Elric at the End of Time

Any ideas on campaign setting, and in particular rules for the Power Rings? They seem connected to the dreaming cities, where all the energy horde of a million years' spacefaring is accumulated, and I think the rings are terminals to cue the cities for Transforms and such. I'm wondering if anyone tried to HERO this milieu.

Re: Elric at the End of Time

The concern I would have about trying to translate this into terms of any game where abilities can be quantified, is that the characters in the End Of Time setting are for all intents and purposes omnipotent. There is virtually nothing imaginable that their rings cannot do, which seems to put them squarely within the realm of Plot Device.

Certainly you can try to assign some Active Point cap to a VPP so that they are only "practically" omnipotent, but I have to wonder why one would want to. The plots in the setting are all based on internal conflicts and recognitions by the characters. Comparison of the capabilities of one vs. another are really irrelevant, since there's nothing any of them can do that another can't undo.

Those kinds of characters are much better suited to a game such as Amber or Nobilis, rather than Hero.

I have my beautiful Hogshead edition of Nobilis right here; but I think the Nobilis are much too transcendent for me to just declare infinite MPs with such characters. The frequency and diversity with which the End-of-Timers exert power would make for either level 5 (maybe even 6!) across the board, or a whole lot of MPs fed by the cities, and if anything the depth of power shown by Nobilis is even more profound than the EoTers. I was thinking Transform MegaScale + Cumulative 0 END or something.
The idea with this setting was a one-off plunking PCs into the End of Time. I'm thinking that using a single mechanic rather than VPPing it would be more elegant. Maybe instead I'll do a write up of Arioch or Xiombarg and have the PCs meet them.
