Ok...phew! That didn't take long! Got a message from Jessie over at GOO. He says the rumor of SAS's demise is untrue. Monolith (not sure if the same guy) on the RPG.net boards has the wrong info.![]()

Well, not in the immediate feature, according to jscoble of GOO.
However in the long term I suspect it will cease to be published. It's my favourite superhero system but between M&M and HERO I just don't think there's room for a third.
So that's what an invisible barrier looks like.
Really, I think they should just give up on the d20 version of SAS and concentrate on the Tri-Stat version.

I think the format they've used turns some people off. (Like me)
† The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. (Ps. 37:32) †
"If we do not maintain Justice, Justice will not maintain us." Francis Bacon
"Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things." Winston Churchill
Could you elaborate? JCOriginally Posted by Agent X
I'm talking literally the format. The half-tones of gray, how they arrange the page, and the like makes it harder for me to read than Hero or M&M products.Originally Posted by Just A Guy Name

I'm guessing you mean the supplements, such as the Roll Calls. Is that right?Originally Posted by Agent X

I can see why it might be a turn-off, if presentation is particularly important to you. I'm not so fond of the layout in those books myself. Still, I think they're generally a good value, content/price.
It's a tipping point. I can only buy so much on my meager teacher's salary, what with a house payment, health insurance, dental and eye insurance, utilities, and food for my family.Originally Posted by Just A Guy Name
Should I buy this crisp, clean layout of a Hero Book, a beautiful, clean layout of a M&M book, or this tangled mess (hyperbole but not by that much) of an SAS book?

Good point, I'd agree with that.Originally Posted by Agent X
I've stated before, I'm also not fond of how they seem to dwell on Silver Age as the sole legitimate superhero period to emulate. At least that's how I've felt.
However, to be fair, the system seems okay. But as someone else said, they really don't distinguish themselves as well as M&M and HERO have, as those two products really grab two ends of the market and SAS sits a bit muddled near the middle, closer to the HERO side. Which is really just unfortunate from a marketing perspective and isn't really a system issue.

Heh, it's hard to let go sometimesAh well, it's not like they're going to burst into your home and force you to buy and play SAS (or be Special Attacked).
Although Jeff can be a bit..intense.![]()
