How much does FMove cost as a *ranged* martial elemet maneuver element? 5th ed. Ultimate Martial Artist lists the normal FMove element as 3 pts. It does not list the element for Ranged martial arts, but one of the ranged martial maneuvers has it. The math on that one works out to 6 pts. Is that right? Ranged FMove costs double?

Concept has Leaping 12m, and Gliding 12m. They're separate powers, can always be used together. The question in my mind: would the Gliding allow the character to have the benefit of Accurate on his leaping? It feels like it should to me. The Gliding would allow trajectory shaping. Or would you allow this...with Noncombat Decel on the Gliding only? Cuz that'd do it, for sure, but it feels like overkill.

My HERO creator for 6e seems to be working just fine, except there is no Equipment tab. I've seen multiple references to there being one, but I can't figure out how to get it to show up! I have Powers, Talents, Skills, etc. But no Equipment. Help please!

I'm essentially building a character who can steal the years off people's lives when making skin contact. At first I thought about a Drain but they can't get the years back so I dismissed this idea. I then thought about a HTH no range Killing Attack that's Inherent and Always On with Invisible Power Effects and made the whole year-stealing bit a special effect. I was reading through the AVAD advantage to list wearing clothing as an "alternate defense" (instead choosing to make it a Limited Power limitation), but I was curious if I could define the NND as "Life Support: Longevity (Immortal)"? my context is 6E1 pg245

If a hero with the power Stretching can stretch either arms 6" and he holds out his arms in different directions (thus 12" total), how much stretching should be gotten total? Is the 'holding out arms diff directions' just part of having the power?

So, had a notion for a character. Powers include desolid for slipping in and out discreetly, which makes Bugging and Concealment a natural option. Per 6E1, when you buy bugging, you get a small supply of average-quality bugs. You can pay points for better stuff (it's supers). Well, 1. What's average quality? (There's various bugs in the Equipment Guide, but 8x range is arguably Not Average, at least to me.) 2. Why have to re-invent the wheel? Perfectly happy to buy Electronics and Inventor. Given that, I'd rather translate the "average quality" into a free power, and just work from there for "good" bugs. So... 18 …

Do any of you use anything like this for a Natural 3 or 18? I know that we have the Critical Hit mechanic but I'm talking about specifically the buzz of a rolled 3. Namely, there has never been one in HERO games that I've played - not like rolling a Nat 20 in a certain other well-known system. Let's face it, a 3 is just so much more impressive than a 20, too, by a factor of 10 or so! Typically, a 3 has tended to be something like "I'll give you a couple of extra DCs damage" and a catastrophic 18 has only been "make a DEX roll or fall prone/ drop your weapon". I think that for Heroic level games, especially the next one that I run, I wa…

Hey! Had an idea to create a vampire with an Endurance Reserve ("Blood Tank") and was wondering if you can use a reserve like this with a Multipower? I didn't see it specifically mentioned so my guess is that it is legal?

I have a Chi expert. I'd like to replicate the Tai Lung paralysis from Kung Fu Panda. (except my chi expert is an energy projector, so it'll have Range and a blast special effect) I don't want BOECV because the character should use normal OCV to blast the target and the target should use normal DCV to avoid getting hit. Can I just use the advantages "takes no damage from normal attacks" and "works against EGO not STR" to get Mental Paralysis? Related question: It'd be nice to allow skill-based attacks against the entangle. Yes, BOECV attacks should be able to attack the entangle as normal, but so should Professional Skill: Acupuncture, or maybe eve…

Wanting opinion good/bad if the following is an acceptable means to allow a druid to pass thru plant-based barriers and entangles? Suppress Entangle BODY & rPD 4d6, Area of Effect: Damage Shield (1m Surface; +1/4), Expanded Effect (x2 Characteristics or Powers simultaneously) (+1/2) (70 Active Points); Limited Power Only Affects Plant Special Effects of Barriers & Entangles (-1), No Range (-1/2), Costs Endurance (to maintain; -1/2). This would assume that most plant base entangles would have maximum of 4pd and 4 body?

Some time ago, someone posted a houserule for characters. I think the cost of the disadvantage was 1 pt. It was for some very minor thing such as "has gold eyes" or something to that effect. Does anyone remember this?

Gang: I have a game that is at 165CP and I have a calculator that has a sliding value for Max AP in the game, so as the characters increase their CP, their AP cap increases. I have a character that wants to play a Multiform "Brick", and tried to set the AP value for the Multiform to 80 whereas my cap is 40...if I cap it at 40, the character's multiform would ONLY be like 200CP, which is not much more than 165. I was thinking of allowing him for this particular power to do an additional 10-15AP on his Cap, so allow his multiform to run 50-55AP, making the alternate form 250-275CP...which is more powerful than the 165CP limit. Is there…

Over on RPGnet there is a thread about a game called Fabula Ultima. It has a luck point mechanic where.... here: So I was thinking, we have a Luck Point System (optional). encourage the use of the luck points by tying it to PC development. What do you think?

Hi guys, Trying to build an unusual power. The concept is I flash a target. That target now has stuck on him an area of effect let's say 6 meters for the next 4 rounds where anyone else entering it will trigger another flash. So basic concepts are there has to be a trigger which will then generate a flash attack that affects anyone who entered the area, but it also effects the person it is stuck on. I figure the power is uncontrolled and cannot be bought with reduced endurance in any way so you have to spend the endurance for how long the field lasts. There are some uncommon effects in this power and I haven't built a power that sticks…

Hi all! I have a player in my game that has a multipower reserve with 3 Aid powers: - Fixed Slot: Aid 3d6 STR, time limit: 1 minute. - Fixed Slot: Aid 3d6 OCV, time limit: 1 minute. - Fixed Slot: Aid 3d6 DCV, time limit: 1 minute. Since this is a heroic game, all powers cannot pass 30 active cost, so that multipower reserve have 30 Active points too, and i know that multipower reserves limits how many points can be used with that powers, so, since all powers are fixed slots and have time limit, he cannot activates all powers simultaneously. But, how about activate the same time limit power multiple times?. Can he, for example, use Aid OCV multiple ti…

I was doing some research on Boxing and came across commentary on how devastating a Liver Punch was. In looking at Hero, I'm uncertain how to best replicate it. There is nothing like a Liver Punch in the Hero System Martial Arts book that I could find. It seems to function like an Impairing shot to the Chest or Vitals but am wondering how to do it without requiring the target take half their BODY in a single hit. Maybe build a maneuver that targets area 11 with the Disable element? Per page 96 there is text that "At the GM's discretion, a character can define a single specific non-limb target (say, the Chest) for use with the Disable Element if he …

I'm trying to make a silent ninja character. The idea is that even though he doesn't speak, he can still respond by staring back at them and using minimal body language. Anyone observing the conversation that can see him immediately understands what he's getting at. Example Conversation: Blaster: VIPER has abducted the mayor! What's our plan team? Brick: Those snakes can't hurt me. I'll charge right in there! Silent Ninja: ... Brick: Reckless? What do you mean? Silent Ninja (with a more serious expression): .... Brick: VIPER's got Grond with them!? Silent Ninja: *nods, then closes his eyes* Blaster: You've got a plan, Ninja…

In a game using Package Deals, what do you think about a 5 point Social Complication? You qualify for the Complication if you take EVERYTHING in the Package Deal, because doing so makes your character more predictable... For example, if the GM created a racial package deal for Elves, anything taking Everything in the deal would qualify for the Complication, because any character with KS: Elves would be able to predict things about your character once they know you're an Elf, and could deduce you are one, potentially... Thoughts?

Apologies for the rambling, I find that if I take the time to write down a topic question I frequently already know the answer. But this time I'm not sure if I do. There was a stretch in the oughts' and early teens' where I was bouncing back and forth between HERO and GURPS semi-regularly. This has messed with my understanding of both, I'm sure. Regardless... There's a rule in GURPS, primarily for combat, called "Readying". The idea is that you have something held or carried such that you can use it pretty much immediately, with no fiddling. To use HERO terminology, it's strongly related to the "STR Min" and somewhat related to the "Required Hands" of the weap…

Has anyone created a master list of martial maneuvers incorporating all the maneuvers from HSMA/UMA, Lucha Libre Hero and so forth? HSMA has a nice long list and LLH an even longer one, but it would be nice to have something comprehensive, with maneuvers sorted by type(strike, block/dodge, throw, grab, escape, weapon manuevers, etc.). There are literally hundreds of maneuvers, not including one-off martial arts written up in various places. If no one has, I'm inclined to take the project on.

Hello, Recently, I purchased the Power Ranger RPG, and I'm working on converting the setting to the HERO System. The mechanics of the Power Ranger RPG (using 'Essence 20') are just not satisfying me, and so I've decided to make the effort to convert the flavor of it into HERO. Below, you'll see what I think to be a fairly well detailed description of how I would like the basic 'Morphing' mechanic to work. All the PCs will be doing this on a regular basis, so it's important to me that I get this core aspect correct before I move on to what I consider the 'easier' aspects of conversion of the setting. If you have time, I'd love to see your thoughts a…

Hello all, As a GM, I have created a siren-type NPC who has a fully invisible EGO drain only vs. men. I'm curious - what would the male heroes feel (if anything)? Would they feel just more susceptible to suggestions or would they not feel anything until she uses one of her mental powers on them? Thank you!
