  1. A Thread for Random Videos

Re: Speaking of unholy abominations... You know, that's kind of catchy. I'm sure it will make into some video game trailer somewhere. Rep for amusing me.

  3. Old School

Re: Old School That Gambit comment was priceless. Repped. Hey, think about V&V where you could literally just end up with all kinds of nonsense on your sheet.
  4. What Have You Watched Recently?

Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Oz is a little over the top, but yeah prison is a nasty place. I had to stop watching that show because it was so depressing. I can't imagine prison is fun in the UK either though.
  5. Re: What Fiction Book (other than Science Fiction or Fantasy) have you recently finis I've read several Vachss novels, and though they vary in quality, I have generally like them. Blue Belle was one of the ones I liked. I always thought that Flood would make a great movie. I even had it cast in my mind. Keep in mind this was the early to mid 90s when I thought this up. In my version, Burke was going to be played by Ray Liotta. Max the Silent was going to be Jackie Chan. Especially because Chan couldn'ty really handle too much English back then. Nowadays I might go with Gerard Butler and Jet Li. To me, Vachss was Stieg Larsson before Stieg Larsson was.
  6. A Thread for Random Videos

Re: A Thread for Random Videos This was as sad as it was funny. 1) Why in the world would you let a game bother you to the point where your voice got that high. 2) What prevents you from just logging off and coming back when this troll is not around or just switching to another server. 3) You could always just read a book instead or something.
  7. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore Turnip and collard greens are great when made just right. That usually means that there's part of a pig in the pot when they are cooking. I've seen some healthy recipes that seem like they might be good, but I'm a traditionalist with it comes to soul food. Spinach is great raw. I've only had chard once, and it was OK. I had this great Caesar salad the other day that was made with kale instead of lettuce. It was awesome. Come to think of it, I really like kale.
  8. What Have You Watched Recently?

Re: What Have You Watched Recently? History is a lot more fluid concept than most people want to admit, or even think about. A lot of people that we lionize have a lot of dirt in their backgrounds.
  9. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore Dude, if greens cooking gets to you, I can't imagine how you respond when someone is cooking chitterlings (or chitlins if you aren't being all seditty). Greens I'll eat by the bushel, especially if my grandma made them. You can't get me anywhere near chitterlings, which smell just like what was once inside them when cooking. For the uninitiated, they are pig's intestines. Here, read the prominent food safety warning in this article if you really want to put off them forever. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chitterlings
  10. What Have You Watched Recently?

Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Booth at the End is a triumph of writing over budgetary considerations. Very clever, and it really holds your attention despite the limitations imposed by the set-up. Starlost was kind of cool for what it was, if quite dated. Still, I enjoyed a great sense of nostalgia when looking at the way they handled the effects and costuming. Sometimes I miss models filmed on blue screen and little miniature cities.

  12. Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Re: Percy Jackson and the Olympians I don't know. In a modern or near future setting, the severely ADD or dyslexic character should not be able to have certain skills at a high level of proficiency, or have to pay some extreme sort of premium. Being illiterate alone in our society is such a disadvantage that I would expect it to be valued at about 10 points. Add onto that the inability to learn at all, and I would say 15 points is about right. In a fantasy game, maybe not so much.
  13. Funny pics

Re: Funny pics I say he sticks with Plan A. At least he can get some break-up sex out of it.
  14. What Have You Watched Recently?

Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Jekyll was great. I agree the actor was brilliant in both roles, but I especially loved him as Jekyll. I highly recommend the series to anyone who has not seen it. Gina Bellman was also good. I did not expect her to have as much dramatic range as she did. I mainly remember her from Coupling, where she played a complete arihead. Too bad they didn't do more of them. Julia Stiles was a very good guest star on Dexter, and I liked the whole storyline for that season very much. I don't want to spoil it for you, but I don't think you will be disappointed. There were a lot of edge of your seats moments. Bakshi was an innovator for his time. His work often just doesn't stand up well in retrospective. You have to understand that he was making subversive and intentionally controversial material. He was making a sort of anti-Disney statement with his early films. His animation was meant to be the equivalent of underground comics set in motion. Some of it was memorable. Some of it was execrable.
