Move Custom Language Chart to Campaign Settings

I dont suppose it would be feasible to make allowances for a custom language chart in the Campaign rules would it? Because, when you think about it, the campaign setting drives the languages that are in use.

It would greatly simplify trying to have a custom Language chart and would allow Templates used as Race and Profession "Packages" or starter files to be used for many Campaigns without needing to load another template to pick up the custom language chart for whichever setting.

    Just a thought....

Not really.....the language familiarity chart is far too "brute force" in its implementation to be included in a UI screen.

As you know, you can create custom language charts in the template.....which is where it's going to have to stay for now until I come up with some brilliant idea on how to simplify the whole thing.....

Sorry for the misunderstanding -- I dont mean a U/I in the campaign rules, I just meant moving the XML from the template file into the Campaign rules file so that when I pick a campaign rules file the Custom Language def, if any, is applied from there.

For example, lets say me, Hierax, Midhir, and Eosin are all busily working on Fantasy HERO Content and have a variety of race package Templates and profession Templates, and combinations thereof, and another template defining a custom Language chart.

We each have a Campaign Rules file as well as our personal preferences dictate. I have a SanDora Campaign Rules file, Hierax has a Oerth Campaign Rules file, Midhir has a Old World Campaign Rules file, and Eosin has a Mabinogin Campaign Rules file.

Each of these files represent different Campaign Settings, and each of these settings have different language charts even if they are otherwise identical.

If it were possible to include the custom template XML for the Language Chart into the Campaign Setting file and have it load with the Campaign Settings file, it would be kind of a neat touch and involve one fewer file if we trade our race and profession templates.

Thus we could just "New Character from Template" from each other's files and then just set the Campaign rules to our own and the custom Language chart comes with.

Yeah, I was thinking about doing an ASP page for custom langs like the NCM page, but I couldnt figure out a good interface that wasnt largely manual and very prone to entry errors.

I could probably do it w/ an ASP.NET app, but my service provider doesnt support it on the plan Im currently on and I dont have enough motivation to pony up the extra dollars just to do 1 page.

The XML doesn't belong (and won't be inserted into) the campaign rules. That is part of the basic definition/setup of the Language Skill, which is why it is placed in the template.
