Re: City of Heroes, NDA Lifted ! ! !
Its a mix of both Hack'n'slash and role-play/story depending on how you play it. All of the contacts will give you background information on why you are going on a certain mission, its up to you to read it or not. The world is fairly interactive, if you save someone from a mugging, the victim will comeup and thank you. Sometimes its a bit ridculous, as woman in a dress comes bounding down 20 ft of boulders past zombies, and thanks you then runs off, buts the environment does interact with you. Also I once remember passing two people and them talking about my character ("Hey that's Diamond Jack, I heard he took on two gangs of thugs and beat them up single-handedly.")
Players vary, some do a lot of role-playing, some don't. I didn't role-play too much in beta, but thats because it was beta and we were trying to break stuff. I will probably do more RP-ing in the live version. Its been mentioned several times before, but being set in a modern period, role-playing is easier as you can use modern phrases and jokes and still role-play.
The stories are very well written and the world is beautiful. The people who developed the story lines put a lot of thought into it and really made a good and interactive world.
First in my class here at MIT / Got skills, I’m a champion at D&D / MC Escher - that’s my favorite MC / Keep your 40, I’ll just have an Earl Grey tea
Only question I / Ever thought was hard / Was do I like Kirk / Or do I like Picard
Think I’m just too white and nerdy
