    Help Construct-A-Villain 1.4

It's time for the next question. Actually two questions... one in poll form, another in reply form...

The Poll Question: What Type of Powers does our Villain exhibit? (I've tried to keep the list to things that fit our facts so far...)

So Far: Our villain was cloned from a hero, without his permission and could very well be an imperfect copy. He was a patriot once but has turned his back on western culture and now works against it and it's industrialization. He changed after discovering what had happened to all of the imperfect copies that were made, all the poor wretches that didn't quite form correctly. He's out to get the country that spawned him--the imperfect copy of the original, a man who already served his country and served it well. How many more of him will they make unless he stops the madness?

Other Question: Should I have a poll on where the villain is from, or should we simply keep it the U.S. because that's where all the published campaign cities are?

    I'd keep him a U.S. villain.
Now Venture will send Sampson after the rest of us, and he'll go totally sickhouse on our asses. I like my ass, gentlemen.

-The Monarch addressing his henchmen, Dia de Los Dangerous!, The Venture Bros.

Up yours, Zoidberg. Up wherever your species traditionally crams things.

-Hermes Conrad, A Clone of My Own, Futurama

    Lets go be Bad Guys.

    -Jayne Cobb, Serenity

I am a leaf on the wind...watch how I soar.

    -Hoban 'Wash' Washburn, Serenity

I'll leave him an ex-US hero. Superheroic comics are mostly an American thing, aren't they?

I voted for a shapeshifter here. Who can you trust? He could be anybody. It ought to make all the players paranoid.

I'd keep him as a U.S. based character.
Still playing/running 5ER in Oklahoma City.

Doesn't matter to me which country of the west he's turning coat on, but I must admit Solomon has a point about the US being most likely (Not because the govt is EEEVIL or anything, but because it's traditional in comics and it has the tech).

    hrm.

    Clones.

Might as well put him in the US.

He might not be evil, but Comics involving Clones sure are!

I'd agree, but what's scary is this guy is forming up to be a lot like an NPC hero I run in one of my campaigns... so far anyways.

Well, you are the Spirit of the Polls. It's only natural you would be able to channel the power of the Polls-to-be, and Polls-yet-to-come when you need extra Creative Energies!

I voted for Insect control because so rarely is it done well, maybe the original had a different animal control power something more "noble" like canines or avians but the copy's powers are twisted and thus it controls a "simpler" form of life.

But I do think he should be American just to avoid offending othe nationalities with accidental stereotypes.

    I voted for the supersoldier.
    [Schemer mode ON]
It fits with him being created by a Taiwanese intelligence agency to replace the real superpatriotic dude. Once the clone replaces the original he will begin spewing out hate-filled anti-communist slogans, emberassing thousands of liberals and entertainers.

I voted for the weather controller. The poll for who he's working for now came up with an anti-industrial group, and it just seems natural (no pun intended -- really) that he'd have this sort of ability.

As for the parent's country of origin, I'd vote for the USA, though a poll would be appropriate just to make it "official."

I went with shapeshifter in the end. Given the nature of his background, it made sense to me that even the original hero would be a slightly shady kind of character (Nick Fury rather than Superman), hence the people he worked for being the kind of people who carry out this kind of cloning scheme. I think it makes him more scary as an NPC too - being hunted by an evil Superman you know you're going to have a few rough fights. Being hunted by an evil shapechanging Nick Fury - now that's bad news...

I went with 'Gremlin" for two excellent reasons.

    1) Is there ANY power more useful in modern/superhero world warfare?
I mean, technology is so essential... a thousand of him would be unstoppable.

    2) is there any power more capable of screwing up the cloning process? Well, yeah, but... He could have "created" his dark nature by reprogramming the cloning device subconsciously. ie he WANTED that. (maybe he "knew" about the twisted clones?)
