Discount to upgrade from download to CD version?

I purchased the download version, but I'm thinking I'd really like to get the CD-ROM sent to me, is there a discount (like paying the difference in cost + shipping?) for those of us who already got the download?

[And before everyone asks, yes I know Steve doesn't have time to come and find anyone doing this, but there is an ethical issue relating to piracy here.]

I bought two download copies as XMas gifts, and I asked Ben if I could burn them to CD and he didn't have a problem with that. So, I can't see the problem with burning a d/l'ed program onto CD being bad.

However, in HD's case, the CD has not just one platform's version of the app, but all of them (Mac, PC, Unix, etc.), and that would create some piracy issues.

I believe burning them to cd is ever recommended so that you do not lose the copy you have due to system crash or the like. DOJ does not care what you do with your product. They just don't want you distributing it to others.

The multiple platforms was exactly what I was thinking about. I'm thinking about getting a little $200 UNIX machine from Fry's electronics that I could take to work. (Gotta love extension cords and power inverters LOL) Ah well, I'll just stick with Windows. Heheheh. :-)

I recommend backing up any file you download from us so that I don't get emails from people saying "I bought this a few months ago and my hardrive crashed. Can I download it again?"

Generally speaking, you're entitled to burn any file you own to a CD. Almost every EULA I've seen permits this.

What you're not allowed to do, of course, is slip that CD to your buddy who doesn't want to pay for the program.

We'll not only permit you to burn your copy to CD, we encourage it. That gives you a backup in case you lose your copy or your computer crashes or something, because we don't provide free "replacements."

Naturally, this is a backup for your own personal security. Distributing it to other people is Right Out.
