Usable as Attack
If an attacker successfully uses Desolidification, Usable as Attack on a target, how long does the target stay desolidified? Would it be better to do this effect with a Transform? Thanks so much, you're the greatest! Nick

Double Dipping?
If a character takes the Disad: Physical Limitation 20' tall & then takes penalty skill levels to reflect others being able to hit & See him easier, would you consider this double dipping?

Does raised CHAR maxima affect base?
see topic... ok, this is proabably a stupid question and might be more rellevant for the fantasy forum but i was having an arguement and it quickly began to become heated over this. If you buy a package deal which contains a rise in your char maxima does this also mean your base value has increased and hence you dont have to pay points for it? example: lets say the GM permits a race of super strong orc/dwarf half breed which contains a CHAR maxima of +10 STR. this would mean that one could pay 1 point for strength all the way up to 30, yes yes? ok. so where does he start at? what STR doe he get for paying for the package and spending no points at all …

Duplication and Hydra
I choosed the wrong words... Perhaps with an example: john the duplicated man has a duplicate, john-A. They can't recombine. They are identical. John is a killer, so is john-A. John goes to kill Mr-TooMuchGood. John-A goes to a party to have an alibi (and to give the alibi to john). Some hours later john is stalked by a WannaBeHero. But the WannaBeHero doesn't know that he is going in a trap. At a certain point, when the WannaBeHero thinks that he have entrapped John, John-A appears at the back of the WannaBeHero... Ouch... Poor WannaBeHero! The Hydra can't do these things.

Bluejay's Pulse Blaster
Well, I was two-for-two in bonehead questions yesterday, so I'm hoping I don't extent the streak to three. In CKC, shouldn't Bluejay's Pulse Blaster be 4d6 and not 6d6? It looks like it was calculated without the extra +1 advantage for Autofire attacks that are Area Effect. With that advantage 6d6 comes out at 90 active, too big for her 60 active point multipower, but 4d6 is 60 active and would fit fine. I guess my question is, should this be errata or am I missing something that makes the construct legal? Interesting side note, the HeroDesigner file for her in the CKC Character Pack has her with the 6d6 EB, but if you try and edit the power, a pop up err…

Hydra, Duplication and Inherent
Why doesn't the Hydra from the Hero Bestiary have the Inherent advantage on the Duplication? The heads are something "real"... They can't be Suppressed or Drained. They are limbs (err... Heads...) Second question: there is a fixed number of "spare" heads for the hydra. Is this number just a number or it has a meaning? Third question: the fact that the heads aren't independent (they can't "divide") shouldn't be a limitation? Bye Max

Engine of Destruption
In the Hero Bestiary there is a "creature", the Engine of Destruption (or something similar, I don't have the books here). It has a Point Defense Laser (defined as a RKA) and then it has some duplicates of the PDL. How where they bought (what is the rule used) ? Second question: could a Green-Lantern-like-character pay 5 points and have a second ring (probably a Multipower-in-a-ring) and make a second attack each time?) Bye Max

Point of Clarity-Force Wall
There seems to be a misunderstanding regarding my force wall question, allow me to elaborate. If I fire a ranged attack (RKA, EB, etc) at a person in a force wall and it does enough damage the wall is destroyed and the remaining damage goes to the super in the force wall. My question was about using a HTH attack, something like this; A hero rushes towards a villian (in a force wall) and strikes the wall with his HTH attack [punch, sword etc] What then?? Does it bring down the wall, and what about the remaining damage?

Force Wall/Force Field followup
Your recent Force wall answer got me thinking, what about Force Field with the +10 point adder for protecting carried, would the carried individual be able to attack the carrier with out the ff interveining?

Force Wall question
What happens if someone tries to use a non-ranged attack against a person in a force wall ? Like doing a move-through, or using an hth attack (because you have nothing else)???

Power shut off due to Limitations
If a character is Stunned, any non-Persistent Powers shut off at the end of the Segment. Does this also hold true when a Limitation suddenly comes into play, or would the Power shut off immediately upon being exposed to the Limitation conditions? For example, your Force Field doesn't work in intense radiation and you're suddenly exposed to intense radiation. Does the Force Field shut off immediately or at the end of the Segment? (Or something else?) Thanks!

Recallable Focus
A character has an OAF which is recallable. The focus can be summoned to him using instant change as the special effect of the activation of his powers. The OAF can be summoned as a 1/2 phase action at any time provided it is not in another's possession. If someone takes it and holds it or stores it in there backpack and keeps it on their person then he cannot summon it. If they take the focus and store it in the trunk of their car and go for an ice cream then he can summon it. If they take it and throw it across the globe then he can summon it. Would this be worth a lesser limitation?

Entangle part 2 and whoops
Whoops, never mind on the Escaping from Entangles question I just asked, found the answer on the Combat and Adventuring FAQ. But I do have another question. Does the STR bonus granted by various Martial Escapes help vs Entangles, or only Grabs?

Escaping from Entangles
A character who escapes from an Entangle has either a full or half phase left to him, depending on how much he escaped by, as per the rules. But does this assume the escaping was done via STR or a "passive" attack like a damage shield? For instance, if a character blasts his way out of an entangle with an Energy Blast, does he still have a phase/half-phase left, or is his phase over, since he "attacked" with the EB? I'm guessing his phase is over, but if I'm wrong and he does still have a phase/half-phase left, can he use the same EB on another target?

CSL followup
How does applying CSL's for damage work with Advantaged powers? Suppose you have 4 CSL's used for damage for a NND attack. Do you add +6 stun, not prorated for advantages, or +3 stun prorated for advantages?

Clarification on a Multipower FAQ item
The rules FAQ currently has this item: How active does a Power have to be in order to qualify as "working" while unconscious? Does it have to be something that's in active use while the character is unconscious (like Regeneration), or can it be something that's just available for use if needed while unconscious (like Damage Reduction)? Thanks!

Combat Skill Levels and Damage in a Superheroic Campaign
On page 35 of the 5th Ed rulebook it states that you can trade 2 CSLs to add +1 Body or +3 Stun to damage dealt. Is this damage per die or damage over all? The example is unclear because it is a 1d6 attack although the method used there would seem to indicate the bonuses are added per die. Thanks for the response and the AWESOME game. Not to mention this service! Where else can you regularly get all your rules questions answered by the designer? This level of service we lead you far into the future. I participated in the write in campaign for Origins. I wish there was a category for best game designer. Steve, it would be you!

Computer number
Hello Steve, I understand that computers are subject to the : +5 points double the number rule. What I don't understand is if those different computers should be identical or not. I have a character that has 2 different 100 points computers. Does he has to pay (100/5) + (100/5) = 40 Points or (100/5)+5 points? Thanks and regards, Kloster

IPE and DCV
Good day, Mr. Long: What is the effect on the DCV of the target of an attack which he can't perceive because it has Invisible Power Effects? Would the target suffer the penalties of facing an Invisible opponent as described on 5E p. 283? And would it make a difference if only the SFX of the attack were Invisible? For example, someone swinging an Invisible sword; the sword itself may be invisible, but the action of the attacker's arm holding it would be clearly visible. Thanks for all your hard work.

Mental Illusions: Clarification
Not quite...the question is more a matter of...where is the threshold of being -able- to realize it's an illusion. Example: Professor Xavier is in Alkalai Lake when he's zapped by Mastermind. He's suddenly in a mental illusion of being at the X-Mansion. His reaction isn't "How in the world did I end up at the mansion!" I.E., he doesn't believe he's been teleported, he's clearly been affected by the illusion to the extent he -doesn't even question- the reality with which he's presented. Much as with the Mind Control modifier of Target not realizing they've been Mind Controlled...does Mental Illusions assume this as a base level? If I'm fighting EvilMan and we're …

Mental Illusions...what degree of 'reaction'?
We had a really interesting question come up in the session tonight. A bunch of mutants, using their powers to practice in a training session. One student, a teleporter, was affected by another student who was a mental illusionist. Now, she -knew- that was his power, but at the same time, he caught her with a Ego+30 effect. So, her environment suddenly turns hostile. Her reaction was to try and rescue the other students, because she believed them to be in danger from the environment. So the question came up...while yes, the environment will do damage either way to her (thanks to the Ego + 30)...does she have to believe that "this is reality now"? For example, can she…

Stretching Conundrums
1) I saw in the FAQ that Stretching can take the Megascale Advantage. If a character also has the Advantage "Does Not Cross Intervening Space" (by using 2D portals per the example on 5E page 142), and if this character had sufficient levels of enhanced senses to perceive a target at such a range with a targeting sense, could they hit them as a normal melee attack? 2) Since Stretching has an inherent Indirect Advantage to it, then it appears that Transdimensional could apply. Can Transdimensional be applied to Stretching?

Duplication and Feedback
Does the feedback disadvantage only affect stun and body. What about other powers: 1) Adjustment powers such as drains. If you drain one do you drain them all? 2) Adjustment powers such as aid and healing. If you heal one do you heal them all? 3) Mental powers such as mind control. If you mind control one do you mind control them all? If the power was to represent a character that was in more than one place at the same time it would seem that the answer to some or all of this would be yes. Maybe it is just a big can-o-worms. Thanks
