    SIDEKICK version of HD?

    Greetings folks.

I don't know if this has been covered before and if so please direct me to the discussion and then delete this thread.
    But if not..
Given the recent push to make the system desireable and accessable to a wider audience, it occurs to me that a limited version of HD that would parallel SIDEKICK would be a great idea. All it would have to do is allow one to create a basic character and print the basic Hero System Character sheet.
Hmm... maybe a revamped/or slightly limited version of HD version 1?

We don't have any plans for that. The SK version of HD is: buy HD, and just don't use the bits not referred to in SK.

    Steve,

Couldn't someone (not necessarily someone at DOJ, just one of us fans) design a Sidekick Template for HD or HD v2 ?
Where only the options in Sidekick would be available?

Well, it may not have been the motto for the whole school, but it was posted prominently in the lunchroom.

As long as it still requires the purchase of the full HD program to use the template, I wouldn't object.

Just a quick note on this:

I will be updating the built-in templates for HD shortly to indicate those abilities that are defined in Sidekick.

Combined with the new "Filter by Source Book" functionality in HDv2's campaign rules section, this will give you what you want (just deselect all source books except for Sidekick in your campaign rules).

    Most excellent.

OK...the Sidekick "filtering" for HD is done and is currently available in the interim build (see the change log in the HD forum for the link).

    To use:

Go to File -> Preferences... and uncheck all source books on the "Template" tab except for SIdekick. This will remove all abilities not defined in Sidekick, as well as all Adders, Modifiers, etc.

It is important that you use the built-in templates when you do this, as custom templates will not have been adjusted yet.

    Enjoy!

--This will be a part of the next update (2.25) if you don't want to mess around with the interim build.

    Thanks Dan,

I am pretty sure that the source book filtering functionality will pretty much achieve the same goal as I was initially asking about.
