    Semi OT, new superheroish movie

So, you say you want a movie, set in the 30's, sort of H.G. Wells, meets the Iron Giant, meets Crimson Skies, meets Indy Jones? And you want it to star Angelina Jolie, Jude Law and Gwenyth Paltrow?

Done. It'll be out this summer...

Saw the preview for this before Return of the King. Looks interesting, and ironically, we saw it just after I was commenting to my girlfriend that Jude Law struck me as an actor in the style of the 20s and 30s, rather than today.

Next day... we see Skycaptain as a preview. "See, they were listening..." says Susan.

    Could be fun.

D'oh! I knew I should have checked the other forums first. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this as well.

Possibly because the trailer was being put together while the score was still being worked on. It's not uncommon-- I remember the Casper the Friendly Ghost trailer using parts of Nightmare Before Christmas' soundtrack (which gave me an extra reason to loathe it).

It's a very common practice to use an existing, and already proven to be well recieved, piece of theme musuc for the first round of previews. The Forrest Gump campaign used the music for Dragon-the Bruce Lee story throughout it's run.

I love the look of this movie, it reminds me a great deal of the Fleischer Superman shorts. Someone put some love in it.

I'm very dubious. The look, while everyone is raving, annoyed me....looks too much of good thing. Too many soft focus shots, too much fuziness and haze... I'm hoping that is just the trailer.

It looks to me like they are trying too hard capturing the serial vibe. Hey, I have a huge softness for pulp, but this should be hitting me right in the bread basket.. and it wasn't. Not quite sure why.

Storn, you're just grumpy from spending too many hours with ink stains on your hands, bent over your work. My advice is to call up Neil and convince him to restart the RDU PBEM game so you can spend some time pecking at a computer instead!

I'm actually looking forward to the Hellboy flick even more than this one, not to hijak the thread...

Hellboy, man do I want that to work out. I know Mike was there at filming and Del Toro is sympatico with him but I'm having a hard time believing it will work on screen.

Of course I felt the same about Lotr.

As to what Storn was saying about the fuzzylook of the trailer, at the time I thought that it was like someone's dream scene and the clip would cut to a little depression era boy listening to the radio. It has an intensely sureal quality but whose to say that couldn't work.
