Converting Tri-Tac

Has anyone tried converting the Tri-Tac materialover to Star Hero/Hero?

Fringeworthy-Traveling through other dimensions via an interdimenisonal highway with circular portals. (Don't mention Stargate to Richard Tuckola)

FTL:2448 a standard ships in space campaign, but highly detailed.

Incursion-Human abductees capture the ship Ardanna Nu and try to figure out a way to get back to Earth. The ship was built by an alien race so long ago, that no one knows how it was built.

I didn't mention the last world, since that goes to Horror(Stalking the Night Fantastic:Bureau 13) and not Sci-Fi

I used DI to play a Bureau 13 campaign and a short campaign using FTL2448. Not really much needed converting that I can remember, we just used the HERO rules with the Tri-tac setting. I always liked Tri-Tac, the rules were a little hit or miss (some I really liked some not so much) but the settings were great. Tri-tac still has a lot of stuff available in PDF.

I ran a "Fringeworthy Hero" campaign once. Since the fringeworthy come from all walks of life, it was basically just a normals campaign. Each player created a pretty normal joe (or jane) and then got to add a couple of package deals that represented IDET training. It worked out pretty good. Very similar to a Morrow Project campaign I played in that used Hero System.

I've still got a lot of the Fringeworth stuff I made up in a zip archive on my computer. We use some house rules that boost firearms damage and generally make thing more deadly. I have various Mellor made up, equipment, firearms, some of the PCs, etc. a whole hodge-podge of stuff. Most everything is in Excel or Word. At 229Kb the file is a too big to attach here but if you want a copy of it you can email me Edsel . Better make the subject Fringeworthy so I can sort it from all the other traffic I get.

Richard Tuckola might not be a great game designer, but he sure is a great setting designer.

If you want detailed starship econmic rules, get FTL:2448. Costs on building and maintianing a ship are in there.

Ah well. I have no idea why Stargate SG-1 is in Star Hero, but since it was I put Fringeworthy in.

To those who want to run a Stargate like campaign, Fringeworthy along with that file he mentioned.

If you want to see what the Excel sheets that I used for character creation look like, you can download a free viewer for Excel from Microsoft at the link below. The viewer will allow you to look at and print Excel files, but not change them. Its about a 3 Mb download.

And he was pretty PO'd with the studio that released Stargate. He felt at the time it was a blatant ripoff of Fringeworthy and felt they should have asked him, at the very least, before making the film.

I don't know how he feels about the TV series, which is VERY much like Fringeworthy.

I personally would love to see new editions of the classic Tri-Tac games, with updated mechanics, sample characters, and new art and production values. Only lack of funds has kept me from buying a copy of Incursion, which would have made one of the greatest Science Fiction TV series of all time. I can see the intro now. "Eight men and women from Earth, the present day. They were abducted to be sold as slaves on the galactic market, but have broken their bonds and now control a starship like no other. Relative position of Eearth: UNKNOWN...." and then the theme music begins. That would rock in a way no Trek clone ever could!

Off topic here a bit,

There have been a lot of gate travel books and stories thru the years, so I would mostly side with the good ole "great minds think alike" explanation.

On the other hand, an good enteraiinment lawyer could make the case, if he could afford one.

I would be interested in Steve's opinion.
