Thumbup Well, who'd a thunk it?...

    D&D gets positive press... Finally.

Of course, it ain't Hero, but then it's always good to see that the ranks of geriatric gamers (such as myself) continue to swell...

Check out the link to the story.

The other day someone asked me how long I've been playing guitar. And my answer was "longer than I care to admit." About 17 or18 years. That article made realize that I've been playing RPGs for about 20 years. Has it been that long since sixth grade and the yellow Marvel Super Heroes box? Man, I,m gettin' old.

Only twenty years? I thought, then realized, that is the length of a generation. a score of years. A long damn time.

    Now I feel old.

Why not? Both are romanticized versions of events with very critical pieces of information left out...

Re: Well, who'd a thunk it?...

Yes but thing is that the godfather trilogy is one of the films I dislike with a passion, and after reading some revives on the net I think it is fair to say that I would feel the same for Mazes and Monsters.
Thing is: How the hell could the database know that? It is not like the movies are in the same genre? Or have even something remotely in common. So what they say to me is: Hey! If you like this lame movie you have so bad taste that you will also like this lame movie too. And carry in mind that the godfather films are seen as "masterpieces" by almost everybody. So how could they know that I would not like mazes and monsters? How did they know that I did not like the godfather?
The only logical answer (except that they have smurf-spies behind my eyes) must be that the two movies actually are similar (I have a attack roll you can’t refuse...) and that is just weird.

I ordered my original AD&D from Sears. Remeber back then? oh, right, Sears no longer is a catalog company. I just passed 25 years of gaming. Somebody get me my 4" MV (not on stairs or soft soil -1) wheel chair.

A quarter century sounds about right... I'd say I feel old, but I'd be blatantly lying. Besides, like the man says, "It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage..."

    /obscure database skill on

Actually, it's probably like this: You're interested in a film that starred a future multiple Oscar winner. You may be interested in (random film with Oscar winners in it).
