been doing stuff like this? Here's my attempt to Herofy the powerups from the original Super Mario Brothers. Super Mushroom: Super Mushroom: Growth (+20 STR, +4 BODY, +4 STUN, -4" KB, x4 weight, -2 DCV, +2 to PER Rolls, x2 width and height, +1" reach), (AP 20); IAF (destroyed by damage to anywhere on body, -1/2), (RC 13). The Super Mushroom makes you double in size. You activate it by eating it or absorbing it or whatever happens when powerups are collected in video games, and you lose it when you get hit. Specifically, when you take e…

Well, I just got back from the theater. Decent movie overall. It drips with noir visuals and pulp sci-fi tech. And now, you have one week to show me your writeups for all the nifty vehicles and robots, or I will destroy the planet.

I know that there have been plenty of write ups for both Vampires & Werewolves, but I would like some input from Herodom for write ups for both of these in a Heroic (Dark Champions) style game (my GateCrashers if anyone's read that thread) My Idea was to limit them in their firearms usage, and set the War in Underworld to aprox the late 1800s kinda a Victorian/Gas light setting. This would give the PCs the advantage in firepower, but the Supernaturals the advantage once the ammo ran out. Any help would be greatly appreciated WC

A long time ago, as sort of comic relief for my gaming group, I once dumped them into the world of WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT? At one point they were infiltrating the mastermind's secret hide-out (Wile E. Coyote) and suffered through the dire traps. There were dropping anvils (transform: character into same character only compressed accordion-fashion to one quarter height, powered armor characters transformed into a large tin can labeled "Canned Superhero"), sticks of dynamite (4d6 stun only + cosmetic transform: covered with black soot and all hair pointing away from blast point), flame throwers (4d6 stun + transform into a man-sized burnt match that crumbles into powd…

I ran a GURPS CthulhuPunk last year and it was pretty good. Now I'm thinking about doing something similar with HERO System but using a more generic type horror setting rather than the Cthulhu Mythos. The background would be along the lines of a near (but not too near) future setting (maybe 2066), in which traditional horror monsters like vampires, werewolves etc. exist, but many years (maybe decades or centuries) ago formed themselves into one or more secret societies and infiltrated many areas of government and corporate culture. A secrect society (or maybe more than one) dedicated to fighting the monsters also exists, and as the war escalated they began to gain the upp…

Comments invited on the following write-up of Tintin. Note: this is intended to represent Tintin in the 1930s stories, before he's met Captain Haddock and Professor Calculus.I've deliberately broken the rules in one area: dependent NPCs. Snowy's definitely a 25pt disad, and the general level of grief Thompson and Thomson give Tintin during the 1930s stories seems about right at 15pts.I had contemplated developing a martial art (Fisticuffs) for Tintin, but decided to go for three 5pt CSLs instead.TintinPlayer: Val** Char*** Cost 9** STR -1 16** DEX 18 11** CON 2 14** BODY 8 14** INT 4 18** EGO 16 14** PRE 4 10** COM 0 * 2** PD 0 2** ED 0 3** SPD 4 6** REC 4 32** END 5 …

Those who read this post will die in seven days, unless they make a copy of it and post it elsewhere for others to see (Just joking). This is a treatment of the curse video from the movie Ringu. While other powers can be added (such as transformation i.e. normal person into YAMAMURA Sadako) they are from the books and I am only dealing with the first movie. I have set up the video as basically a trap so sit back and enjoy the cursed video…. Static Sadako’s Video 127 pts. When Pulp Hero is released, will it get its own board like Dark Champions?? While Ninja Hero didn't get its own board, it also doesn't look like its as supported as Pulp Hero is going to be, with multiple books in the line.

Greetings, Recently I spoke to Steve Long about revising and expanding the KAZEI 5 campaign book with the idea of presenting it to DOJ sometime in the future as a possible 5th Edition book (this will have to occur after CYBER HERO is released, of course). That said, I have begun to revise many elements of the original setting. Oddly enough, I am concentrating right now on the NPCs, coverting them over to 5th Edition format and rethinking many of their powers and the like. I am also working on a document akin to a "writer's bible," detailing the look and feel of the setting as I see it. What I am interested from all of you is input on the setting. Such as: What…

I don't really have the time to write Tintin up as a charcter at the moment, but I'm have a few thoughts, and I'm keen to solicit further suggestions before I have a serious stab at it next week. First off, Tintin's obviously heroic, rather than superheroic. Usual rules apply. Characteristics STR - not particularly good. Tintin's very skinny. However, he packs a mean punch - some kind of pulp martial art, perhaps (fisticuffs?). DEX - pretty good. He seems to be naturally agile. CON - average. He usually succumbs to chloroform. BODY & STUN - high. He's sometimes knocked out if someone really gets the dtrop on him with a cosh to the skull, …

I've been toying off and on with the idea of converting Car Wars vehicles and equipment over to Hero. This job was made much easier when The Ultimate Vehicle came out, but I didn't get around to making any sort of conversion until now. Some design notes: I wasn't particularly interested in recreating the exact mechanics of Car Wars. I wanted vehicles with a similar feel, but with Hero mechanics. I didn't want to convert the CW vehicle design system, just the vehicles. To design new vehicles or figure out the effects of refitting existing vehicles, use the CW system, and then convert the result to Hero. Armor the big way I diverged from CW. All plas…

My sig other and I, in between redecorating our lounge, have been avidly watching the Tintin animated movies, having acquired a boxed set of all of them on DVD on Saturday morning. It struck me just how appropriate the Boy Reporter is as inspiration for a Pulp Hero campaign - he may not be Doc Savage, but he did make it to the Moon. For those unfamiliar with Tintin (are there any?), he began life in a cartoon strip in a Belgian newspaper in 1929 (yes, this year's his 75th anniversary), and continued throughout the 1930s and early 1940s, when his adventures were collated into book format. Writer and artist Herge continued to produce Tintin stories in book fo…

Wow. Okay, I'll be brief: In White Wolf's tremendously cool Adventure! pulp RPG, PCs have "Inspiration Points" which allow them to mess with the setting and plot ("Oh, no, I DO have a derringer in my purse -- even at the opera!") and such. They also allow for increased success in tasks (spend an I-point, double your dice pool!). How, then, to model I-points in HERO? The idea being that I can use the "Dramatic Editing" mechanic untouched from A! (points spent alter 'reality'), but also provide an increased success, a decreased amount of damage taken (maybe temporary rPD?), and other crazy stuff like that. Or do I even need to bother, and just gi…
