I've got a puzze for you, good folks! I was concidering the judicial system in my fantasy campaign, and was musing over torturers/executioners when I remembered a thing from Feist's and Wurtz's Daughter of the Empire series. There there was a couple of drugs that, first, made it impossible for the taker to pass out, and second, intensified all sensations (especially pain). Very, very nasty, and very useful to a torturer . . . Now, how could this be built? Any takers?

Im working on a character who is ,essentialy, the spiret of a castle. The mechanics of Duplication seem to work well for this(Duplication Castle, feedback, 100% diferent, Trigger Sundown) This in itself is weird enough and i would love some feedback on it. I would prefer that if the power were dispelled that it would cause the Spiret to disapear, not the base.but i dont think its kosher to designate the primary character as the castle. So, im wondering if a +-0 modifier that causes the secondary character(the Castle) to be treated as though it was the character who payed for the duplication is appropriate? I know this is strange constructio…

I was thinking about building force fields for my Star Hero campaign which flicker on and off according to a set frequency to allow the ship's synchronized weapons to fire through unimpeded, but which hopefully catch some or all of an incoming attack. How to represent this variable defence under the rules though? An activation roll is the obvious contender, but in this instance I don't want a binary on/off, but a sliding scale of effectiveness depending on how well the roll goes. It can be done with some GM hand-waving, by buying multiple iterations of the appropriate defence with steadily increasing activation rolls, and assuming that a single roll result incl…

How useful is Champions likely to be to a non-superhero gamer? Basically I'm collecting all the Star HERO and Fantasy HERO stuff and I'm wondering how useful or relevant Champions is likely to be (if at at all) in other genres. It strikes me that as one of the basic genre books it's got to contain rules material that isn't in the others, but is it likey to be at all useful?

More basic stuff from the new guy? Say a campaign limit is set at 60 active points for attack powers. OK, 2D6 Hand Killing Attack, +1 Variable Advantage (+1/2) = 60 active points. Now said character also has a STR of 60. WOW. 4D6 HKA with any +1/2 Advantage and it is only 60 active point! How do you deal with this? Should a limit be set on DC and not active points? How would you count advantage in a DC set limit? Would you count the Variable Advantage as a +1 or just as the +1/2 that it adds to the power? Would you count charges or reduced endurance advantage in the total cost for figuring Active points or max DC? Because if the answer is yes, a…

How does one go about striking objects in combat? Let's say for example we have a group of characters pinned in a corridor by stormtroopers and while they're trading blaster fire, one of the players wants to target a little control panel at the other end of the corridor hoping it will cause a blast door to come down, effectively blocking off the evil stormtroopers. The rules mention something about DCV for objects being determined by size, but I can't seem to find details. Something about 1/2 human size being +2 DCV or else -2 OCV to the attacker and so on, but all the same, what is the base DCV a character needs to hit something?

In our group we treat literacy as being relatively broad so for instance if you took literacy for English you get literacy for free with similar languages you are fluent in ie: German, French, Spanish but you would need to purchase a seperate literacy for something like Japanese or Arabic. So how do your groups handle the flexibilty of literacy?

Considering my name here is Hunter1, I was thinking of creating a superhero called the Hunter. I could create the obvious martial artist type, but I am looking for something different and unique. Any suggestions?

the guy i want to play has a field that surrounds him distorting space and time. To people outside the field he looks like he's moving in slow motion, much slower than speed 1, he moves maybe once a minute, but if anyone, or any objects enter the field the tables are turned and the character is wizzing around at a speed of 12 while draining others speed. How do I build this? also as a side question, how much strength would it take to pull up a medium sized tree? thanks e

Okay, I've thrown together a quick-n-dirty website with my 9 completed Legionnaire write-ups on it. I'll be adding the rest over the next 2 weeks or so: Legionnaire Write-Ups Comments? Questions? Suggestions? Criticisms?

Mark's Astounding CyberEmpire O' Doom! This gentleman (whom I have yet to contact) has an interesting alternate SPD system that my GM is considering testing for adoption: SPD and actions In a nutshell: roll a D10 (or so) on a 5, SPD 5 and up characters have an action on a 1, SPD 1+ characters go (everyone) etc. Of note, - this system - randomizes not only *when* everyone gets to go in relation to each other, it also adds an element of variance to the *number of times* everyone goes. - can be made to cut back on "free" phases, thus I believe it could penalize high-SPD characters who stand to lose phases in which they could use held action…

ok, this is the first character i've dabbled with (other then a celestial). This guy has no skills tacked on as of yet, but what i need to know is whether i did the math correct and did i do the powers correct. another thing. When getting armor (Brigandine in this case) is the Defense rating equal to bothe PD and ED or just PD? I used the Heroic rules (ie. don't buy armor and weapons, unless special in some way, with character points). ok so here it is. STR 18 (8) DEX 15 (15) CON 15 (10) BOD 15 (10) INT 12 (2) EGO 13 (6) PRE 16 (6) COM 12 (1) (may be reptilian, though the sketch i did used scales more as a lady uses make-up to beautify then mortify…

Hi there. I guess the subject have allready been disscued herr, but last time I checked, the results wasn't rellay "officialy unofficial) ;o) So, is ther any way to compute an automaton EGO value in order to resist "Cyberkinesis"? BTW is ther an "official" Cyberkinesis power and the most important: it's limits? (Tech levl of the target, level of autotised functions necessary to be controled, how about Nano-Swarms, etc...) Thank you for your time. Have fun. BadNews.

If I am building critters and I have two competing creatures would it be possible to have them as hunted/hunters for each other? ie if there are superior steeds (Ember Steeds) and natural competitors (Blood Stags) then would it be worth it to make them hunted by each other? what about animal world rivalries for living space and ecology niches?

Hi Great HeroDom Iv'e got a NPC with the following abilities : The NPC is a assassin cyborg (how original !) with a partially electronic memory. He's part of a murder organisation (a bit like I.C.E. in 4ed Dark Champions). Each time the NPC is assigned to a mission, he follows this path : 1 - execute the mission (which is more or less easy to do) 2 - upload his memories of the mission to a central server for verification (and give a proof to the customer). 3 - Erase his memories (electronic and organic) of the event through nanotech so it will be impossible for anyone to probe his mind/memories or confront him with a lie detector. 4 - The NPC will eventuall…

Okay, fellow Herophiles, I'm asking for help on this one... I've spent quite a while converting the characters from the "classic" (pre-Reboot) Legion of Super-Heroes into Champions form. I've managed all of them to my satisfaction except for Star Boy and Light Lass. For the uninitiate, Star Boy induces mass from the stars into another object/person. In essence this tends to make things too heavy to move (unless you're a Kryptonian or Daxamite) and can make things like walls, buildings, and bridges buckle and collapse under their own weight. Light Lass does nearly the opposite...reducing the weight of an object or person (I'm assuming they mean de-gravitating t…

Hello, I am kind of new to the game and have a few questions. I apologies if I missed the answers to these question in the book (its kind of BIG!), or on other threads. 1-Is stun form killing attacks figured before or after resistant defense is subtracted from the total Body? 2-If a character take a half action to attack before he does any thing else the 2nd half action is lost? 3-Can a character declare he is saving is last half action to dodge or parry (or other defensive action) and then attack with his 1st half action. I am sure I’ll have more question later. Thanks

Wow. I was about to post up a bunch of questions, and just before I did so I took a quick look at the FAQ. They are really good! Is there an updated version of the PDF available? Here are two questions that I still have though. The first is really only a clarification, the second is more of a question: 1) So a focus can always be rebuilt given time/materials, and it doesn't cost character points. Meanwhile an Independent focus can't be rebuilt unless character points are spent once again. Does this mean that if a suit of armor is built in a superhero game using OAF, and it gets stolen, that the character can just build another one? If it gets stolen by …

Is there a point value for LTE? I was wondering because I was wondering if you could Heal or Aid your LTE. It's not really a separate stat. Draining it is easy just buy Drain END with 5 hr recovery time. but aiding it? or Healing the loss (say through a spell). just how would you do that?

I'm going through the mind-boggling process of figuring out who pays for what and how it is charged? Say for example, I have a Tony Stark-esque character on my team. He is the CEO and primary stock holder of a major techno corporation with deep pockets, and the Hero team has almost unlimited access to corporation resources. The team has an independent headquarters on the grounds of one of the larger corporate installations, and several members have their own sanctum sanctorum elsewhere. I would assume that each member pays for their own private base, and that each would pay a portion of the cost of the team HQ, but . . . Do I handle the team member's a…

I’m creating a character who has a 75 point MPP with special effects that I’m envisioning as being a little like a very limited shapeshift, for instance growing claws or toughening skin (and no he doesn’t possess the Shapechange power). One of the limitations I would like is for his MPP to be a little harder to change than normal. I’m looking at making it take him a half phase action to change slots. My thought is that this should be worth about -1/4 if it is a non-attack action and -1/2 if it is a half phase attack action. Thoughts?
