Arrival of the Duplicate
Bonjour, According to the FAQ, the duplicate can't do anything the segment he is arriving. Does he arrives at the DEX of the main character ? If yes, can he be attacked after his arrival ? If yes, can he abort for a defensive action ? Thanks

What's the difference between "plus" and "Linked"?
Several sample powers across the 5th ed. book are described as two powers Linked togother using the Linked Limitation. Yet, several powers, which to my reason should have the Linked limitation as well (such as the Power Draining Cuffs on p.145) are instead described as one power plus the second power. I figured you might use "plus" when both powers can be used individually - but in the case of the Power Draining Cuffs I'm pretty sure you can't use the Drain power without first cuffing the person -- right? Most likely I missed this ruling in the book. Thanks in advance. Roy.

Resurrection (Healing Adder)
On p. 121 in the rulesbook of the 5th Edition, there is the Adder "Resurrection". It says there that "the deceased's characters body must be healed or cured of whatever injury or disease, or other effect killed him before he is Resurrected, or else he'll probably die again quickly. How does that work exactly? Does Connor the Immortal or Vampire Lord Dracula need a First Aid treatment first before going into action again? It would be logical for me that the return itself cures that person from the effect that killed him/her. If not, does that person need another Healing power in addition (e.g. Regenerative Healing)?

Focus clarification
How do you distinguish between a focus that is difficult to replace, if taken or broken, and one that is easy to replace. For example, a power that works with only a specific sword verses one that will work with any sword. Arguably, the first case should result in a greater LIM value. Expendibility doesn't cover it, becuase that only discusses a focus being used up. Thoughts?

Missile Deflection questions
1) If a character purchases Missile Deflection multiple times (perhaps from different sources), does the cumulative -2 penalty accumulate on the character, or on each instance of the Missile Deflection (meaning each could be used once at -0, then once each at -2, etc)? 2) Can a character place only the reflection portion of Missile Deflection in a Multipower?

Stretching questions
1) If a character that has Stretching with the "Does Not Cross Intervening Space" adder executes a "Grab and Drag To Yourself" maneuver on an object, does this allow the character to retrieve the object regardless of any intervening barriers? What if the object is another character? 2) Can a character with Stretching and a ranged attack effectively treat the ranged attack as Indirect (within the stretching range), by stretching the emitting body part/focus to the desired location before firing?

VPP & Continuing Charges IN FOCI
Hi Steve; been following this in the HERO Systems Discussion and noticed the rules question you answered earlier (http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2682) Just to clarify for my own purposes: In the case of the example concept noted whereby a power is bought through a FOCI and is powered by Continuing Charges. As I understand it: 1) If the controlling character uses a Charge from the FOCI the effects of the Continuing Charge stick around for the duration of the Charge even if the FOCI is switched out of the VPP. BUT 2) If the controlling character uses a charge from the FOCI and then lends the FOCI to a friend/team…

determining damage
Hi! I am not sure how to handle the combination of hit location rules together with a ranged killing attack with power advantage explosion. If a hand grenade blows off right next to you, I don't think that there will be just on hit location taking damage, but applying the damage to all hit locations is far to powerful... What do you think? Thanx swobeas

Knockback as an Attack
This just came up last night, and I figured I'd bounce it off you. I have a guy playing a boxer in a street-level campaign who bought double knockback on his roundhouse. In the course of the fight, he tried to line himself up so that he could knock one mook back into another. I liked it, but didn't want it to be a way to automatically do damage to two people every attack. I handled it by making it a type of sweep manuver, with a -2 OCV, but not giving a 1/2 DCV because he was only getting his STR + Martial Damage once, and the KB on two people. Can you suggest a better/more in line with the game ruling? Thank you, James.

Aid vs. Continuing Charges Followup
I got your reply to my first question, Steve; but it raised a couple of other related questions in my mind: 1.) So if the Aid is continuing to affect (and subsequently fade from) the activated Charge just like it would the base Power, does that mean someone could use Adjustment Powers to alter the single charge ITSELF while it's active? 2.) What about using Adjustment powers on a Power that's being used to set up a Trigger? If I Aid my power and then set up a Trigger, and the Trigger isn't set off until after the Aid's effects have faded on the base power, would the Triggered Power still go off at the Aided level? And if not, what happens to, say, the extra …

Clairsentience and Teleport FFL
The rules state clearly that Clairsentience can't be used to establish Line of Sight for Teleportation. Can it be used to study an area for a Floating Fixed Location, or do you still need direct Line of Sight since you're still using it as a Teleport target?

Dispelling & Suppressing STUN
Some thoughts have been occuring to me and I was wondering what all of the effects of using Dispel and Suppress against STUN would be. Basically, I have two questions: 1: If you roll enough on Dispel to "turn off" someone's STUN, does that knock the person out, and how would they "turn on" their STUN again afterward? 2: If you Suppress more of a target's STUN than the target has CON, is the target Stunned? Thanks muchly,

VPP and Continuing Charges
I already posted this question in the "Hero Rules DIscussion" forum, but thought I'd run it by here to get an "official" opinion on this particular wrinkle in the rules... I was experimenting with a "super-mage" NPC for my campaign. The character has a 60 pt. Variable Power Pool, and I was thinking about supplementing her raw abilities with a few talismans and other magic items. Then I got to reading the "Continuing Charges" section of the rules -- specifically, how once you've activated a Charge for a power in a VPP or Multipower, you could then shift your points around and the power's Charge would continue to run its course. And it occurred to me that you could bu…

Adjustment Power Wierdness
Okay, guys, some of the interrelationships between Adjustment Powers, Frameworks, Et. Al., is starting to make my head hurt. Input, please? Let us assume that the Relocator has a largish transfer versus ALL fire based powers (say 3d6), all at the same time, and all points transferred go to his Strength. Relocator tags Mr. Firebrand (posessed of Flight, Force Field, and Energy Blast, all based on Fire). Relocator gets an 11, and Mr. Firebrand looses 11 points each off his Flight, Force Field, and Energy Blast. By my read of it (points is points) Mr. Relocator gains 33 points of Strength. Correct? Attendant question- Let us assume as above, but Mr. …

Megascale scaled down
Okay, I've looked through FREd, and the FAQ, but didn't see it... In many examples of equipment, I see the megascale advantage applied, but with the additional "...can scale down to 1"=1km" applied also. It looks like this is a 1/4 reduction to the megascale advantage being used, but don't see anything confirming this. Can you confirm this, or am I wrong ? As always, thanks!!! Aroooo

Aid vs. Powers with Continuing Charges
Suppose you have a power that runs off a series of Continuing Charges (say for example, a +20 ED Force Field with 4 Charges of 1 Minute each.) You then use Aid on the Force Field, increasing the power to, say, +30 ED. Then you activate one of the charges. After one turn, 5 Active Points from the Aid would fade from the Force Field. If you were to trigger the power again now, you'd only get a +25 ED Force Field. But does the charge that's already active ALSO lose 5 Active Points, or does it maintain the strength that it had at the time it was activated, for the length of its charge?

Package Deals?
I apologize if this has been asked or covered, but i was wondering.... Was it a conscious decision to remove the bonus points saved from package deals? Is there any benegit to them other than stylistic coherency? Seems in FREd there is no mention of saving points with packages at all. Is this removed now for more balanced points overall?

Cooperative Powers
How would one purchase a power that does not work unless several characters using the same power are acting together? For example, characters of a certain race of people in a Fantasy Hero game can summon other-dimensional creatures. However, it takes at least four characters acting together to effecuate the summoning. Would the power be bought by each character with a Limited Power limitation (of say -2)? Or would each character pay a fourth of the points of the power (in the same way that points can be pooled for vehicles or bases)? Or is there another way of buying the power?

continuous drain
Building a pressure point martial artist. Trying to simulate certain effects so am building like this: 1/2d6 drain(stat depends on effect), 0 end, continous, uncontrolled, recover 5 every 5 minutes(else i believe target would recover fully after phase 12 as most drained from individual roll is 3). Now, is this cumulative also, ie do I effectively drain an average of 2 active points each of my actions, or is the most i can drain 3 points. Hero player for 20 yrs, still my favorite game and am thrilled to see it back and strong.

Situational Limitations in VPPs
Just looking at Takofanes writeup on page 31-32 of CKC. He has 2 sample powers in his cosmic VPP. 10D6 RKA vs living only, and 10D6 RKA vs unliving only. Each is worth a -1/2 limitation. Are these modifiers legal? They don't seem to limit Takofanes in any way since he can switch between the attacks instantly depending on his target, and they free up lots of points in the VPP for him to use for other powers. I don't mind if a villain could do this, but allowing situational Limitations in a cosmic VPP sets a really bad precedent for players. ie a incubus/succubus with mind control only vs males, and mind control only vs females as separate powers in its m…
