The problem with that is you cannot ignore the MPAs that the evil Doctor can throw around. Assuming some clever usage of the secondary array, things can move towards Dr. D's favor fast. Probably unfortunately for Destroyer, only the Secondary Destroyer Beam makes a lot of sense, but multiple attacks will have the advantage of all being reduced separately by the DR. Somewhat of a surprise is the fact that Destroyer does not have an autofire attack in either array... which really would be the real DR buster.

Now, the final thing to think about is that Dr. Destroyer does have a VPP himself. We can assume that he would be prepared for a fight with Takofanes, and could add a few devices to his arsenal to help him.

First, Destroyer would for sure add additional mental defense to his equipment (is a suggested gadget for him, in any case). In any case, Dr.D is not as vulnerable to Mental Attacks as one would think, since he and Taky have the same ECV (and the same number of levels that could be applied to ECV).

Add to that an autofire attack (even a 9d6 AF5 EB will do 4 damage per shot, on average, after Reduction), and I think the Evil Undead gets screwed.

I go away for a year and a half, and when I finally come back, what's the first thing I see?

Truly, there is nothing new under the sun.

Silbeg, I guarantee that your point has already been raised, and disputed, somewhere on this thread.

Haerandir, welcome back! Sorry you had to be greeted with this.

Oh, I don't know LL, it's not all bad. Sure, my first reaction was to bang my head against my desk, but sometimes the ancillary discussions are worthwhile... Some of my greatest hits are on this thread!

I consider this thread a rite of passage. You jump in, you get caught up in the big stupid fight, and after a while you realize it's all pretty silly in the end. Eventually, you realize that who wins the Dr. Destroyer vs. Takofanes fight ultimately boils down to the dramatic needs of the story you're telling... Which is how it should be! Yay! In the end, we all win!

Unless, of course, we move on to the Gravitar vs. Eurostar thread...

Eh. I got through half the first page, filed it under "HA! Look, an unwinnable contest! Plot drives this one!" and then skipped to the end. To discover that Silbeg had quoted from the front page. I feel bad for the 178 pages in between here and there.

Oh. And I voted Destroyer. Because, obviously, he'll win.

Gang, I recently had this exchange about this thread with Log, our board colleague and one of our moderators:

In case it's not clear, I do get the joke of continuing to revive the thread, and my own response is half-joking as well. But really, the joke has worn pretty thin by now. Nothing helpful or insightful has been added to the discussion in a long time, and AFAICT the thread no longer serves any useful purpose. So yes, if you're giving me the option, I would just as soon see it locked.

Before you do that, though, may I have your permission to post this exchange on the thread? Just so people seeing the lock will know where it's coming from.

    Thanks again,

    LL

Post what you need from here, no problem. Just let me know when to close the door

I do apologise to anyone who has had fun with this thread. But as the one who started it, and who seems to be the butt of current jokes at least half the time, I think I have a legitimate right to request that it come to an end.

Log, whenever you're ready, let 'er slam.
