    Icon17 City of Heroes, NDA Lifted ! ! !

    Greetings!

We are writing this evening to inform you that the City of Heroes Non-Disclosure Agreement has officially been lifted!
    Whoohoo!

I play a fire/fire blaster and the fire graphics are fantastic. I started with this single target fire nuke and a ring of fire that Entangles villains in place briefly, then soon picked up a fire sword which is GREAT. Then a fireball AE and a new fire sword where I leap into the air, spin 360 degrees and then CRASH back to earth dealing massive damage to anyone within reach.

I also have a Katana/Dark Force meleeer, the katana animations consist of leaning forward slightly and waving a katana from right to left gracefully, with a soft Whooosh!

The Dark powers, when I got Death Shroud I was playing a demonic looking female, whos costume to me resembles strips of muscle torn from living flesh and a few purple arteries and veins here and there. And a spiked tail. The first power I couldnt see her at all through the gray cloud but very quickly I got Death Shroud, which has columns of smoke rising from the ground to my waist, and shadowy tentacles twisting in the smoke. Seriously awesome.

The city looks great too. I really love this game. The NPCs have dialog and they dont just stand around waiting for you, you can find them fighting rival gangs, jacking a car's tires, trying to break into houses, training each other in various moves.

The Galaxy City Contacts I think are more interesting, but Atlas Park is very beautiful and nice zone to start in.

I think the ending was really interesting.
(screen shots, I didn't get to play the thing.)

Sounds like you had a blast. Is the game Roleplay or more hackn'slash (as most MMORPG's are)

Its a mix of both Hack'n'slash and role-play/story depending on how you play it. All of the contacts will give you background information on why you are going on a certain mission, its up to you to read it or not. The world is fairly interactive, if you save someone from a mugging, the victim will comeup and thank you. Sometimes its a bit ridculous, as woman in a dress comes bounding down 20 ft of boulders past zombies, and thanks you then runs off, buts the environment does interact with you. Also I once remember passing two people and them talking about my character ("Hey that's Diamond Jack, I heard he took on two gangs of thugs and beat them up single-handedly.")

Players vary, some do a lot of role-playing, some don't. I didn't role-play too much in beta, but thats because it was beta and we were trying to break stuff. I will probably do more RP-ing in the live version. Its been mentioned several times before, but being set in a modern period, role-playing is easier as you can use modern phrases and jokes and still role-play.

The stories are very well written and the world is beautiful. The people who developed the story lines put a lot of thought into it and really made a good and interactive world.

I loved that part -- sometimes they'd say things to me like "That Char sure is a great power" (I think they must have known what my most frequently used power was), or "You've been in Paragon City for 54 hours."

Looks like it'll be really fun, especially once the live community gets up and running.
