Charges of End reserve
From the FAQ, it seems that it is legal to take charges on an end reserve. Isn't this extremely unbalancing? For example, take a 2D6 autofire attack (45 active pts) that normally costs 20 end per 5 shot burst. You can buy a 20 end reserve with an active cost of 2, and put 1000 or more charges on it for a +1 advantage and a net real cost of 4 pts. It's even worse for any regular powers that cost 10 end or less per use since the active cost would be 1 pt and the real cost would be 2 pts. It's essentially an almost free 0 end advantage on all your powers that cost end. This would be a problem for regular end with charges, although not quite as much of one since…

Speedster Trick: "Bullet Catching"
Hi Steve. I posted this in the Champions discussion room as well, but I was curious as to what the official answer would be. I need to make sure that this power will work the way I want it to. My character is a speedster, and I'd really like for him to be able to grab bullets or other light physical missiles out of the air before they hit their targets. This would be used to keep thugs from firing on a trembling mob of bystanders, or to protect teammates from a hail of agent fire (assuming non-energy weapons...hard to catch plasma.) I've built the power as Missle Deflection, up to Bullets and Shrapnel, and selected the Full Range option w/ MD, w/ the SFX being that I ca…

Weird question #436
Here's a nice weird question, just to try and keep you on your toes. Would it be legal to work up a character with a changing multiform. What I mean is that the character has only one other form but it can change. I assume this would have to include a advantage of somekind, most likely around the +1-11/2 range. Basicly I was think of working up Rogue in this manner, but wasn't sure of the legality of it.

A/R Cost
I have been reading the weapons in the Fifth Edition, and there is a column labeled "A/R Cost", and I cannot for the life of me figure out what this means. Help? And why does everyone refer to 5th Ed as Fred? Thanks in advance, cK

Missle Deflection on move by, throughs ect.
Another question, can you use missledeflection on another character. In this case a speedster drops from above and attempts to attack villian, villian uses missle defection. Does this work and if so how? What about move throughs move bys what if it is a flying character on a move through? Wraith

Martail Throw in mid air
During a game the other night we had a couple of questions about the effects of flying on martial throws. In this case we had a martial artist held up by TK attempt a martial throw on a flying character. They were 20" up. Would the throw send the chacter to the ground, would it send them an in in any direction with additional inches available based on damage done? Discuss:) Wraith

Followup: Mental Awareness
Under the post you just answered would it then be safe to asume that a character to do a flash vs. Mental awareness to prevent being spotted by the target of his mental blast?

Flash vs. Mental Awareness
Hello Steve I was talking to one of my players when the idea of a flash vs. Mental Awareness came up. Would a flash vs. Mental Awareness allow a character to reduce another characters DECV to 0 the way a flash vs. Sight could allow you to potentially drop a characters DCV to 0. If so then would you simply apply the rules for a regular flash or would you need new ones made up? Also could you then consider your other senses as non targeting senses for the purposes of rolling a non-targeting perception roll to get 1/2 DECV and OECV.

Overall Skills and Familiarity...
Realized right after I posted my question that Combat Sense is obviosly targeting... Anyway, on to a new question: Can a 10 pt. Overall Skill Level be used with a skill a character is only familiar with? Or with an Everyman skill? I'll leave you in peace after this one, wouldn't wanna be responsible for FH not being done on time Thanx in advance, MANCER

Combat Sense
Hey Steve, on pg. 62 of FrED it states that combat sense cost 15 pts. But, it also states that Combat Sense is built using a 5 pt detect. So why, if detect target in HTH cost only 5 pts, does Combat Sense cost 15? thanks in advance, MANCER

Damage?
I've been pondering something for a while now. If a character has a PD that decreases STUN damage to 0, does he/she still take body? It would seem to me that if they're strong enough to not take any damage STUN wise from a punch/kick, then they wouldn't be hurt, right? I've just been trying to get a good handle of the basics of combat before I throw my friends into the relm of Roleplaying (which they've never done before). I don't want to confuse them any more than they already are!

Another NND followup
Making a skill roll is not a valid NND defense, but is having the skill? I.E. a magic spell that anyone with magical training can dismiss even when asleep- NND vs having the "magic" skill.

NND Followup Question
Aren't there situations where a "Actions" can be a proper defense? The standard example is: Sonic Attack, NND (Defense is Unable to Hear or Covering Ears with hands). Is the covering ears with hands now invalid? - Christopher Mullins

A strange (but basic) NND question
1) I have noticed that it is normal practice to base the defence of a NND on a power (IE Life suport seems to be the most common), do you have to, or could you name a power type Ex: The choking hands of Uklu: 1d6 RKA, NND, Does Body, 0 end, continous, AE: Accurate with the NND defence being having spell casting abilities? 2) Can it also be having them do something? Same power as above, stops if/when the character makes a magic skill roll

Psychic Bond Mind Links
Can the Psychic Bond Adder be applied multiple times to Mind Links where more than two people are linked? (For example, triplets instead of twins.) Thanks!

Duplication and Limitations
If a character has Duplication with some kind of Limitation on it that requires some action to Duplicate, is the same action required to recombine? For example, let's say a character has Duplication bought with Incantations. Obviously, the character would need to utter the Incantations to Duplicate. Do they also need to utter them to recombine? Thanks!

DEF Advantages
Steve, I asked this in the Hero Designer section but then thought it might be good to ask this just in case. Am I correct in thinking that the DEF of a Base or Vehicle can have the same type of advantages that a character's Defenses can have? IE: Hardened, etc?

How to / is it legal... TK question
Lets say that someone has a 60 Str TK. Can they use the TK to grab one target one one phase, another target on their next phase (while continuing to hold the first one), a third one the phase after that (while holding on to the first two), etc.? If so, does the TK's Str get divided (60 Str TK / 3 targets = an effective 20 Str that each individual target would have try and break out of)? While holding three targets, are they having to pay 3X End? Are there some power advantages that need to be applied to the TK in order to get it to do the "can grab and hold successive targets" thing?

Multiform and Mind Class
Do you consider the mind class of a multiform character to be that of the current form or the true form? Example: My true form is human, but I turn into a wolf sometimes. While in wolf form, am I considered human class or animal class?

Vehicle or Base Def
If I want to purchase a vehicle or base with some level of non-resistant defenses; for example a wall of vines, or an alien race that "grows" organic vehicles, would I pay 2 pts for 1 Def, or would I pay the standard 3 pts for 1 Def with a -1/2 limitation? How about if I wanted PD and ED that differed from each other? Would I pay 1.5 pts per 1 Def, or 3 pts per 1 Def with a -1 limitation for the excess? This would make a difference if other limitations are applied, or if active points matter such as with a framework.

Grabs and Contortionist
How often can contortionist be used to escape a grab if the first attempt fails? Once every phase the character acts (Any Phase after an opponent Grabs a character with this Skill, he can use Contortionist to help him break out. pg37)? Or only 'until the situation changes in the character's favor' (pg 26).

Are attacks that don't affect PD/ED stopped by normal barriers such as walls/doors?
Say a character has N-Ray vision and a Ranged Drain attack, would a wall or Force Wall for that matter, stop this or would it just pass through it? Would like an official answer if at all possible. Thanks, Champions Guru

"Healing" Transformations
Hi Steve, I was wondering if you could Dispel a Transformed effect? For example, if a charcater was transformed into a frog with a 60 active point power, could that character be turned back to normal with a Dispel. This issue specially came up in reguards to a fantasy campain. Once character has a Tranformation spell and another wanted to Dispel it using his Dispel Spell. Thanks. Mark

Adjustment powers followup
The FAQ says: -------------------------------- Q: Do Adjustment Powers (particularly Suppress) work differently if only the effects of the power, as opposed to the creator/originator of the power, is present? Examples would include Suppress Summon against a demon to “banish†it (even though its conjuror is not present) or Suppress Mind Control after the victim’s already been affected. A: No. -------------------------------- A few subquestions on this one: 1) Is it correct that the to-hit roll to affect the effect is vs. the D(E)CV of the original effect's target (the demon, or the victim of the Mind Control), and not that of the owner of the eff…

Usable as Attack
If an attacker successfully uses Desolidification, Usable as Attack on a target, how long does the target stay desolidified? Would it be better to do this effect with a Transform? Thanks so much, you're the greatest! Nick
