Chat room issue

I was thinking I'd drop in the chat room to see if anyone was about, and it won't let me create an account. I tried my discussion board credentials and those didn't work.

I keep getting "screen name already in use" errors. I even got that on random character strings.

Anyone know what's up?

The chat room works fine fo me. But I can't get into Hero Central anymore. I had to register with a different name.

The forums are run off of vBulletin, which uses its own login system.

The rest of the site has its own user registration system (which works with site areas such as Digital Hero, the chat rooms, and the online store).

It sounds like you've found the registration area (click on "Login" on the left nav bar of the home pate)....but it sounds like you are not changing the right field in the registration. There are two "name" field errors that you may get:

"Specified display name already in use. Please choose another."

This means that the display/real name that you have specified (the one that will be used for display purposes in the chat) has already been taken by someone else. Change the "Real Name" field of the registration form to a different value.

This means that the user name portion of your login has already been taken by a different user. Change the "User Name" field of the registration form to a different value.

The username/password is case-sensitive, so make sure that you enter them in the proper case.

Ok, it was hanging up on my Real name, so I got past that. But now when I bring up the chat it shows my Real Name not my display name "Sir William". How do I edit this?

Real Name/Display Name are one and the same. Edit your user prefs and change the "Real Name" setting.

User Name is just used for login purposes.

I tried that. It still doesn't work. Is there a "have you forgotten your password" option? Although I think I remember it, I may be thinking of another one.
