City of Heroes

Admittedly, this is my first MMORPG that I've played...so, I have no other games to compare it to.....but....

THIS GAME ROCKS!

While the small set of powers (at least, starting powers) appears to be a bit limited, I kind of think of them in terms of HERO powers (and not the SFX).

The costuming options are awesome (although I wish I could get better conversion to JPG format). Definitely try out the random feature when creating a character. I've found about 70% of the random costumes to be very suitable (with just a bit of tweaking).

Teaming up with other players is definitely a lot of fun (my Martial Artist, Aquamarine, was teamed with a healer (Dr. Telin) and a blaster (Nova Starr).

It does require a newer, high-powered video card (I had to upgrade mine, had to reseat my RAM to install the card, then tried to install my RAM backwards...but that's a different story).

So, the total cost for me to start to play was about $280. But it's definitely money that was well spent.

I just installed a 128 meg video card and I have 512 of ram. Will I be ok to play this thing?

Minimum video card: GeForce 2 Series or Radeon 8500 Series

Recommended: GeForce FX 5600 or Radeon 9600 Series

I'm running a Radeon 9800 Pro (128 MB RAM) and 256 MB RAM on my motherboard. I do get some lag when launching mission areas [when teaming up with other players] which may be due to my 256 MB RAM.

This is the first game in many a moon that i am worried about buying and NOT being able to run. Have you seen any bugs or slow frame rate while playing? Any good stories to tell? I'd love to get a group from the Hero Boards together and play say once a week or so.....
